How do you store and organize your face products?
I keep foundations that I like and match me, but I might not be using at the moment, in a separate area (just a clear bin). I have several foundations in use at a given time, and those I store in my vanity drawer. I have a few dozen cheek products–blushes, highlighters, and so on–that I keep in my other vanity drawer as “go-tos.” For the rest, I store by brand, then by formula.
I keep most of my cheek products in a lucite organizer with three drawers. Two drawers are blush, the third has highlighters and the one bronzer I own. I have a few more cheek products in my declutter box.
I also use a Chanel box (from an order I received a few years ago) in which I keep blushes and highlighters by Chanel and Dior, plus my Estée Lauder Golden Alligator Compact. Basically, anything that comes in a little velvet bag.
I guess my answer goes for my organization as a whole–all my makeup and skincare sits on top of a small stand. I have a little makeup kaboodle and a small clear bin for brushes and skincare. Now that I’m actually looking at this setup a lot more each day (lol) I want to get a nice-looking wooden organizer because I don’t like actually being able to see my makeup, even placed neatly in a clear bin. Except for one palette that’s pretty enough to stay out. The kaboodle looks out of place because I otherwise have a lot of woods and greens.
Various places in a controlled chaos sort of way? Foundation is stored on top of a lucite organizer, bb cream is with my skincare, concealer is with my mascaras, setting powder is just sitting on top of my dresser in the midst of some of most often used lip products, blushes are in 2 separate plastic holders in the same drawer as many of my lipsticks, finishing powders are in my overflow e/s palette drawer in that old Sterilite container. Sounds messy, but I know where everything is!
“Controlled chaos”. that sound about right fo rme too! LOL!
Right now my entire makeup collection plus brushes fits inside one of the small half-moon makeup bags from The Daily Edited. But on a daily basis it lives inside a small drawer in different little divided compartments to keep it organized.
My SPF face primer sits in the bathroom (I do also apply SPF before). My foundation, concealer and powder sit on a plastic tray in a drawer in my bedroom. My 6 face powders (3 blushes, 1 bronzer, 1 contour, 1 illuminating powder) are in the second half of my custom made MAC palette (the other half/side is eyeshadows). Simple and minimalist, just the way I like it!
I have an extremely large toolbox that is taller than me, that I store my makeup in. That is how much makeup I have. Each category has its own drawer or two. I have one for high end blushes, highlighters and bronzers. Each eyeshadow brand that I have is together in its own drawer and my lip products are on my dresser separated by brand. On top of my toolbox are all of my brushes, that are stored in a rotating brush caddy.
Oooh I need that toolbox!
I have a small Craftsman toolbox that we bought for me to use as a night stand. It works so well for me. All the drawers come in so handy for all the things I need & use. It’s nice to hear that someone else uses the furniture sized toolboxes for other things.
I use smaller toolboxes, but for some reason, I never thought about getting the tall ones, thanks for sharing that!!!! I may just make such an acquisition after this crisis is over.
I just keep the one or two foundations I use in my vanity cupboard in the ensuite bathroom and the one blush and setting powder that I have in my staples bag.
In my main floor bathroom I have a very large makeup bag that holds my daily makeup. In a credenza in the hallway outside the bathroom I have drawers and baskets with foundations, blushes, concealers, bronzers, highlighters, setting powders, setting sprays, makeup brushes.
Most of my collection is stored in a Elfa system that hangs on the closet door. I love it, I can easily see all of palettes, lipsticks, skincare and hair products. I have a few acrylic organizers for my top products I use daily on the bathroom counter too. Elfa was a great solution for my small bathroom. Purchased from the Container Store. I use smaller acrylic organizer in the baskets to provide separation between products to maximize space.
With the limited space I have now, wherever I can. ;). But usually, all in the same drawer and favorites are in my travel bag(s).
It’s much easier now that I have decluttered my collection. I have one bin that holds what I am currently using and one for the rest. Every month I pull out both bins and reorganize with a new “face of the month” so to speak. I tend to select shades and formulas based on the month/season and therefore rotate through creams and powders that meet my needs at the time. It’s a good way for me to be honest about what I actually need to keep since I see what gets used the most. A new month is starting in a couple days… time to switch things up!
(I had to move out of my makeup room a while ago, and I’m still slowly going through a decluttering process and moving things out of drawers and onto shelves in my bedroom. There’s no room for my desk and other drawers. So everything is not in it’s final place yet.)
*Face sunscreen, primers, foundations, concealers, and face powders are on top of my “vanity.”
*I have a magnetic palette with my most-used contour powder and a few oft-used blushes sitting on my “vanity,” as well. Contour powder backups are with my bronzers. My one loose contour powder is in a drawer with loose highlighters.
*Bronzers are currently in a drawer, but I need to put them in a container on my shelves. I don’t own many.
*Cheek palettes are grouped together on a shelf and organized by blush, highlighter, and mixed. My LunaTICK Labs face palettes live on the shelf with them.
*Single blushes are depotted, if possible, and sorted by brand into magnetic palettes. Those are grouped on a shelf. Loose blushes or one I can’t or won’t depot are currently in a drawer and in the process of going in containers and on a shelf.
*Single highlighters are depotted, if possible, and put into magnetic palettes. Those are grouped by brand and how often I use them and put on a shelf with the blushes. Loose HLs and pressed ones I can’t or won’t depot are currently in a drawer and in the process of going in containers and on a shelf.
