Laura Mercier Art Deco Collection for Holiday 2012

the illuminating eye colors are AMAZING. WOWOWOW. i swatched them in store at sephora last week and was utterly blown away. also the LM holiday palette (this one: http://www.sephora.com/artist-s-palette-for-eyes-P376203 ) is INCREDIBLE. mattes like i’ve never seen before, seriously. christine i really hope you review this, it is a gem amidst all the mediocre holiday releases (cough MAC cough)
Have you tried the Cyber Metallic eyeshadows from Estee Lauder or the MAC Extra Dimension ones?
I’m thinking these Illuminating Eye Colors are the same formula made in Italy. 😉 Every brand and their mother will be snatching this formula up. Lancome did one in a skin finish highlighter as well that a new HG item for me.
they are nothing alike IMO. cyber eyes/extra dimension are like a cheap cut of steak. LM illuminating shadows are like the finest cut of kobe beef steak. they are in the same vein but the LM ones are soooooooooooooo much better. i was never blown away by the EL/MAC offerings but i actually was amazed by LMs.
I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!
Love some of it; will leave the rest (I almost always find it hard to do the “love it or leave it” with a whole collection as there are almost always a few things I really want and others that are total “no way” items for me).
Everytime I see « Art Deco » written somewhere, I’m becoming very curious. Thank you for this article ; it made me discover the new Laura Mercier collection and now, I’m really looking forward to trying those amazing lipsticks, more particularly Deco Rouge and Sienna.
Hi Christine
This question is completely off topic, for months I have been searching for a dark reddish brown eye or brow pencil. Think MAC Embark or the dark brown in the wet n wild vanity Palette but in pencil .
All suggestions are welcome
Thanks alot
I’m unfortunately not familiar with red-toned brow pencils 🙁
MAC SPIKED IS A GREAT BROW PENCIL.
I don’t own any LM. I want to try some of the products.
I wasnt sure if Id like it, but was kind of underwhelmed with her holiday offerings. When I saw the Art Deco collection, I fell in love! I purchased the bronze shadow. It has great color payoff, but when they described it as “bouncy textured” I was hoping that it was that meant it was like Chanel’s illusions d ombre. Hmmm. I also purchased the gilded veil gloss– love it– and tamara red creme lip (my first red lipstick purchase in YEARS!) I do not find Tamara as being an Orange Red , as described and pictured above. I am almost wondering if my tube was mislabeled? I love it, It is deeper, almost brick . All in all, a classic look.
This is okay I guess…but it needs more color variety.
Not bad – shame the packaging isn’t more Art Deco, though ….
