Givenchy Maharani Spring 2009 Collection - Sari Glow Blushes Review, Swatches, Photos
Givenchy’s Maharani Collection for Spring was definitely captivating as soon as I saw the promotional images for the launch. It also sounded extremely warm-toned and flattering for my skin tone, so I’ve been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to check it all out!
The real standouts from the launch are the two blushes–Maharani Orange and Maharani Pink Sari Glow Iridescent Blush ($42.00 each). The packaging for the entire collection is really fabulous with the rich orange and pink-purple with the gold overlay. On the actual blush product, there is a black design overlay, which will sort of flake away as you use the product, but it’s a nice touch. Both shades are amazingly pigmented and perfect for spring and summer. Maharani Orange is a softly shimmered peachy-orange, while Maharani Pink is softer, almost neutral pink with subtle shimmer. I can’t wait to wear them!
Expect a few more reviews from this launch over today and tomorrow 🙂 I’m off to meet my mom for a lil’ bit and meet my “friend” Charles Schwab to do boring, adult things (booooo!).

These weren’t pigmented enough for me 🙁 I swatched them at Sephora and was so disappointed. I thought with the promo pic they would be vibrant (maybe like the Pout Blushes Apricot Totty and Berry Babe).

Aww! I can definitely see why a lot of people were expecting more intense blushes. I’m really happy with their intensity — just because I prefer building up a semi-sheer blush vs. sheering out a pigmented blush! I’m way better at that than using a light hand, LOL.
Wow Christine thanks for the beautiful swatches–these seem to really glow!! I agree with the first comment, the texture looks awesome but the pigmentation is subtle. Are these beauty-type finishing powders or really subtle blush? I wonder how the coastal scents blushes compare in pigmentation?
Hi Amy – they are very glowy, but I just couldn’t get really good color from them. I have plenty of shimmer powders, what I was really hoping for was a beautiful intense blush. Oh well…. But I’m a MAC NC 35, so many for someone with a lighter complexion could rock these!
Sure thing, Amy! These are just subtle blushes. I found they gave me good color when I applied them using the 129 brush — I really didn’t have any issues getting the color to show up on me! Coastal Scent blushes are more heavily pigmented, but the shimmer from these is much more subtle.

Lemming dropped dead on the spot! Thank you Christine for saving me money. I have to say though, I’m a bit disappointed. I was hoping that these blushes would be pigmented as I wanted to get them because of the name ‘Rani’ in them. My younger sister’s name is Rani y’see.
It’s too bad they disappointed you, Meta! I found myself really liking both blushes, but I gravitate towards sheerer, buildable cheek color over whoa-super-pigmented blushes. It’s easier for me to build up than sheer out (light hand I have not!).
I think I only love the packaging 🙁

I think blushes are the best products of this collection, I thought I would buy all collection include lipsticks which i don’t use often, but in real life after testing of all products i understood that it was great and bright only on promo photo) too good for my wallet:)

Well, I think i’ll buy Maharani Orange blush and maybe Maharani Pink. Also I need to test one more time Maharani Silver Eyeshadows, i was not impressed at the first time. And you Christine? What did you choose?:)
