NARS Holiday 2019 Swatches - Lip Sets

Here’s the last of the sneak peeks of the new NARS x Studio 54 Collection, which is the brand’s limited edition 2019 holiday collection featuring tons of sets and palettes.  This time, I’m sharing swatches of the specially-packaged Audacious Lipsticks (available now at NARS & Sephora, 10/5 at other retailers), All Access liquid lipstick set (available now at NARS and Nordstrom), and the Velvet Rope set (available now at NARS and Sephora).

For full details about what else the Studio 54 collection includes, along with specifics on dates and availability, please read our official launch post.  Based on how well I get through the holiday sets and kits I have on deck already, I may or may not end up reviewing some of the smaller sets, like the Softcore Mini Blush & Balm Sets (I haven’t even photographed/swatched!).

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I have to say that the Studio 54 theme is really unappealing to me, having never been a fan of the disco era. But what has captured my attention is Barbara in special packaging. This is one of my favorite everyday shades and my tube of it is actually getting very low. So now I have a dilemma: (1) Do I buy a replacement in the pretty new packaging, or (2) just let it run out and not buy a replacement because I have many other everyday shades in my collection, even though none are dupes of Barbara? What to do, what to do!!

I personally love packaging in lipstick. It just looks so elegant when reapplying in semi-public. This packaging is gorgeous. I’m not like that for other products
I say BUY, BUY, BUY.

I like Dragon Girl but it looks like it may have opacity issues. It isn’t a very holiday or fall/winter colour but would be the one I would most likely go for. I don’t really need any of them but I guess that is true for most of us. I do like the Nars Velvet Matte lip pencils though and they are easy to carry around in your purse. I don’t find them uncomfortable to wear and Cruella is one of my favorite reds of all time. I am planning on passing on all these offerings.

Ahh, I wanna love Velvet Rope but I think All Access has better depth and range!

Love NARS holiday sets, they are pretty much the only time I buy NARS now because they are such good value here. Other times my heart says “you can afford it, gimme!” and the Scrooge in my head goes “NO!” 😀
