Melt Cosmetics Amor Eterno Collection launched yesterday (officially!), and here’s a roundup of all the reviews for the pieces in the collection. I wish I could say it was impressive across the board, but I ended up having a so-so experience with a lot of the shades.

The highlighter performed beautifully (and was the, ahem, highlight! of the launch for me), and I think the gel eyeliners have a great texture but work even better as cream eyeshadows/bases. The liquid lipsticks were a miss for me, and the palettes were fussy; they’ll be better suited for those who have less-dry lids, don’t care much about how the shimmers perform, and are willing to spend more time on their eye makeup.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I’m waiting for my Muerte palette to arrive from Sephora. Looking forward to trying it out. If I like it I may consider getting the other half with my $25 bonus reward. Or another discount since Sephora has a couple coming up. I like the mustard gel eye liner but fear I’ll rarely use it.

I was able to get the Muerta pallet, the highlighter and the purple lipstick in the early release. I can stop playing in the pallet and, as a black person, I can appreciate that the color shows up the way they look in the pallet without an eyeshadow base. I’m eyeing the blue eyeliner next and then I’m done. This is an overall great release…probably top 5 releases of 2019 in my opinion.

I’m bummed about the mixed reviews. But somehow Melt is one of those companies that I will buy everything from regardless of reviews. *Although* my experience with the Shape Shift stack (paying full price PLUS their ridiculous $7 shipping domestic for easily their worst performing shadows) left such a sour taste that I’ll only buy their products on sale.

Overall – it’s a damn fine looking collection.
