Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Look you loved this week?: I dug out an oldie but goodie – MAC’s Mineralize eyeshadow in Illusionary/Burning Ambition and used the dark side (Burning Ambition, which is a rich bronzed brown) on my mobile lid with something lighter – can’t recall now what – on the inner corners and MAC Cork to define the crease. My old standards to line, etc. I so love that rich brown of the MAC shadow
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Yes – MAC Fiction. I hardly ever use it and now that fall is here, it’s the perfect time to take it for a spin, so to speak!
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: MAC Fiction – I really want to experiment with different ways to wear it and shadows to pair it with.
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones, grey hair and dark brown eyes.
Look you loved this week?: I never went near makeup this week. My daughter is still struggling in our very red state and while the state went for the red candidate, they are still protesting at the court house and the mall where she works one of her two jobs. It is just a very scary time for her and for me. My aunt was also diagnosed with COVID this week and she is the last sibling on my father’s side. It is just so hard when you know they are elderly, they have secondary issues and she smoked for 60 years. Then not even being able to visit her or see her is hard. Anyway, my mind was not on makeup.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: No
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I am hoping my Clionadh shadows actually arrive, as the tracking says they did, and I can play with those. I am hoping that the tracking saying they arrived means that it is at my local post office waiting for delivery. Living so far out in the country can be a blessing and a curse. If mail arrives a minute after the carrier leaves, then you might not get it for a day or two. On top of that, add the hijinks of the Federal postal officials and who knows where it is!!
Deborah, I’m sorry to hear that your Aunt has covid, I hope and pray that everything turns out alright. Our elderly relatives are so precious to us and this virus is so insidious and non-relenting I truly hope scientists can come up with a vaccine that will help us soon.
Thank you Brenda. I was trying to set up a zoom call or whatever they call it but it is hard as she doesn’t have a cell phone and the one nurse caring for the three patients with COVID, doesn’t either. Sometimes Montana seems like a third world country, LOL! She says that she is feeling okay. I know they started her on IV’s and oxygen as her saturations have dropped. She is 82 and living in assisted living. She does not want to go to the acute care or be intubated so if her condition worsens they will move her to the long term care side and so we will see what happens. Thank you to all who have sent your thoughts and prayers. On a positive note, my Clionadh shadows arrived, yea!
Deborah, so sad to read of your daughter’s situation and your aunt’s diagnosis. It seems unbelievable to me that in a country that prides itself on its freedom, people feel threatened in their jobs because of a political divide. My son is in the Canadian military and we just learned last night that his housemate has tested positive for COVID (after initially testing negative and being asymptomatic). So now my son is in quarantine with his housemate and will be tested tomorrow to learn if he is positive. I am so hoping not (obviously!). As a serving soldier, he’s young and in the peak of good health but still…a mother worries. I hope your worries and mine are soon resolved!
It is very frustrating and anxiety inducing. Governor Bullock has had a mask mandate in place for months and people are still upset about it. One of her jobs is in retail and people are not allowed in the store if they are not wearing a mask so the person who is assigned to work the door area, takes a lot of abuse from the public. Her other job is in an orthodontists office and again, they are mandated by the Governor to wear masks and restrict numbers in the building. They sent a letter to all patients, put signs on the door and they are suppose to call from their car and let the staff know they are there and then wait in the car until staff calls them in. When they come in they are suppose to wear a mask, use the sanitizer gel and only the patient is suppose to enter. They get yelled at and curse words are used and it is just super frustrating. We had 25 deaths in
the state in the last 24 hours. Not a lot compared to other states but for Montana where we went without a death at all into August and then it ran 1 or 2 a day, that is a big jump. People need to understand that the staff trying to help you are just doing their job and they are not the instigator’s of the law. She has had people follow her in her car and make obscene gestures, yell profanity, etc. At her retail job, an elderly lady comes in all the time and she gets a basket and she beelines it to my daughter, hands her the basket and then expects my daughter to follow her around the store holding her basket for her. My daughter is the only minority working in the store. She called me and asked me what she should do as this has been going on for some time. I told her that the next time the lady hands her the basket she should just politely tell the woman that she is sorry but she is needed elsewhere and if management doesn’t like it, which I don’t think they would have a problem with it as they like her a lot, but if they do, just give her notice. It isn’t like she is making a ton of money and was continuing to work the job to get some money ahead for her move to Seattle next year. There is a lot of racism in this state but it is the quiet kind which is insidious and hard to rail against. I think that as time goes by and things settle down, it is likely that the issues will resolve a little. If not, she can move home until she is ready to move. Thank you for your concern, Mariella.
Mariella, I really hope that your son tests negative for the virus. As we have seen in other countries, young and fit people can be seriously affected with it and it would be a very worrying time for you (and his housemate’s parents too). I would be beside myself if any of my adult children got the virus. Best wishes for all of you.
OMG – Deborah, so sorry to hear about your elderly aunt and the situation she has found herself in. I hope she improves and doesn’t experience a worsening of her symptoms.
Now that the election is nearly over, hopefully things will settle down – especially when a certain person conceeds defeat….
I’m so sorry about your daughter. I hope things settle down quickly, but I know these type of issues never completely go away. I hope your aunt will show improvement soon with her COVID.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Look you loved this week?: Using the PMG Sublime Mini – with the gold shade on the lid, Sinful in the crease and the burgundy shade on the lower lid, paired with the last remnants of my MAC Marakesh lipstick.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Still having a fun time with the PMG palette.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Probably Dior’s Bonne Etoile – especially the mint and teal shades.
That sounds beautiful 😍
Thank you Catherine. I was pleased with the results myself.
Look you loved this week?: I pulled out the BH Galaxy Chic palette, started with Jupiter all over the lid, Cosmic in the inner crease, and Venus along the lash line for a pastel sunset eye. Topped the lashes with Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara. Just ABH Brow Wiz for the brows. For the face, Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Medium, Covergirl Cheekers Blush in “Natural Twinkle”, and Wet ‘n Wild Hello Halo Highlighter in “After Sex Glow”. On the lips Laniege Two-Tone Lip Bar in “Apple Jello”
Any new or old favorites discovered?: The BH Galaxy Chic palette is one of my very first eyeshadow palettes and my favorite for the first year I wore makeup. While I now have shimmers with a higher impact, it still works as a surprisingly versatile all-shimmer palette
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I’m going to attempt a Korean-inspired look with my Memebox I’m Meme Multicube eyeshadow palette
Your skin tone/coloring: light, MAC NC 20
Look you loved this week?: I’ve been pulling out and playing with different palettes and I reorganized my makeup area and put things away so now I’m fuzzy on what palettes I even used this week lol
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I wore MAC Prep and Prime lip primer/balm and it really helped with a particular lipstick I’m trying to pan! Also I’ve been using my Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Creme (old formula) . Reminded why this is such a favorite!!
Any product you’re hoping to use next week? Urban Decay Stoned Vibes palette and Lime Crime Prelude palette!
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Look you loved this week?: EYES — TFSI. Notoriously Morbid Dapper Darklings Palette: Mafficking blended out with theBalm’s Matt Thomas ( crease, heavier on outer corner and lower lash line), Got the Morbs (outer 1/3 of lid), Nanty Narking (foiled on inner 2/3 of lid), PodSnappery (brow bone; foiled on inner corner). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (upper and lower waterlines). UD Perversion Mascara. BROWS: KVD Brow Struck Dimension Powder in Dark Brown. LIPS: Sephora Collection #LIPSTORIES Lipstick in Off-Limits. CHEEKS — Sydney Grace Pressed Blush in Paris Skies. FACE — Boots No. 7 Airbrush Away Primer; BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation in Ivory; Ben Nye Neutral Set Powder; Notoriously Morbid e/s in PodSnappery (as highlighter), L.A. Girl Just Blushing Blush in Just Because (as contour), and e.l.f. Original Mist & Set.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Dapper Darklings is phenomenal, especially considering the shadows are all vegan. The packaging is a little bulky, but light years better than the cheap plastic packaging on their larger palettes.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: ND Triochrome Palette
