I’d say it’s more “overrated” now–after I’ve tried it–but Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Bronzers were awful to me but so many love them, which makes me feel like I’ve lost my mind, LOL!

The first Fenty palette put out. It was meh. I am very glad I got it on sale with a coupon from Sephora. I ended up selling it online.
I know many people love it — including you, Christine! — but I cannot understand the hype around Tom Ford’s Nude Dip. I disliked it so much that I won’t try anything else from the brand.
Ditto for Charlotte Tilbury, which happened after I purchased the first 12 pan palette (grouped into 4 trios) after reading all the CT hype. I did not enjoy the palette to say the least.
I’m connecting about it again really soon, ha ha, but Essence’s Shine Shine Shine gloss and their clear brow gel/mascara. The gloss, as I recently mentioned, smells gross. The brow gel has interesting packaging, but it offered no hold whatsoever; e.l.f.’s clear brow gel is similarly priced, but almost as strong as Anastasia’s.
Pat McGrath Divine Rose II. It’s pretty. The quality is fine. Don’t find her quality amazing. Her unique shades aren’t that unique. It’s so overrated yet I wasn’t blown away and for the price, I want to be. It’s an average palette at best
The wet n wild foundation that everyone on the Tubes, Reddit and Outer Space swore by…but straight up smelled like paint.
Formula didn’t work for me and that smell ?
Can I say the Clionadh multi chromes? They are beautiful. They apply smoothly. They just don’t work with my eyelid wrinkles and oiliness. I can’t use eyeshadows that are going to crease on me in a couple of hours with primer. I’d love to own the collection but the one I had did not work for me multiple times. I am admiring them from afar.
Oh wow. I don’t know how to feel about this. I’ve never ordered from them but want to. I have no tolerance for creasing though!
I’d say just order one to test if you don’t mind the shipping price. I can never tell what is going to crease on me looking at the ingredient list.
The Melt 420 Palette. It was so hyped before release because of it’s unique color story, and so many people adore Melt. So many in the alternative makeup community loved it and did great looks with it when the box set came out. However, when just the palette released, and I bought it, I thought it was really awful. Honestly, if the Sephora near me were open, I’d return it. I might still try to get a store credit when they do. (I won’t mail it back, I know too many people who got royally screwed mailing returns back to Sephora, and that was pre-pandemic.)
I also hated this palette. It was so patchy, hard to blend, shadows disappeared shortly after applying. It literally makes me mad every time I use it.

Same for Bobbi brown, horrible lip liner colors. They used to have a few eyeshadows i liked but not anymore.

Well, the disappointment is quite old, but since I am just repurchasing favorites lately, not trying new things, that comes to mind. The packaging on her entire line looks nice in pictures, but cheap in real life. The powder, very hyped by people I generally trust, is simply one of the worse I tried. The pencils… let’s say you can buy better formulas at 1/10 of the price.
Should I also complain again about Briogeo and Olaplex, which do nothing for my hair? The Briogeo hair mask, that everyone hypes, works worse than most drugstore conditioners… and my hair isn’t really that dry.
I almost hate to say this (especially since it just came out and I’ve only been using it for a little over a week), but I’m going to say the new Fenty skincare. I preface this by saying that fragrance doesn’t bother my skin typically (and it didn’t with these products) and I’m older than Rihanna so if I were in my teens or 20s again and just starting out with skincare with minimal additional skincare concerns (like anti-aging) I would probably be very happy and not writing this.
The products are nice and I’m certainly not displeased, but I can definitely live without the cleanser and the “fat water”. They aren’t holy grail products by any means and I think I’d be equally fine using Cetaphil and a niacinamide serum from The Ordinary or Fourth Ray for cheaper. I think I just need or want more out of a toner/serum than what the “fat water” provides, but I think that’s more a function of my age group than anything else. I will say that I do like the moisturizer a lot and I will likely repurchase this. It sank in nicely, didn’t leave me feeling greasy, and despite being a chemical sunscreen and using it before doing a pretty sweaty workout outside on a humid day with sweat dripping into my eyes, it did not bother my eyes at all. However, it is the most fragrant of the three products if fragrance bothers you (from either a smell or dermatological perspective).
So again – nice products, but I heard a lot of OMG most amazing thing ever hype and I’m not sure it’s really warranted for the set as a whole.
(My all time makeup overhyped purchases for me are the UD Naked palettes – but especially Naked 3 and Naked Heat. Admittedly I bought them long after they’d been out and by that time there’s been a plethora of neutral or orangey palettes out there I just enjoy more. Maybe it was more novel at initial release with fewer similar products out there?)
Even though I can get very beautiful looks out of this palette I’m about to mention, it takes a LOT more effort than I’d like to have to put in: Pat McGrath Bronze Seduction Mothership V. The mattes stick in spots unless I’m super careful, sometimes even when I am. Two shades have PET glitter in them and don’t apply all that nicely at all unless I apply a sticky base, but only AFTER doing all my crease work and transition blending. Like I said, I do get some stunning looks, but man, it is far from effortless and seamless!
Her other palettes are much easier to use comparatively speaking.
Pat McGrath lip balm. It’s just.. meh. Incredibly overhyped. It’s not worth the price at all and I simply cannot understand why people buy it (except for the bougie packaging which I also think is tacky).
Nothing recently since I am pretty careful about what I buy but in all honesty almost anything Charlotte Tilbury except the lipsticks. I hated the HE Marc Jacobs mascara. It flaked and smeared and everyone loved it.

I have the same experience with Charlotte Tilbury products.
First my biggest disappointing was Dolce Vita/Bella Sofia palette. I missed depth and colours seems very similar on the lid.
Than bronzers and lipstick. I have found that Kiko lipstick have the same longevity, smell and almost same colour as tilbury ones. And are way much cheaper.

What I miss is something fresh, new, innovative, unfortunately in this year I haven’t found any new product only refreshing old one in new packaging
Charlotte Tilbury’s “Pillow Talk” lipstick. I mean, it’s okay, but it’s nothing to write home about. There are definitely MUCH better lipsticks quality-wise and better colors out there.
I feel bad saying this because I know how well loved it is but most Sydney Grace mattes, and even their shimmers. I’ve ended up donating most of the palettes they made because some of my favorite colors I wanted from them (olive toned mattes in particular) look muddy on me, and the Enduring Love palette in Deep just clashed with me horribly. I prefer their pressed pigment formula out of everything, but I have not really enjoyed working with their mattes at all and I tend to reach for my palettes over their singles most of the time because of it. I’m hoping to branch out into other indie brands but since I love the diverse range of colors and formulas they have I was a bit disappointed.
It’s really old and the the company doesn’t even exist any more, but Hello Waffle mineral eye shadow. I just can’t get them to be anything but sheer on me and I’m just not a fan.
