Benefit Always a Bridesmaid Creaseless Cream Shadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Benefit Always a Bridesmaid Creaseless Cream Shadow
Benefit Always a Bridesmaid Creaseless Cream Shadow ($20.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “pearly lavender.” It’s a medium-dark lavender with neutral-cool undertones and a frosted, metallic finish. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm #4 is slightly pinker and a powder product. MAC Amethyst is pinker and lighter.
It had so-so color payoff, and it wasn’t very buildable; I couldn’t get opaque color coverage, even if I applied a layer, waited thirty seconds, applied another, and so forth. At best, I was able to achieve semi-sheer to semi-opaque color. The bigger problem I had was that this tended to catch on itself and ended up looking patchy and uneven once applied. I tried using fingertips, fluffy brush, sponge applicator, and a firm, flat brush to apply this evenly but didn’t have luck with any of those methods. For the most even results, I recommend applying a very little amount and blending it out with fingertips or a fluffy brush (I like MAC’s 217 for this kind of blending) and used as a wash of color. As an eyeliner, this did better, but it smudged out a bit while setting.

I actually like the MAC Amethyst better as it goes well with my skin. to make it darker, try darker primer.
Reading your reviews for the new Creaseless Cream Shadows so far, looks like the old formula was way better than the new one… Or at least, in the old version there was more quality across the shades. Am I wrong?
All of the shades from the original line wear the same as these ones do! Benefit confirmed only packaging changed.
I wish this worked better! It’s such a lovely color, and perfect for spring.
Not a fan of lavender, so this doesn’t excite me 🙂
I like it is so soft
How does MUFE Aqua Cream 18 Purple compare in terms of finish and color? 🙂 thanks
It’s a bit darker and more metallic 🙂
Yeah, that is quite patchy. Funny how in the same line, some shades wear differently.
Thank you for the review. What is it with the purple colored products that their performances always suffer compared to the non-purple?
I have this question, too. Why is it so hard to find quality purples?!
Maybe Illemasqua’s Dab cream pigment is a better choice for a Lavender? Have you reviewed that one before Christine? I keep wanting to buy it, but never do!
No, sorry, I haven’t!
I’ve swatched both Dab and Bedaub. I looove the Bedaub that I own. They have a “tackier” thicker cream texture. I wouldn’t say they’re crease-proof on my naturally hooded eyes though. It does crease on its own, but you can definitely prevent it with primer and powder if needed.
The No 7 Stay Perfect Eye Mousse in Lilac looks similar. It’s weird though because when I apply it with my finger, it creases. When I use a brush, it stays put. I just set it with translucent powder and I’m good to go.
I love this so much! Unfortunately, I do see some of the patchiness you were talking about on your lids but the color is just so soft and pretty that I might have to give it a go anyway!
So sad. Another purple that promises, but doesn’t deliver!
Yeah, I’m not impressed with the formula. Also… not a fan of that name.
I actually really like this shadow and got a good payoff using my finger to apply it to the lid. It also is making a nice base for L’oreal’s Liquid Diamong and at least on my lid is giving it a underlying light purple tone.
I actually adore this shadow but I use it as an all-over sheer color with a dark liner for days I have zero time to get ready. It’s a nice alternative everyday color to champagne or taupe. No problems with creasing or weird build-up.
