How do you store and organize your skincare?
I have larger plastic bins so I organize by function (moisturizer vs. treatment vs. cleanser) in the “archive” area, and for products that I’m expecting to use sooner, I have them in a repurposed shoe holder organized by function in my bedroom closet.
I use acrylic containers I bought from Winners/Marshalls to store my skin care and makeup products. I organize them into separate bins as follows: one for AM routine, one for PM routine, and a larger one for products I use less frequently (masks, etc.) and backups of my favourite items. I’ve done a good job of paring down my collection to what works for my skin but I do still made the occasional purchase if I see something I might want to add to my routine or replace an existing product.
I use a spice rack (theee tiers) that I got from the kitchen section at Walmart for my actives. Moisturizer is on my nightstand as I apply it right before bed.
Cleansers in my shower and another set on my sink!
90% of it is in a oblong plastic container on top of my dresser, the rest sits next to it, including both of my main moisturizers. My skin care is probably my best organized of everything I have.
I don’t own a lot of skincare, so it’s pretty easy. I have a face wash in my shower. I have the rest of my face care in my medicine cabinet. Body skincare is in a basket on a shelf in my bathroom. Samples are kept in a small box in my stash for travel.
My most used items (aka the cleanser and toner I use twice daily) and my day time routine (azaleic acid booster, eye cream, SPF) are on my bathroom vanity, near the sink.
Nightime and occasional routine (make-up remover, retinol, AHA, BHA, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, face oil, moisturizer, clay mask, etc.) are in the top drawer of the bathroom vanity.
Back-ups sit in the bottom drawer of the vanity.
Empties ready to be shipped to Terracycle are in a separate storage area, in a box I ship immediately as it’s filled.
I must say that I have been on a mission to have a “less is more” attitude toward my make up and skincare. I no longer just buyer anything. I have become vigilant about ingredients in my skin and hair care products. I found a skin regimen that has been working for me. So with that being said I pulled aside all of the random products that were not really working and I used them on my hands and feet. ( I don’t like clutter at all). I also have done the same thing with hair care. I realized that Silicone (dimenthicone/trimethicone) destroys my hair! I am done with it! but every product on the market has silicone in it!! Many of the ones that do not are to heavy for my hair type. I discovered Briorgeo and I love it. So far so good.
I tend to store my skincare inside a cabinet in my ensuite. I have ‘spare’ cleansers, daily moisturisers, sunscreen, facial oils, night time moisturisers and serums kept in there to preserve them from light and heat.
I have an empty tall dresser in my guest bedroom. The drawers are designated to top drawer; day/night facial creams, day/night eye creams, neck creams, lip creams, second drawer; serums, essences, facial oils, masks, third drawer; facial cleansers, body washes, toners, bottom drawer; foot/hand creams, cuticle conditioners.
Products I use before makeup, I have with my makeup on my desk. Products that I use often are out on the bathroom; less frequently, in the medicine cabinet; least frequently, in a drawer in my bedroom that also has medicines, extra toiletries, etc.
The only stuff I store in the bathroom is the currently-in-use body wash, face wash, double cleanse washes (for double cleanse days) and shaving stuff in an airtight plastic bin. Backups of those are in the linen closet next to the bathroom. In my room, I have a lovely little glass shelf I got at Marshall’s tucked behind my mirror where I keep my daily skincare (in order of use): toner, face oil, moisturizer w/spf for the morning; essence, serums, eye cream, night cream, lip mask for nighttime. On another shelf, I also have a small tray of sheet masks and clay masks that I use once a week. Backups and other things I rotate like toners, oils, and serums are kept in a small plywood bin in the closet that I got from Michael’s and painted to match the room’s decor.
