Clinique Gold Celebration Pop (Year of the Rat) Cheek Pop Highlighter Review & Swatches
Gold Celebration Pop
Clinique Gold Celebration Pop Cheek Pop Highlighter ($25.00 for 0.1 oz.) is light-medium gold with strong, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. This was the “downside” to the product as it was supposed to have more buildable coverage.
The texture was smooth to the touch without any powderiness, which wasn’t a surprised as it had more of a baked-gelee formula that was denser and more firmly-pressed into the pan. This type of formula holds together better (hence the no powderiness) and tends to “melt” when buffed onto the skin, but it works best with a moderately dense brush rather than something more feathery to pick up product. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.
This shade has popped up on Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s but has sold through, and it’s still available through The Bay (for Canadians). I’m not sure if (or when) it will appear anywhere else. Update on 1/13: This is now in stock at Clinique.com.

I’m in love with its cute little mousy face! This, even though I realize that it’s supposed to be a Rat. And, I also love the shade of it, too!
Tangential comment. Real cute, but I seldom wear gold. Deciding against the Becca LNY as well. Now, to talk myself out of the meteorites in the LE LNY packaging. If there is some ‘room at the top’ and I could pour in my remaining pearls, I’d get the LNY in a flash, because, for once, it’s all about the packaging.
This is so, so pretty – even though I am not into highlighters. What a gorgeous shade – no wonder it has sold out.
This is so freaking cute and silicone-free to boot!
It is on Clinique’s website now.
Thank you!
This is very pretty, and I actually like the fact that it doesn’t have strong pigmentation.
Not a need, but a definite WANT! He reminds me more of a Hammy the Hamster instead of a rat, though! ?
It’s pretty. It looks almost light rose-gold on my monitor.
I want this, but it won’t load on the Clinique website all the way, no matter how hard I try! 🙁 sad.
That is an interesting… glitch. It was loading earlier today, but I see it load and then disappear. It does the same trickery accessing it from top down (clinique.com > makeup > blush).
great eyelook Christine! I am amazed how you rock every eye look!
I don’t have even a remote need for more highliter or cheek products. That said, the mouse is so very cute that I might have to buy it just to look at that sweet face every day and never use it. ??
