2019 Readers' Choice Awards: Nominate Your Favorites Now!
It’s that time of the year again! It’s time to nominate your favorite products and brands from 2018 as well as your all-time favorite formulas. We have tried to make it easier for readers as well as on our end when it comes to compiling nominees. You can start typing your favorite brand or product, and it will suggest what you’re looking for using our product database, but as always, you can write-in your favorites as well. All of the nominations will be compiled and the top 10-15 (depending on how many ties there are) will make the voting ballot. You do not have to nominate for every category; fill in as many categories as you wish to participate in.
- Nominations: January 16th, 2019 through January 22nd, 2019 10AM PST.
- Voting: January 23rd, 2019 through January 29th, 2019 10AM PST.
- Results: February 6th, 2019
Closed! Voting opens shortly!
I really wish you had the Hourglass Veil translucent powder as an option. For me it was the best product and hands down the best powder I ever used. I also loved the Huda Beauty easy bake and didn’t see it. I wrote them in these were game changers for me in 2018, hourglass all over and huda under the eyes They arent obscure so it was odd not having them as choices.
You can submit write-ins, Julie!
Julie, I think the choices that are programmed in are only products she’s reviewed. (Correct me if I’m wrong, Christine.)
This is incorrect. 1) we allow write-ins, so you can submit anything, regardless of whether it’s in the database. 2) There are 100K+ products in the database – most of which I haven’t reviewed!
My apologies! Thanks for clarifying.
No problem! 🙂
Thank you! I ended up writing it in for the Hourglass, but I love love loved the powder so much that I want it to win, LOL. Im mid 40’s with dryer skin and this looks stunning on me.
That is one of my absolute favorites from this year and I kept going back and forth between that and my ND Lila palette…
It is though? Maybe it was added today…
Another reader submitted it as a new product, which allowed it to get into our database formally – maybe after reading this comment thread 🙂
Oh gee – I forgot about that one, which is my fave too in spite of my Hourglass grudge! I submitted Laura Mercier’s, just because it’s one that did pop up (and I had got myself into a muddle trying to submit other products not in the auto-pop-up thing).
I agree with you about those powders.
Yeesh – I always have trouble with this thing – I tried to nominate a brand that isn’t in the database, I guess, and when I hit “keep my original submission”, I got taken back to the truncated list of 3 or 4 brands I’d already nominated and had no option but to hit the “submit” button. Now I don’t seem able to go back and continue nominating.
Hi Mariella,
I don’t think I’m able to recreate the issue. The suggestions should only come up when you initially submit the form. Nominations that have no issue will go through and we ask to clarify the ones that we can’t match to anything. You shouldn’t be seeing suggestions until you’re all done submitting your nominations.
There may be some misunderstanding in the submission experience too. When you click a suggestion or ‘Keep my original submission’ the suggestions will disappear which will cause the elements below the suggestions to appear where you had just clicked. That could be what’s causing some of the confusion, because if there’s the same suggestions below the one you had just clicked it may look like you haven’t done anything? There may also actually be something wrong with the process, if you can let me know what browser/device you’re attempting to submit from that’d be helpful.
Finally, I will say that your submissions get saved and any submissions you do afterwards will either update or append to your previous submission. Please let me know if you need me to clarify any further!
Thanks!
Christine, I don’t think I can recreate it either but a few minutes after I had this issue, I was able to start all over again and I just avoided doing “write ins” as I didn’t wan the same thing happening again. I really wanted to add the Clarins Be Long mascara as my high end choice but I may well have skipped the category entirely when I tried a 2nd time.
I always find the results entertaining. 😀 They’re somewhat predictable, but I’m always amazed how my opinions differ from the mainstream opinion.
I always find it interesting to see how my opinions change from year to year. This year, just a few brands dominated for me. Some previously all-time favorite brands and products have been displaced. I was surprised to realize how much I’ve loved NARS the last year. In the past, I never bought much from them.
I second that – I have bought products from a whole range of brands this year but I keep coming back to my Nars and Hourglass products. Nars have put out some great things recently!
Brands that I predict will be all over this =)
Pat Mcgrath, Hourglass, Marc Jacobs, Natasha Denona,
Most obvious winners:
1. Pat McGrath Mothership V Eyeshadow Palette – Bronze Seduction
2. Natasha Denona – Camel Palette, and the Gold Palette
3. Hourglass – I think this brand will appear the most – ex. scattered lights eyeshadows, the Caution mascara, the mineral veil loose powder, the unlocked ambient lighting palette
4. Marc Jacobs – The Tan-Tastic! Coconut Bronzer was crazy popular this year and I can’t think of any other bronzer that took the spotlight like this guy
5. Tatcha – This might even be like a weird ‘mic drop’ moment because holy smokes this thing was popular!
6. Drunk Elephant – Not makeup (unless you count their D-Bronzi product) but has to be mentioned – Initially I was skeptical about this brand but I think I, along with the rest of the world, fell in love with their entire product line this year
7. Bobbi Brown – Vitamin Enriched Face Base became increasingly prominent amongst beauty YouTubers this year
8. Charlotte Tilbury – maybe the Magic Away Concealer…but definitely their Pillow Talk Eyeshadow palette was loved by loads of people
9. Fenty – I’m sure there’s lots of full-coverage gals out their that will say the Pro Filter foundation was a favorite.
10. Dior – The entire ‘backstage’ line definitely appealed to folks with the ‘bts’ vibes that the packaging gave and I think it was fairly memorable this year. People seem to especially love the foundation
Would be curious to see other people predict =)
I must be in a different world then because I’m just not impressed with Drunk Elephant… I’ve tried several of their products and used them for at least a month and saw no benefit over what I was already using. I dunno…
LOL Nah, you’re not alone. I have tried most of their products and I’m definitely not impressed by all of them. For example, people seem to love this ‘C-Firma’ serum, but I’ve used it for 4 months and…..I really don’t see any benefit whatsoever.
My input is in! I can only imagine how much work this is each year — Just letting you know how great it is to learn from your readers’ experiences, each day and also especially this annual survey. Thanks for all you do.
So much fun to think about my favourites, can’t wait to see the results! 🙂
Thanks for doing these awards, I’m sure it’s a lot of work!
Seconded. Thanks for all the hard work, Christine! I look forward to seeing it every year!
I submitted Wet N Wild’s Photo Focus eye primer as my favorite, but corrected it to the Fergie “Take on the Day” primer, since that’s how the formula was originally branded – it would be great if you could update the listing or add the Photo Focus primer to your database!
I was so conflicted on a couple of categories that I just froze up and skipped them. *rolleyes*
This is fun! I’m always so impressed because literally ANY item I can think of will pop up in your database, Christine! I felt funny when I couldn’t think of a “best product of 2018” — so many of my tried and trues are older products! MAC, MUFE, Kevyn Aucoin… classics. The categories I wish were included in this poll were: Setting Spray, Brow Product, and Color Corrector. Maybe next year!
The brands that I have been impressed with this year are:
Dose of Colours
Colour Pop (especially their Lux lipsticks)
City Colour
Sydney Gace
Coloured Raine
Gosh, hit the submit button too soon and couldn’t figure out how to come back. OH well. So happy to participate, I think it’s my first time! 😉
