L’Oreal Something Shiny Infallible Lipgloss
A Barely-There, Sheer Gold-Shimmered Gloss
L’Oreal Something Shiny Infallible Lipgloss ($9.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is sheer, gold-shimmered gloss. There is a very slight yellow tint to the otherwise clear base color. MAC Phiff is similar, just has larger sparkle particles. Bobbi Brown Bare has a colored mix of sparkle.
Something Shiny adds a modicum of shimmer, but it primarily adds shine.  It also seemed to warm up my natural lip color (giving it a warmer undertone, which is nice, given my natural lip color is corpse-like!).  Because the formula is slightly drying, it’s better layered over a lipstick to add a healthy dose of high-gloss shine.  The gloss has a thin consistency and gritty, tacky texture.  This particular shade smelled mostly sweet and fruity without the medicinal quality that some of the other shades have had.  When I tried wearing Something Shiny, the shine lasted for three hours, and the shimmer had vanished by the fourth hour–not quite the eight-hour wear promised.

Way too sheer! If this was polish I would return it. lol
This is definitely not as much gold as I was hoping for when I picked it up. I already have a couple of good choices for larger and brassier gold glitter (from Black Radiance, which is made by the same parent as Wet N Wild and you can really tell from how their shadow palettes are packaged), but I’ve been looking for a really good gloss with fine, paler/yellower gold sparkle and this was kind of blah.
Try the new Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss All That Glitters. You can feel a bit of the shimmer, but it’s got pretty good pale gold color.
Ooh, that IS a good one. Plenty of sparkle, still not exactly what I’m looking for but definitely a step closer. (Maybe what I need to do is mix it a little with something that I think is too brassy and the end result will be perfect. :))
I hate the smell of these.
