Clinique Heftiest Hibiscus (04) Chubby Stick Intense
What is a Hefty Hibiscus Anyway?
Clinique Heftiest Hibiscus (04) Chubby Stick Intense ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is an orange-coral with hints of red. It has a subtle glossy sheen. MAC Scarlet Ibis is brighter and redder. Tom Ford True Coral is lighter and brighter. YSL Blood Orange is similar but sheerer. MAC Sail la Vie is more orange. Urban Decay 5150 is a touch redder. MAC Hibiscus is a touch lighter and pinker.
This winter, Clinique launched a more pigmented version of their Chubby Sticks, which are supposed to be a moisturizing lip balm. This richer version is described as a “nourishing tinted balm halfway between sheer and opaque.” The color of Heftiest Hibiscus is mostly opaque with some translucency where the natural lip color comes through–if you have naturally redder lips, this will turn redder on you as a result. It has a creamy, balm-like consistency that enables easy glide-on application and feels comfortable to wear. This shade lasted four hours on me, and it was hydrating while worn. What I like best about the Chubby Sticks, both these and the original ones, is the twist-up packaging–no sharpening required (so, no waste).

That looks much more moisturizing than other brands! Looking forward to seeing the other shades in this range 🙂
I’ve been crazy about tinted lip balms lately. I get the benefits of a lipstick (color) and a regular lip balm (apply quickly without a mirror) in one. Money is tight right now but these new Chubby Sticks look like their worth it!
I love the feel of these chubby sticks, and something just makes them so fun to apply. But after a few hours, the color had strangely migrated to the very edge of my lips, almost moving outside them. That’s never happened to me with any lip product before, so it was pretty surprising. I saw recently that Pur minerals came out with a chubby stick – even though I’m not the hugest fan of brands totally copying another’s product, I’m thinking I’ll try them out, hoping they’ll wear better on me.
Not sure who came out with what first but Tarte also has similar chubby sticks that were out for awhile now. I am totally just pulling this out of thin air but I believe this is the order in which the chubby sticks were introduced: Tarte, Revlon, Clinique now Pur. Just thought I should point that out.
On another point, someone must have been the first to create the lipstick tube and other companies just copied it.
Close. Clinique came out with them before Revlon.
Christine! I love the whole look, both the lipstick and both eyes! 😀
I like it! Its a very nice color. Still have not checked these out, but this particular color really has my attention
Lol! Your two multicolored eyes are so cute!
The life of a product tester.
i like these but i love the revlon balm stains more (i’m cheap :P)
I love Chubby Sticks! They’re like cheating, a lipstick payoff without the hassle. I bought two of these, and one was Hibiscus. I love them. The nude one is my natural-but-better color, which i wear every day. The Hibiscus is my off-work winter one.
Heftiest hibiscus?! That is such a terrible name! At least it’s a pretty shade 🙂
haha, the name cracked me up! 🙂
I just love seeing you with multicolored eyes!
You’re too funny! Two different eyeshadows! We know you’re dedicated, that’s for sure! 🙂
Damn! I think I “need” this!
Love these type of colors and really like the Clinique Chubby Sticks. I am always hesitant to wear bold colors. I look at them, want them…and then pass on them lol
Aha! For the longest time, I have been rather frustrated when you don’t do full face photos. Such a good sport to share with us what it’s like when you say you try out as many products as you can for wear, teehee… I love the warm eye!
I love the intense chubby sticks. I have the Chunkiest Chili and love the color. I love all the chubby sticks but I like the intense for a great color pay off in the winter.
I would love to see a full face picture with no eye shadow or eye liner, just mascara. I think that would look so good!
cute color! very fresh. Btw, the makeup on your left eye (the orange-y gold one) looks amazing on you…pow!
I’m sorry, but chubby stick just sounds way too pervy for me.
I got teased mercilessly in high school once because of the strange trend of rummaging through friends make-up bags and seeing what they have. I like these but I wonder what went through their heads when naming this. It’s not like Nars, where they’re trying to give something a provocative name. Maybe not everyone is as pervy as us?
I love the idea of these being so pigmented, although I would definitely look at another color.
The Muse has swatches of all of the new ones, too. I don’t need this color, but there are a few I do want to pick up!
I really like the idea of these, and I am a sucker and a half for an orange lip color. I think I may have to see the formula in person though because I’m kinda picky abut these type of semi-sheer balm stain types of things. It seems lovely though!
Looks perfect!
