Bite Beauty Los Angeles & Atlanta Amuse Bouche Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Los Angeles
Bite Beauty Los Angeles Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a deep, rosy beige with soft, warm undertones and a cream finish. Alternatively, it could be categorized as a light, rosy brown, but I think it’s just light and rosy enough to be a little more beige than brown (if I had to pick a color family). It was richly pigmented with a lightweight, creamy texture that had a touch of tackiness initially (but seemed to keep the product in place better) that glided across my lips without tugging. This shade wore well for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview
$26.00/0.15 oz. - $173.33 Per Ounce
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable.
The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamy with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They have a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

Atlanta
Bite Beauty Atlanta Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark coral with warm undertones and a cream finish. It balanced brightness and depth to make it less neon without going into a really muted/faded territory. The texture was smooth, lightweight, and creamy enough to apply without dragging but didn’t feel slippery when worn, though there was a smidgen of product in a few of my deeper lip lines (thankfully that wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance). The pigmentation was opaque and stayed on well for five hours on me. The formula was also hydrating over time.

If they get testers in Sephora, I would love to see how Los Angeles would look like on me. I believe that I did turn my MAC Spirit in when I did a Back-2-MAC, not 100% sure. (And feeling to lazy to go look, too!)
Atlanta is pretty enough, but I’m set for this family of shades, I think? ?
L.A. is such a pretty color!
I’m really excited for this whole collection. While I like Sephora lip stories, they really blew it when they just rereleased current shades in different packaging for their travel series.
Atlanta is a gorgeous coral shade and I like how the brand has named the lipsticks after US cities.
I’m normally iffy about this type of coral but there is something about Atlanta that makes me think it might work. I don’t need any more lipsticks but Bite does have a way of drawing me in.
The shade Los Angeles is pretty, but my own bias is that any lippie that properly honors LA really ought to look more like MAC’s Candy Yum-yum ?
Oooh. Los Angeles looks just like my kind of color AND I don’t have any dupe for it, and after comparing it to the two lipsticks it reminded me of, they’re not similar at all. Score.
I have a question. Christine and I have the same exact skin tone so I have bought many lipsticks based on her photos. However **none** of them turn out to be the colors shown.
What am I missing?? It’s like she’s using foundation/concealer under, is it on purpose or accidental?
I’m not sure if you realize it… but I am Christine? there is only one person here 🙂
I don’t use foundation or concealer under lipsticks – I show my natural lip color vs. the color applied in the last photo for lip products. We might not actually have the exact skin tone (particularly undertones) – people very regularly tell me I am such and such shade and they are very off (it’s often a perception thing – it occurs in person, too). There are a lot of things that can also account for color discrepancies: what device you’re viewing it on (and whether you’ve adjusted any settings on it, like color balance, brightness, contrast or what angle or where you’re viewing it on), what lighting you’re comparing what you’re wearing to (I use studio lighting, which is like a lot of really good natural light coming in), and what else you’re pairing with the product (like eye makeup or cheek colors).
I check my lighting against my desktop PC monitor, my husband’s PC monitors (he has two different ones from me), my iPhone XS Max, my husband’s iPhone 8, and my iPad. I try have my color settings to be similar across those devices. I also check those results against real life results in bright lighting, natural lighting, outdoors, and indoors, but you are never, ever going to see the same color in shade vs. direct sunlight vs. indirect light. I can go from room to room and a product will look substantially different just because of the amount of and temperature of light. I have color temperature + brightness controlled lighting in my office with gray walls (neutral and don’t bounce as much light as white walls), and have blackout curtains to minimize ambient light sources. I try to do everything I can on my end to control and be consistent with settings.
What some readers do is look at swatches of products they own against my swatches and are able to adjust based on how they’re normally viewing products (whether discrepancy between device, lighting, skin tone, etc.!).
I have found that my monitor definitely makes shades appear different than they truly are and my undertone and generally being so fair makes shades appear very differently on me than they do on Christine. I have learned how to compensate for that but it definitely is something that I have to be aware of and compensate for when purchasing a product just based on colour. I usually don’t purchase a product based on the shade and how it looks on Christine, (exception being ColourPop Alchemist Blurred Lip). I am more interested in the formula review and then pick shades that work for me. I find Sephora’s site to have the least accurate swatches and rarely does anything I buy from them look like it does in the swatch, LOL!!
I was hoping you would mention the smell. The lemon smell from the minis and chrome lip glosses give me such a headache but I love the formula. What are your thoughts?
It’s the same scent as it is normally! They didn’t change it for the launch.
I find the LA color so LA, being a self-proclaimed Angeleno myself 😉 It’s a little too light for me but very pretty!
