What was the last planned purchase that ended up being a disappointment?

NARS Eyeshadow Quads, probably; I had the purchase ear-marked for “next time there’s a sale,” and they weren’t particularly noteworthy in the end.

Pretty much the entire Wet n’ Wild Rebel Rose collection. Usually their limited edition products are fantastic, but these missed the boat. The eyeshadows were patchy, the lip balm smelled like cheap perfume, and the cream blush ended up looking like a bruise on my cheek. I kept the cute brushes and a lip gloss/shine lipstick, but those were the only winners. Big disappointment.

CP colored mascara. Since I usually try every new offering in eyelash color, it wasn’t impulse. There is no consistency to the formula. Some are thin, some almost globby. The red I had to apply with a mascara fan brush. BIG disappointment, and since CP is pretty reliable in mostproducts, one big time downer. And doubly disappointing, since it was the only m/u product I had bought this year. No wonder I caved on a Sydney Grace order!

MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick in the shade Sultriness. There was nothing I could do to get this lipstick to go on smoothly. It was patchy and immediately settled into the lines in my lips. I tried different lip balms and primers, but nothing worked. I returned it as part of a Back-to-MAC a couple days ago. The MAC sales associate who did the trade admitted that she didn’t like the Powder Kiss line.

Probably the Anastasia Beverly Hills Macaroon single. I had been in love with it for a while and when I finally got it, it’s super sheer and barely shows up no matter what. I’ve tried applying it with my finger, a wet brush, using spray fix, using a shadow foam applicator and the results are the same. I don’t know if I got a bum one or what but I was so crestfallen.

The last one I can think of is Kat von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil in Gold Skool. I bought it before reviews came out, based on how good my other ones were, and it turned out to be a dud. The sponge-tip popped off the applicator the first time I used it, there was very little product in the tube, and it was extremely dry and patchy. I returned it.

The first one that comes to mind is UD Born To Run. It’s not because the quality is lacking, or that it isn’t an absolutely beautiful, cohesive color story, but because I personally find myself only using the same shades every time I use it… I haven’t even really touched the right half of the pallette, and those were the shades that initially drew me in. That said, although I haven’t used it in months, I suddenly feel inspired to take on the challenge, and use some of the neglected shades tomorrow, LOL!

Fenty Beauty’s Wattabrat – none of the promotional pics nor swatches online gave any indicator of just how much of a glittering glittery glitterbomb it is. :/

Since I haven’t purchased anything to speak of I had to go back a ways to figure out what my last planned purchase was! I could take the easy way out and say the Huda Emerald Obsessions palette but I knew about the issues when I purchased it so that really doesn’t count. I ordered an eye shadow quad for Suqqu and when I got it I was so disappointed. All four shades were shimmer shades although one appeared in the promo pics to be matte. The shimmer was okay but there were a lot of micro glitters that weren’t bound to the base shades and so I might as well have taken a bottle of glitter and just shook it over my head. I swear I was finding glitter from it for days afterwards.

Here I go again. About to commit makeup blasphemy here. But I’m sorry, Pat McGrath Blitztrance in Rebel Red let me down. It looks like a strange pinkish shade on me within only 2 hours. Like a bunch of dark pink glitter. Pretty, I suppose, if I had wanted “pink”. Except that I was expecting and looking forward to a glittery red like Dorothy’s red shoes!

Oh good Nancy , so glad you went there , lol… because I have one too , sort of.
Ellis Faas Creme lips in a color that just doesn’t flatter me too much
at this time of year .
The texture and that fabulous silver bullet case seduced me ! Lol…
I think come summer when. The light is warmer I can revisit it and make it work , in a “Bronzey Goddess” sort of way .

Well, maybe I am doing smth wrong, but Lancome L`Absolu Lacquer in Let Me Shine. Did not impress me at all. I did not get the hipe around it, and the notion that it leaves my lips nice and soft and tinted is negated by the fact that there is lots of better lip balms and tints for this price. Let me know, maybe there is a way to use it so it provide amazing results 🙂

Rimmel’s Fresher skin foundation in Porcelain – I thought it would be good because I like their Match Perfection range, but this was terrible. No lasting power whatsoever. Later on I found a reviewer from an English blogger, who said exactly the same thing.
And I guess, CT’s The Rebel – the second shade, which I like the best, only shows up very faintly. A tad disappointing too.

Charlotte Tilbury cheek to chic in First Love. Had it in my wish list for over 6 months. Middle shade wayyy too pigmented for me and no brush I own lets me safely swipe the outside without knicking the middle. Ended up returning it for Jouer’s Adore Me duo which is pretty much a dupe, cheaper and much easier to use (though I only use one side!)

Loreal x Isabel Marant collaboration. I was so keen on it, ‘coz I love Isabel Marant, but the highlighter is the worst makeup product I have ever use. It’s like drying lip balm. It’s not working with any primer, foundation or corrector or even on it’s own. What’s more – it is matte! Lipstick was also a miss. It smells like old one, looks terribly orangy and makes lips dry. I bought it just after its premiere, so there was no reviews. I’m still sad and angry looking at them (fortunately I had a discount). Especially that I should have known better, because I was also not a fan of Loreal x Balmain lipstick collaction, my bad :/
