Chanel Emprise Le Vernis / Nail Colour Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Emprise Le Vernis / Nail Colour ($26.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “natural rosy beige.” It’s a warm, not-quite-peachy, beige with very, very fine shimmer. The shimmer only becomes apparent under a lot of light, like flash. There’s a hint of rosiness to the color, too, and I suspect on pinker complexions, it will become more obvious. MAC Style Tip is a touch darker and has no shimmer. Rescue Beauty Lounge Sheer Nude is more beige and has no shimmer. MAC Hangin’ Loose is lighter. Chanel Tendresse is similar–creamier, no shimmer, almost jelly-like. Chanel Peche Nacree is a little darker, warmer.

Emprise is opaque after two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin.  The one thing I did notice was that the first coat of color would get pulled a bit (and then look streaky) if you didn’t wait for the first coat to dry down fully.  It didn’t bubble or pool along the sides, and it flowed easily across the nail.  I typically get a week of wear out of Chanel’s lacquers with minor tip wear but no chipping.

Okay, I take back what I said, I might be interested in the nail polishes in the collection after all. I don’t think Emprise is anything special, but it does seem like a good colour to have in one’s arsenal if there’s no neutral, discrete-but-lovely, office safe colour yet (and that’s my case!).

i’m wearing this right now! It’s so girly yet it’s still very office appropriate. illamasqua’s monogamous is similar, but it does have a rubber matte finish.

Very pretty. However, considering the price, I think I’d be just as happy with Zoya Shay. While it may not be a dupe (I’m guessing lighter, maybe less warm), it looks similar enough.

Great review – thanks! I was planning to only pick up Fracas and Accessoire from this collection, but after seeing yours and others’ swatches of Emprise, me thinks it’s coming home, too! I love these warm, peachy nudes – so perfect for work, I just can’t get enough.

Ooh, what a pretty peachy-beige! I’m not typically a fan of anything in the former category, but I think this one has just the right amount of the latter in it — I can definitely see 2013 being a peachy year for me, if the colours are going to look anything like this! ♥

I have Pêche Nacrée so I think I’ll skip, I much prefer the Zoya 2013 collection to the Chanel one and I have enough Chanel polishes they’re very good but often dupable.

Last week I picked up CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in 240 Coral Silk. It may be a close dupe. I have not swatched it yet and I am only going by the colour of the bottle.

I really wanted this because the colour is gorgeous, but I went into store and applied it, and it went on really sloppy. Not worth £18 as far as I’m concerned.
