The bright opening of bergamot and carrot seed mirrors the winter light. The floral heart blends white blooms with the rich warmth of Turkish rose. The drydown melts onto skin with undertones of skin-gripping musk, as benzoin and creamy vanilla finish with sun-kissed warmth.
“CLUTCH SIZED SOLEIL LIP BALM, $36.00” — Ha!
Ooooo I absolutely love TF quads and was wanting to pick another one up soon… I can’t wait to see swatches of the Soleil d’Hiver quad as it’s my favourite one there but it looks very similar to Nude Dip. I just LOVE that white packaging!
On second thought…I also really like Soleil Neige and it’s different from my other TF quads. I just can’t wait for swatches!!
I’m hoping that the Soleil d’Hiver palette has the consistency and formula similar to the Nude Dip quad – in which case I’m going to have to snap it up! Since it’s described as having “shimmering shades,” I’m inclined to hope that it is the same formula. If it’s more like the other Tom Ford eyeshadow formula, I feel like they are a lot easier to dupe, which means I’ll probably pass. Fingers crossed!
I think I’m in trouble…I love the looks of all 3 quads. Oh lordy! Why do I always love smokey blue-gray shades even though they never do my own funky eye color any favors? BUT; perhaps Soleil d’Hiver will be that one in a million HE workhorse palette that would be used to death by me on a typical, more subdued eye look day. After all, I don’t usually wear PMG or ND intense looks most days!
Nancy, perhaps you’d be interested in trying a cream shadow that is like a complex silver (easy to make it look smokey with supporting eyeshadows). This silver looks greenish and sometimes blueish in certain lights–very complex and yet quite unique. A product never reviewed on Temptalia and still sold and available in most Sephoras. It’s MUFE Aqua Paint shadow in color I-12 Iridescent Steel Grey.
Thank you for this recommendation, Kitty! I will certainly look into it because of my teary eyes due to allergies, so that I can have an even more waterproof base that actually looks interesting, too.
You’re welcome! I just used mine last night so it was fresh in my mind.
The quad with the green is interesting to me — I guess I think of a color like that as being purely Spring (maaaaayyybe Summer).
I am so excited for this release! I’m in trouble bc this is beautiful and I love the original blush and highlight stick. Use it all the time and have a feeling it will last forever! This and the Chanel holiday release has me so excited!
Hi, Jenny–
I don’t know if you know this (if you don’t have MAC Quiktrik sticks, you might not), but are the blush and highlight sticks as similar to the MAC ones as they sound and look? I have a ton of those, and bought the ones I didn’t have before they discontinued them, because I use *those* all the time (and yet they don’t run out, which is nice).
Hey sorry just saw this. I have no idea bc I’ve never tried the Mac ones. I know they are super pigmented and on my dry skin have a good staying power. You just need the smallest amount. I’ve had mine for over a year and it feels endless
The eye quads look lovely, not too sure about the white packaging – it tends to make me think about how DS brands package their eyeshadows, but anyway the colours look good.
With respect given to Mr. Ford, I just can’t bring myself to pay that kind of money for his makeup. I’ve bought one lipstick to see what the hype was and maybe it was just the wrong shade, but it wasn’t any better than Lancome or Pat McGrath. Those cream shadow combos are gorgeous and really trying my resolve. I wish I liked his colognes/perfumes because I’d love a row of those bottles in my dressing room….I love the shape.
Felt exactly the same about the lipsticks. Not blown away for the price. (And the first one I bought broke at the base without ever having been dropped or even taken out of my bathroom!) Plus “clutch-sized” just makes me laugh … (News flash: a regular sized lipstick fits in a clutch.) But having never tried the eyeshadow, I admit I’m kinda tempted by these cooler, neutral quads … we’ll see … maybe on a Sephora sale.
I was disappointed with Soleil Neige perfume and this collection doesn’t appeal to me either. Never been much of a Tom Ford makeup enthusiast. Glad for those who’ll enjoy though.
What didn’t you like about the Soleil Neige perfume? I’m resisting buying out of completionist tendencies since I don’t think I’d like the scent at all!
Guess the notes didn’t go with my chemistry.I know what you mean about buying just because you have all of his perfumes FOMO. It may smell lovely on you! I brought the last 3 of Tom Ford perfumes so I can have a seat with this one.
Uh oh, now THIS holiday collection tempts me. I love every piece. Not good…
However… when I compare pictures on tomford.com, it looks like many of the shades are existing (albeit beautiful) products, put together in a new color combination. I see Platinum and Spice/Paradiso/Pink Haze cream colors, two of the shades from Nude Dip repeated, what looks like Nude Dip in white packaging, and a glow drops that looks identical to the ones from last release. Plus, I can’t tell without swatches, but it looks like the blush shade is the same in all three sticks. I think I just saved myself about $700 (exaggerating, but not by much)…
Good eye!
I just ordered the glow drops in glacial rose. I wait to get this liquid highlighter. As I have said before Chanel and Tom Ford are my loves in makeup and fragrance
These overblown prices make passing on this collection very easy for me.
