Becca Mocha & Melon Ultimate Lipstick Love Reviews & Swatches
Mocha
Becca Mocha Ultimate Lipstick Love ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, dusky coral with warm undertones and a luminous sheen from very, very fine (and sparsely placed) pearl. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which applied comfortably across my lips without dragging or tugging. The texture was lightweight, creamy without being too slippery so it wasn’t a difficult color to maintain. It stayed on nicely for five hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$24.00/0.12 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have an "ultra-creamy" texture with "eight-hour wear" and "pure color in one swipe." They're real bold with the "eight-hour wear" claim when it is a softer, creamier formula that's very comfortable to apply and to wear... and definitely not the longest-wearing formula I've come across--which is likely not a deal-breaker for those who aren't looking for long-wear.
The wear averaged between four and six hours with some of the deeper, richer shades (like a red or berry) lasting six hours or longer. They wore down evenly and were lightly to moderately hydrating while worn. The pigmentation was nearly opaque to opaque for most shades, and the majority of shades applied evenly and sat well on my lips without emphasizing my natural lip texture or settling into my lip lines.
They had a sweet, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Melon
Becca Melon Ultimate Lipstick Love ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is slightly brighter, medium-dark pink-coral with warm undertones and a creamy finish with a hint of barely-there, gold pearl. The lipstick had a smooth, creamy consistency that had light slip–enough to glide on and feel comfortable to apply and to wear but not enough to feel like it was slipping and sliding around during wear.
It had excellent pigmentation with full coverage achieved in one layer. From the range, it wasn’t quite as forgiving of imperfections from my natural lip texture compared to other shades, but color wasn’t prone to settling into my lip lines. This shade lasted well for four and a half hours, which was a good wear time in general but not as long as the eight hours marketed.

Today must be peevish day. Even if I can organize by color within brand, it really squinches my eyelids (think that pissed cat look) when a shade looks nothing like the color in the tube. These then add insult to injury by naming them ‘incorrectly’ as well. ’Mocha’ is not coral. Neither is Melon, though kinda sorta closer. I’d rather see shade numbers than names that cause confused expectations. Rant over.
I agree. Life’s hard enough :).
These are gorgeous looking! Mocha was my first pick until I saw that I have 2 dupes for it. Dang it!
Also am loving Melon for a bright, but not neon nor vivid shade of pink-coral. But would rather be contemplating getting it in early spring instead of late summer. I probably will get it, though.
I really like Melon which is kind of surprising to me as I don’t usually go for this colour, as evidenced by not having a single dupe. Not sure how much use I would get out of it but that isn’t surprising considering I have so many lipsticks that using anyone more than twice a year would be saying something. I am working on de-cluttering again but it is hard to let go, LOL!!
These look GORGEOUS on you.
Kinda bleh and unexciting in the tube but applied, they look stunning.
They are $47NZD here 🙁
Lovely though…
I agree! While they were on my list to review… someday… they weren’t compelling when I saw them before, but they’re nicer than expected. The packaging is also heftier and higher-end than I expected, too.
Even though these lipstick shades are not my colours, I still think they are gorgeous shades, particularly Mocha. Although I think that both would look better on a person than in the tube.
