MAC Shiny Pretty Things Colour Collection Swatches

MAC Shiny Pretty Things Colour Collection
MAC Shiny Pretty Things Colour Collection

Here are swatches of the just released MAC Shiny Pretty Things Colour Collection. The colour collection features two highlighters, five lipsticks, five lipglosses, five eyeshadows, and four liquid eyeliners. I’ll give a fair warning that the eyeshadows are glitter-packed and do live up to the claim of having “endless, shifting depth and dimension” and found the shades to shift and move significantly depending on the temperature of the lighting (Joy To looked blue in some lighting and lavender in others, and then it had an oddly warm-toned base that came through when angled and in photographs).

There are also a slew of sets and the like, which I don’t have at this time — I’m confirming whether I’ll be receiving samples, and if not, I’ll be prioritizing what I think I can purchase and review in a timely manner, but I don’t have anything to share at this time. Thank you for understanding!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Hi!
Thought I’d put your frustration to rest, since I totally agree it would have been awesome if the advent calendar Mac put out in Europe would contain stuff from the shiny pretty things collection. That however is not the case… They did put out a calendar and they call it the shiny pretty things calendar. But it is filled with regular and mostly mini versions of some of their most common products from their regular collection like a mini fix plus, some lip liners a lipstick and so on. In other words not very shiny pretty things…;)

Midnight Toast Dazzleliner – yes please! Love Snowflushed too – that shade is my weakness and I buy every product that comes out in that color.

Oh yikes!! I ordered some of the shadows, didn’t realize there was so much glitter, hoping there’s no fallout. Glad to hear they really shift in color though! Thanks for the swatches

Even though I *always* wait for your swatches and reviews, I didn’t this time. Mainly due to having a sneak peek and getting to swatch the testers ahead of time, I fell hard for several of the products! And…my friendly SA let me know that certain shades would sell out almost immediately: Snowflushed, for one. The eyeshadow formula is very different! That shifting in Joy To only gets even more intense when applied over a deep shade, and it’s already super shifty! (just try it over a deep plum/aubergine like Sketch or something similar, you’ll see what I mean)

That’s what I got. I bought all of the single shadows and snowflushed msf. Temptalia’s swatches of the lipsticks and lipglosses have me thinking about trying some of these too.

I bought babetown lipstick and joy to eyeshadow and to be honest I love them! Babetown feels plusher and less drying then their usual cremesheen formula and can’t wait to wear joy to, it’s got a lot more blue shifting sparkles and I want to wear it to my xmas party

What an amazing collection and lots of great options here.
Don’t worry Christine -you can only get through what is available and what you think will be best. We trust your judgement and with all the other releases from the brands, you do pretty, jolly well.

Note to brands: this is what you do when you want to have some glittery eyeshadowd – you release them as singles and not put them in the middle of palettes. Then customers can choose if they want particular glitter numbers or not.

I already have Oh Darling from a previous limited edition release so I purchased Snowflushed which I was debating because I didn’t know of it would be too dark for my skin tone. The packaging, how it’s pressed into the pan to look like it’s gift wrapped with a bow,the chrome finishes and the colors they picked are all stunning I wish they would have created a new Extradimension Skinfinish instead of rereleasing Oh Darling again. They had most of the collection in my local Ulta so I got to see everything in person swatch it and get it all for 20% off you can’t beat that!! I also picked up P For Pink, Joy To, Major Win, and Make A Wish. They don’t carry Just Chilling in store or online so I think it may be a MAC exclusive. I’m interested in the Dazzleliners but I want to see how they review before I purchase.
