A very pastel makeup ( pro makeup of course ) with nude and rosy colours. Subtle and simple. I think a wedding makeup should be simple because it’s THE day of your life and tears, laughing and eating and kissing your beloved etc.. may really destroy your makeup. The weddind day I would go both high end, simple and beautiful. But I never married, maybe I will one day “in my dreams” as we say in French lol !

Stacey Avatar

Yep, still single and plan to be…but I would choose UD Naked ES, Dolce N Gabanna pressed powder foundation- makes my skin feel so soft and not tacky, last all day, Estee Lauder foundation, Dolce N Gabanna lipstick and what ever in between.

EmmyJean Avatar

Wedding makeup is where the addiction began for me! I was a complete noob and decided I wanted to do the makeup myself.

It was simple and easy makeup, but I really like how it turned out in the photos. Luckily, at the time, my skin was lookin’ pretty good (I was 19) so I just wore bareMinerals foundation. (In hindsight that probably wasn’t the best decision, but thankfully there was no flashback from the SPF.) All I did was:
-primer then foundation
-fill in brows a bit
-apply eyelid primer
-wash of shimmery peachy champagne eyeshadow
-dark brown eyeshadow as liner, top only
-curl lashes
-waterproof mascara, top lashes only
-lip balm then dusty rose lipstick
All done!

I would have done things differently today (hello highlight, contour, blush!)…but at the time it was perfect. 🙂

I’ve been thinking about this all week. I have said since I was a teen that I’d wear chanel lipstick. Now that I follow blogs and am more familiar with products, i’m not so sure. I’m more leaning towards Armani or just one of my basic MAC ones. I don’t know that I’d go to anything super out of my norm for eyes or face. Maybe slightly more multilayered eyeshadow.

CeeBee Avatar

Mine was last month and I wore Guerlain Parure Gold foundation over the L’Or primer, Shiseido Translucent setting powder and a smidge of Scott Barnes Diamond Dust loose powder for a little bit of glow.
Eyes were Dior Crush Glow quint, heavy on the gold and mauve with the pale pink as a highlight and the deep brown in my crease. Lower lash line was Chanel waterproof Yeux liner in Taupe, upper was Milani Liquifeye Metallic liner in Brown. Clinique Gentle Waterproof mascara, because it was the only waterproof one I had! Brows were done with the La Bella Donna brown kit in Brunette, the highlight cream in that is great!
Blush was Guerlain Blush G and my lipstick was Rouge G in Gemma. I was going to wear Gems but the deeper, cooler pink looked better with the flowers on my dress. I had Cle de Peau glosses in #2 and #3 stashed away but didn’t end up wearing any gloss at all on the day…

I also did my bridesmaids makeup and surprised her with a Rouge Dior lipstick in Cindrella (from the Dior Holiday collection last year) – she loved it!

I’m getting married (and doing my own makeup) a week from tomorrow! I’d love to hear what everyone did! As of now I don’t really have anything planned, other than Nars Dolce Vita lipstick. (Normally I love brighter lips, but I was overruled by my guy…haha)

Charlotte Avatar

I’m red at Easter 2014 and I’m currently trying to figure that out! I’m pretty set on Retrospeck and Satin Taupe on my eyes, and I already have HG-status mascara (Maybelline Great Lash) and brow products (Benefit BrowZing). I need to find a foundation (medium coverage, natural finish, doesn’t cling to dry patches and lasts all day on my oily skin) and lipstick (hopefully something long-wearing from Guerlain or Armani) Thankfully I’ve got quite a bit of time!

Ana Ribeiro Avatar

I did my own makeup – Korres primer, MAC Studio Fix Fluid (NC30, NW35 for contour) and a tiny wee bit of Studio Fix Powder to set the foundation.

For face color, I used EverydayMinerals’ Rhapsody in Peach blush and Benefit High Beam + MAC Golden Bronze for highlight.

On my eyes, MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot + Melon Pigment, basically, and a mix of browns for the crease.

On my lips, MAC Viva Glam I! 🙂

Ana Ribeiro Avatar

OOPS, I forgot to say that I also used MAC Blitz & Glitz fluidline for tighlining and L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes (Waterproof) Mascara!

And I used Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray, and I swear by it! I cried a lot, danced a LOOOOT on a reasonably hot night… and my makeup resisted brilliantly. 🙂

Niamh Avatar

I’m still a LONG way from getting married but I think I’d do something quite gentle and feminine. Hints of lavender and pink quartz, but I think I’d definitely want to emphasise the green colour of my eyes. I guess really it will depend on the dress/jewelry etc.
I must say Christine if someone had said they were going to use the Guerlain Turandot palette, I would have thought it wouldn’t work but your eyes looked fabulous!!!

Jax Avatar

Mostly MAC, it was when I first got into them, coming up on 8 years ago.

It was a Winter Wedding and I was in a very Dark Purple dress so I went for Plums and Pinks rather then the normal wedding Light Nudes.

Face : NW20 Studio Fix Fluid Foundation and Select CoverUp Concealer, Blot in Light
Cheeks : Cubic
Eyes : Seedy Pearl as brow-bone Highlighter and Mid lid accent, Star Violet and Blackberry on lid and crease layered for contouring, the dreaded Shadowy Lady on outer V, Prunella Liner, Black Mascara (Can’t remember which)
Lips : Origins Just Bitten in Blackberry (I was Annoyed, I didn’t mean to use this but I was being rushed and just picked it up) Great colour but I wanted a longer lasting lipstick.

I did all my own make-up as I didn’t trust anyone else and was happy with how it turned out.

I wish I knew then half the tricks I do now, I would have contoured and Highlighted and would have done the eyes a little different.

Meg Avatar

My makeup was quite natural, I chose to tone colours down and play up features very gently, and I did my own makeup. I have to say, I have never, ever photographed more beautifully.

I have light brown hair, green eyes, and my skin is fair-to-pale, with lots of natural pink.

Eyes were washed with light-toned pearl gold eyeshadow over lid, with a slightly darker gold pearl in the crease, very light line of blacktrack along the upper lashes, “baby” false lashes, and mascara.

Lips were strawberry chapstick (not one regret here, it was wonderful to not have to worry about touch-ups or having lipstick rub off on everyone).

Face involved concealer over dark undereye circles and a tiny bit of powder.

If I wore blush, it was probably Nars’ Orgasm.

Best day of my life, nothing beats the glow of a woman (or man) “found”, and I am so happy that I chose to go light on the makeup.

Christine, you looked radiant in your photo for Temptalia.

becca Avatar

I LOVE how you did your wedding makeup it suits you so well!

for my wedding i would like something dramatic but not trendy. something that flatters my coloring and facial features. I love pinks, plums, grays, and dark colors for my eyes. maybe light pink blush and a raspberry pink lipstick. I also want my skin to look glowing.

Carie Avatar

I wore really minimalist m/u because I know it would be cried off, kissed off, hugged off…… you get the picture. I wore fndn, blush, (and from the shiney look in the pictures, I should have worn some powder), wp mascara, and a clear red l/s. I was so young that I didn’t need a lot of m/u.

Terri Avatar

I actually did the MAC Fergie Viva Glam look. It actually worked really well for because of my eyeshape and color.

I did a basic rosey lip and did a warm pink on the cheeks focusing mostly on the eys.

mirian Avatar

Not married, but can I say that I don’t think I will ever allow someone to put makeup on my face on my wedding day. The thought of getting my photos back with uneven, mismatched makeup freaks me out. I would rather do it myself like you did.

Base: Monistat anti-chafing gel as primer, MAC Studio Tech foundation NC35, NYC Smooth Skin pressed powder in Naturally Beige

Blush: Bonne Bell Blushing Gel in Sheer Peach, contoured with Revlon Photoready Bronzer

Brows: L’Oreal Infallible in Continuous Cocoa

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Primer Potion as primer, base of Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe all over lid up to crease, covered with L’Oreal Infallible in Continuous Cocoa all over lid up to crease; Fyrinnae Polar Bear dabbed over irises of eyes, WnW Brulee as browbone highlight, L’Oreal Infallible Iced Latte in inner corners of eyes.

Eyeliner: Maybelline gel liner (catseye)

Individual faux lashes (Ardell)

Lips: Tarte Lipsurgence in Hope with a layer of Revlon Fig Jam Lip Butter over it

I had my makeup done by a makeup artist, and she did a really pretty light gray-purple – and I provided the YSL Glossy Stain in Rose Tempura (Nordstrom exclusive)!

Catherine Avatar

Goodness, I don’t know, first I have to FIND SOMEONE and then I’ll start thinking about that! Not even sure if I’d do my own makeup or get it done professionally! I feel like I’m pretty skilled at makeup now, but not sure it would last looking flawless as long as I’d like if I did it myself! If I did end up doing my wedding makeup myself, I will say that I’d probably finally splurge and invest in some Guerlain and Burberry products! I’d want all of my makeup to look feminine and my skin to look very glowy 😀 I actually really loved your wedding eye makeup, Christine, so it’d definitely be on my inspiration board!

GUSnail Avatar

I got married before I really got into make up. I had my make up done by someone at an Aveda salon. She kept it very natural, with a soft, but defined eye, soft pink cheek and a mlbb lip. When I look back at my pics, I’m very happy with the results; a fresh, soft look. The only thing I would change if I was doing it today, is I would have smoked my eye out just a little.

virginiaisforluvrs Avatar

I wore the following makeup for my 9/2012 wedding!

Face: Make Up Forever HD Foundation, Primer, and Duo Mat Powder Foundation; Tarina Tarantino blush in Feather
Eyes: NARS primer, Urban Decay eyeshadows in Pistol and Verve, MAC Aquadisiac shadow, MUFE Pearly brown 2L eyeliner, Dior Diorshow Waterproof mascara
Lips: Sephora Nude lipliner, MUFE 38 lipstick, Chanel Glossimer in 146

Stephanie TP Avatar

I LOVE this question. First, I’d like to say I would hire a makeup artist for me and my bridal party, because I do everyone else’s makeup all the time, I would want someone to pamper me on my wedding!
FACE: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, NARS Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc, Bobbi Brown corrector, Guerlain Meteorites perles to set, Guerlain Terracotta 00 Bronzer, NARS Sin blush and Albatross.
EYES: NARS smudge proof base, I would want my eyes to be subtly smokey: MAC Carbon, Satin Taupe, quarry to blend, a cream colored highlight. Make up for ever Aquablack liner. Diorshow Blackout waterproof.
LIPS: Burberry Nude rose (I think that’s the color name).

Not makeup but still important, glitter on my collarbone, perfume would probably be Marchesa 🙂

I got married in early 2007, on the beach in Mexico. I used items from the Raquel Welch collection: Amazon Eyes quad, Goddess blush, and Bedazzled pro longwear lipcolor. It was very warm and colorful and perfect for my day!

I don’t remember every product but I know I used these for sure:

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation
MAC MSFN
Ardele lashes
Naked 2 Palette
L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liner
Tarte blush in Exposed
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel bronzer
Dior Amber Diamond

The idea doesn´t excite me at all. I will only marry if I find my soulmate, someone who would love me and I would love with heart and spirit entirely, more than everything else. I´m non comformist, so if I do marry in the distant future it wouldn´t be for the sake of marrying thats for sure.

So, in 10 or 20 years or so lol:

Chanel lilirose lip liner on lips to sculpt and shape
Chanel Rouge Coco Legende on lips
Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Feline Extravaganza for eyelashes
Chanel blush In Love lightly applied
Probably a Neutral and medium toned Chanel quad on eyes
Brown or Bronze eyeliner (I would have to buy one for that lol)
Chanel nail polish black pearl on nails and toes (I don´t care if it´s dark! 😛 )

Hmmm I seem to be kind of a Chanel fan, interesting 😛 .

I created this how to in case I got nervous and forgot anything:

put primer on eyelids (Urban Decay Primer Potion)
put elixir on face (Make Up Forever HD Elixir)
fill in brows with ( Benefit Brow Zing)
put primer on face (Make Up Forever HD Primer)
put on brow highlighter (Benefit high brow)
put gold eyeshadow over eye (Half Baked from Naked Palette)
put brown eyeshadow in crease(Buck from Naked Palette)
blend eyeshadow
line upper eyelid with gel liner (start with outer corners) (Make Up Forever Aqua Cream Liner)
go over lash line with black eyeshadow (L’oreal Black)
put mascara on lashes (first YSL Faux Cils, Clinique Primer, Dior Black Out Waterproof)
put on concealer (Sephora Perfecting Cover)
put on foundation (Make Up Forever HD)
put on loose powder (Make Up Forever HD)
line underneath eyes (Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes)
put on face highlighter (Physician’s Formula Glow Pearls-Beige)
put on blush (MAC Pinch Me)
fill in lips completely with lip liner (Mac Cherry)
brush on lipstick (Revlon Fire and Ice)
set with setting spray (Urban Decay All Nighter)

I was an artist for Borghese at the time. That was 16 years ago. I wanted to feel glam and over the top. I wore lashes, a Dior Quad eyeshadow and a lip color similar to MAC Rebel meets Fashion Fair Magenta Mist.

Heather Avatar

I am a Bobbi Brown girl 100%. So all BB for me.. I have been thinking about what scent I want to wear, more than the make up cause I know I will go with BB not sure what colors yet.

Rosaline Avatar

I wasn’t happy with my wedding makeup. Back then I did not know how to do my own makeup so we hired a company and they also provided the wedding costumes and accessories. It was interesting and quite the experience I don’t want to go through again because there were about 16 different outfit changed and the wedding lasted three days! They were really talented but they made me look like a doll! I looked so overdone and fake! It did not look like me at all. I don’t know what products they used. It was actually the first time in my life I was done up all pretty. My mother in law and my hubby was the one who planned and did everything because I just said that I wanted to sign the papers and that was it. They had other ideas and were more excited than I was. If I could do it over, I would have eloped!

Nicoco Chanel Avatar

I haven’t really thought about it!

It would depend on the theme/setting/timing of the wedding, but if I got my dreaaaam location (http://www.flickr.com/photos/zug55/2163900872 this gorgeous heavenly hnnnngh), I think I would go with springy pastels and pink cheeks/lips. I would need to figure out the perfect, does not move under any condition, items though! That’s the main thing for me, the colours are secondary.

That said, I love light green eyeshadow and pink cheeks on myself…

Tovah Avatar

My makeup was really natural looking. I wore an ice peach dress and didn’t want my makeup competing with it.

I did have a professional pick out my colors so that it would all go well together.

However, I did not want to trust anyone to apply my makeup. I feel I know what I feel best in. (Although I’ve gotten numerous requests through the years to CHANGE MY LIPSTICK!)

I got married this summer and in Senegal (my home country). In Senegal for weddings women all over the country go to hair salons and get outrageous makeup looks. They end up looking extremely different from what they usually look like and I ALWAYS knew I was NOT going to let anyone touch my face for my wedding day lol.

I tried countless looks before the d-day but I ended up going for something really simple.

Primer: Hourglass Mineral Veil
Foundation: Mix of Revlon Colorstay and Revlon Photoready
Setting powder from Sephora
Blush: Sleek Makeup Aruba
Contour: Sleek Contour Kit
Highlight: Lise Watier Havana All Over Bronzer
Eyelid primer by Elf
Eyeshadow: BH Cosmetics 5th edition Palette – I used a very simple dark reddish brown all over my eyelid. A gold on my inner tear duct and a dark brown on the outer v. Black eyeliner and mascara. Voilà!
Also on the lips I just lined them with brown liner and applied a pink/red opaque lipgloss from Avon.
I sprayed my face with De-Slick oil control setting spray from Urban Decay because it was so hot, I didn’t want my make up to slide off my face.
And I used Mac’s Blot powder during the photos and it was with me all day.
I ended up with a very natural and simple look, I had a lot of good comments on it and I loved it.

Adrienne Avatar

I would want to hire someone for my day with them using all my own products so I still look like myself. The reason I wouldn’t do it myself is because I never do it heavy enough for it to show in pictures. My look would be just like Kate Middleton but going less heavy on the eyes.

Adrienne Avatar

Oh and that would include products like: naked, a few browns from Mac, burberry trench, Bobbi brown liner, mufe hd, nars bronzer, all nighter, ysl highlighter

Meghan Avatar

I’m getting married next July and I’ve started thinking about this. I think I will do my own makeup and it will be quite natural, with maybe a slightly more glam eye than I would do otherwise. I’m thinking about doing a very bright blue nail polish, for a bit of fun oomph.

Lark Avatar

If I marry again, we’re going to Vegas! At my age a big deal wedding is silly; A reception later is the thing to do. And not the cake and garter kind.

But it will be great make up. Maybe huge hair. In Vegas one gets married by Elvis in a jumpsuit. Unless my betrothed prefers Ster Treck. Lots of eyeliner…

lydia Avatar

My wedding makeup was super simple. All I did was a bold cat eye, a wash of gold shadow, rosy cheeks, and I had my hair in a fishtail braid. We planned the entire wedding the day of so I didn’t have much time to put my face on. We’re going to renew our vows in a few years though and that’ll be the “actual” wedding with plenty of planning and primping.

Jennie Avatar

I hope to keep my wedding VERY low-key, so I would just wear my favorite makeup that looks nice in pictures. A nice coppery eyeshadow with some dark blue accents to play up my blue eyes, some blue & black liner, black mascara. Probably MAC Captive lipstick, since that’s what I get the most compliments on.

Jill Avatar

I dont remember wearing much more than a tan and some mauve lip shine (on my face that is) on my wedding day. It was sunny day on a lovely beach, actually, and my sister (maid of honor) did my makeup for me after each of us had drank a cocktail.
Im proud to say that we are still happily married, and working year # 21 !! Marriage is definitely not for the weak!!

kate Avatar

My inability to plan anything at all about my wedding might be one of the reasons I’ve been engaged for three years, LOL.

Originally, I figured that I’d have someone else do it, in which case the choice would be dictated by what they had, but more recently, I’ve come to realise that I might as well do it myself, because that way I’ll be able to make sure I have something I really love. I figure, I’ll see what colours I end up using and then determine what would go with it.

Irene Avatar

I had a small wedding celebration a few months after my actual wedding, so instead of wearing white, I chose a 50s red velvet gown, and did my own make-up in a toned down retro style. I used MAC Vanilla, Pink Venus, Howzat and Hey on my eyes, Fluidline in Blacktrack for a subtle cat eye, Desert Rose blush, Cream Color Base in Luna as a highlighter, and Russian Red lipstick (all MAC). I also dusted some Too Faced Candlelight on the décolletage.
I chose to do my own make-up because one, my skintone is so fair (NC5-10) I was worried about ending up orange as it has happened before with some MUAs, and second, I know what I like and since I wasn’t going to do anything particularly difficult, it would save me money.

Angelique Avatar

I did my own make up for my wedding. The lasting power of a product was very important to me. For my face i used paramedical dinair airbrush makeup, it covered my imperfections and lasted all day. For the eyes I used L’oreal 24hr infalliable eyeshadows, with waterproof eliner and mascara. for the lips i used Maybeline’s super stay 24hr color. Thank goodness for all of these long wearing formulas now. They sure helped I think back now and I don’t now what would have happened if i had to touch up during the long day.

nawal Avatar

for my makeup I want to a makeup artist and she was amaze-balls ! I usually stick with neutrals but, for my wedding look I had a royal purple cut crease eye with a light lavender lid, winged out liner, full dramatic lashes and a berry lip. I only remember her using MUFE HD foundation and Benefit lipstick in drop dead red ( just a lil bit so it’ll look berry). My look was full on glam ! it’s great that I stepped out of my comfort zone, I didn’t look like the usual me and not like a different person. It was really perfection, if I could upload a photo I would ! FYI my wedding was at night and had over +450 guests thats why it had to be a glam look rather than oh-natural 🙂 for my engagement party, because it was only like 10 people I obviously did my own makeup but I didn’t apply lashes. My sister also designed both dresses for me how awesome is she you guys? 🙂

JEN Avatar

With all the help of your website, youtube gurus and the internet, I think I may just do my own makeup for my future wedding whenever that will be. I’m thinking I will do something my future husband recognizes me in and not too much that will look too unnatural. I don’t want to try anything new for my wedding makeup as well.

FACE

Some kind of well made primer (maybe by Hourglass)
Foundation: MAC Face and Body – always looks great in photos
Powder – Rimmel Stay MATTE powder in Translucent
Contour powder – a matte shade; not so sure yet
Blush – a really nice coral pink shade (maybe Coralista?)

BROWS- MAC Charcoal Brown e/s with Anastasia Brow Gel

EYES
Lid – MAC Expensive Pink
Crease – MAC Soft Brown
Outer V, inner crease – MAC Quarry?
Liner – LORAC Pro Prime liquid liner in brown or black
Lashes – Individual lashes
Mascara – Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Waterproof
Bottom lashes – Clinique bottom lash mascara

LIPS
Lip liner – No.7 Nude liner
Lipstick – Giorgio Armani Feather Pink or MAC Jubilee?
Lipgloss – Rimmel Stay Glossy in Non-stop Glamour or MAC Ample Pink plushglass?

Man it’s really hard to think what I would do with my makeup on the wedding day but I think that’s my vision at the moment. I think it will probably change but we will see when the time comes.

Bella Avatar

I seriously wore some Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser, a Bobbi Brown pot rouge on cheeks, the same pot rouge and lip balm on lips, and black mascara. I had a 2 month old baby and no time or energy to bother wit anything else!
My pics are, according to everyone, incredible :D. i guess I radiated from within!

Jasmine Avatar

If I ever end up getting married in the future, the vision for my makeup is something very dewy and glowy, kind of a J.Lo inspired face. I would want a really smokey brown/bronze/golden eye look and definitely work in MAC patina and MAC tempting/UD deeper. I would want long and fluttery lashes, a noticeable (but beautifully blended!) contour and a flattering pinky-nude lip and gloss combo.

Morghan Avatar

I got married this august and I did my own makeup. We had some kind of celtic meets old norse wedding so the color theme was green and orange. I wore a bright green weddingdress.
I used Bobbi brown skin foundation and creamy concealer
blush me coral by mememe
MAC samoa silk, coppering and vanilla eyeshadow
Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in chocolate shimmer ink
some corner lashes
and Clinique chubby stick in mega melon on my lips.
I also had my hair dyed a bright orange-copper colour, it was all very colourful!

Jeanie Avatar

I wore Graftobian foundation, MAC studio finish concealer, cinema secrets finishing powder, MAC blushbaby on cheeks, YSL touche eclat #2 as a highlighter, anastasia brow pencil in dark brunette, soft ochre paint pot, the two matte shades in the naked palette, a smashbox dark grey eyeliner, mascara, a few individual lashes, and YSL rouge volupt in luscious rose is what I wore to my wedding last year.

Clara Avatar

I’m going to marry next summer. I still have to find the perfect Foundation. For blush, i think i’ll take mac easy manner. On eyes i would like to wear colors of Bobbi Browns Bellini Palette with dark blue, Brown or black eyeliner. I’m not sure which shade i will choose for lipstick. I’m thinking about something rosy like mac fanfare or Bobbi Browns uber pink.

Ruca Avatar

I have a double-header:

7/15/1994: I was 22 when I married the 1st husband. We eloped to Reno on a meager income, and got married @ The Chapel of the Bells. I wore very simple drugstore makeup. I recall a pale rosy-pearl color of eyeshadow by Maybelline, and a L’oreal mascara. Can’t recall the lipstick… probably nothing more.

6/7/2008: (I got it right the 2nd time when I was 36) I actually copied a Youtube tutorial for “innocent bridal” makeup from a UK guru I loved at the time. I used Stila’s Kitten for the all-over color, and MAC’s Folie for the crease. Dipdown Fluidline which I smudged out with a 208, and Plushlash mascara (still a favorite). On the lips, I wore Estee Lauder’s Double Wear lip color in Strong Coffee (the one that is like shellac with a gloss to seal). I used Bare Minerals for foundation, blush, and contouring, but this stuff was only worth it for the wedding since I’d had some sun, and it was humid and hot as Hades that June in Bermuda. I hated this foundation, and had to give it all away later.

Andrea Avatar

When I got married on Valentine’s Day of 2011 I wasn’t really into makeup so my mother did it and I have no idea what any of the brands were. It was nice and neutral though.
