Chanel Elemental (352) Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Elemental (352)
Chanel Elemental (352) Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($62.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a new, neutral quad featuring two matte and two satin-to-pearl shades. For lighter skin tones, the color story could work for a soft, neutral eye that would be hard to overdo–particularly as it ran a bit sheerer and was a little more powdery compared to more recent Chanel quad releases. I felt like the formula sat well well on my skin where the matte shades almost “melted” and looked quite smooth (more so than average). I would recommend wearing this with primer as the formula could have lasted longer.

Elemental (352)
PPermanent. $70.00.
Elemental #1
Elemental #1 is a deeper beige with subtle, warm undertones and a pearl finish. It had buildable coverage from semi-opaque to opaque in two layers. The texture was smooth, finely-milled but slightly powdery in the pan, though it wasn’t prone to fallout. It applied evenly and stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Elemental #2
Elemental #2 is a light mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It appeared slightly darker in hue when applied to my skin and also read slightly cooler-toned to my eye in practice. The texture was finely-milled, smooth to the touch without being powdery. It actually performed better than I anticipated based on how light it looked in the pan–I anticipated a drier, more powdery formula. It wore well for seven and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Elemental #3
Elemental #3 is a muted, medium taupe-brown with warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was hard to build up, though it was easy to blend out and soften on the eye, so those who prefer sheerer coverage (and who are likely lighter in skin tone) may find this workable. The texture felt firmer and seemed thinner compared to the other shades in the quad, which were more yielding and easier to pick up with a brush. It started to fade noticeably on me after seven hours of wear.

Elemental #4
Elemental #4 is a medium-dark peach with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation (up to semi-opaque) with a soft, velvety consistency that was somewhat powdery in the pan. The color went on evenly and didn’t sheer away to nothingness, but I would advise using it with a primer or else enjoying a sheerer application. It lasted nicely for seven hours before fading a bit.

Definitely more geared towards being light and fair skin friendly. Not deep or saturated enough for my skintone. Plus, there is the whole issue of the expected Chanel quality just not being evident, either. Hard pass.
I usually hyperventilate at Chanel quads but not this one. Even if the shadows had all received A+ ratings, this looks really boring and, except for the taupe shade (which didn’t get a great rating), these colours aren’t for me.
I’m a little reluctant to buy Channel since my last purchase of an eye kohl gel pencil as well as shadow singles both seem to crease on me using my usual primer .
A very wishy washy kind of quad – definitely not Chanel’s best.
I’m like.. I’d rather do one shadow and done rather than purchase and fight with this one.
This coordinates well with the mauve stylo, which is a far better choice. I may be the target market for this, but it’s quite mediocre. Think I’ll play with the dupes. The dupe Embrace is my fave in Liaison.
Shades looked promising in the pan. I swatched it in store and was disappointed how light and barely visible this palette is and I’m actually not a big fan of super pigmented eyeshadows. The tone of palette is lovely, it’s a shame it’s not that great. May be for someone fair, who likes barely there looks?
The color combo is simple and pretty. If the quality were better, I could see this being a go-to easy palette for lighter skin tones.
At first glance of the palette, it looks perfect for me, but $62 for under-performing shades? Nope. Besides, I am sure I have dupes. I don’t own a Chanel eyeshadow palette, but if I ever decide to get one, it should have received an A rating from Temptalia.
I agree, Seraphine. I know Christine doesn’t take price into account in her reviews but if I am paying a lot of money for something, I expect more from it. I like getting something worth the money, even with less price products (some of the old Wet n Wild palettes and singles, for example) – I don’t like wasting my hard earned cash on anything, whether it’s $5 or $50 but I do have a higher expectation of bigger ticket products. Some of the recent Tom Ford quads that Christine reviewed and which got very poor ratings – sorry but at over $100, that is inexcusable. At $10, I still wouldn’t want to waste the money but I can be a bit more forgiving of the company and product….
Unfortunately, I tend to be a lot less discriminating with inexpensive products…hence the 14 ColourPop eye palettes in my stash, most of which I never use. ?
I was excited for this quad based on your eye look, Christine, until I saw that it was a combination of both quads in the collection. By the swatches, the shades look fairly bland. Will dupe this quad and combine with Warm Memories for replicate your beautiful eye look.
