Sweater Weather | Six Color Stories

A few weeks ago, Dominique Cosmetics released a six-pan palette with two lip colors called Sweater Weather, and my first thought when I saw it was how it didn’t really make me think of “sweater weather.”  Since then, I’ve been wanting to come up with some Color Stories under the theme–as I see it!

I decided to create three takes on the theme, and I repeated those three concepts across two eyeshadow ranges (Sydney Grace singles and ColourPop singles). I wanted to try a rosier/pinker version, more orange/copper version, and a greener version. (Doing this made me see just how weak ColourPop is for cooler-toned shades and green-hued shades when it comes to their singles!)

The palette Sweater Weather reminds me more of a sweater than of fall/winter. Maybe if she called it Cozy Sweater, it would make more sense. I did buy this off of her site and I do like the mattes, but I think this mini palette is too light for most people. Thank you for putting together your color stories.

It definitely had really spring vibes or else perhaps kind of an icy, winter wonderland vibe? but the palette itself was super light (based on photos) when I feel like they’ve done a better job than the average brand on having color stories that work on a larger selection of skin tones!

STUNNING! You have such a good eye for eyeshadows Christine. These are so inspiring.
Personally I love 3.0 the best, but I also like some of the shimmers from the other selections: Go For It, Troops and Peace from Set 1.
Blushed, Amber and Hot Stuff from 2.0
Anti Matter and Tea Garden from Colour Pop – you are quite correct there in saying that Colour Pop really doesn’t have many cool toned shades.
Love this.

LOL, Genevieve – once again, you and I have fallen for the very same colours. Aren’t some of these absolutely beautiful? And the way Christine puts them together looks much more “Sweater Weather” than the original palette (I went to take a look at it online and it has much more a springtime vibe to my eye).

Excellent, just excellent. I ought to print this and keep it with my SG and CP Adepts. And of course, there are a few shades to acquire! I just love those two brands…obviously, if I have Adepts dedicated to each. It’s so exciting that independent brands have come into their own…or taken over the market is more like it. You might WANT something other than these two, but you really don’t NEED it. They do it all, and for the most part, wonderfully.

Loving the 3.0 Sydney Grace shadows. These are definitely great recommendations. And this is why I own more of the SG shadows than Colour Pop. Because of their proclivity towards warm brights, I generally regard their offerings as noise. Though I do like the Smoke Storm palette and some of their liners.
