What eyeshadow palette (that you own) inspires you the most?
Pat McGrath’s Decadence palette! There’s no palette that makes me want to dive headlong into color and just play, particularly because it’s not the most cohesive palette on its own. Every time I use it, it’s such a delight.
Right now it’s The Emily Edit: The Wants. I’ve actually used it all week and I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface. It’s so inexpensive I think I may get a backup!
Consistently over time it’s been the UD Full Spectrum palette.
I just got The Wants and have been having fun with it, too! That Corduroy, the green, is fun in my crease with deep gold on the lid. What looks have you been doing with yours?
Your post made me look up the Wants palette because I forgot about it. It looks like it would be a great palette to travel with. And the price is a no-brainer. So I might just pick one up if I find it in the store. Thanks, Hollie!
It is a really good palette and the shades included will provide so many different looks. I’m not sure about traveling with it because of its size, I suppose it depends on how one travels. I do think it would be secure enough with it’s hard plastic casing plus the mirror is very good.
I second Decadence, its an absolutely lovely palette. Best eyeshadow purchase I’ve ever made.
Juvia’s place Masquerade palette currently. There are a ton of beautiful colors in there that really pop on my pale skin. I usually avoid a lot of bright colors that are that pigmented because they tend to end up being too bold and the look just overwhelms me.
Viseart Tryst. I play with more colors now than I would’ve ever tried had I not purchased it.
Silly as it sounds, it’s a toss up between the Morphe Jacklyn Hill palette and the Morphe 39A. Both have a wide array of shades and finishes and I tend to get very creative with the looks I can do with those palettes. Anytime I break out one of those two and do something more than just a basic smokey eye I get compliments. I could probably discard all my palettes but those two and be set for life. 🙂
ABH Modern Renaissance. Even after 2 years I’m still inspired and creating different combos. It’s the most wearable, my most used and my most diverse palette!
ABH Modern Renaissance.
Yay thanks for featuring my question 🙂
As silly as it may sound, my Z palette actually brings me more inspiration than any other palettes. There are a lot of impulse purchases of weird colors (a bunch of greens, shimmery olives, and blues) so it forces me to get out of my comfort zone quite a bit.
What a difficult question! For me, it changes on a day-to-day basis. All of my palettes have their own distinct personalities, and a palette that was inspiring one day, might seem not worth the effort the next day.
But if I have to answer, then I would say this: If all of my MAC single shadows were together in one giant palette, that would be my most inspiring palette. (But I like them as singles, and would never depot!)
I hardly ever actually buy palettes because I usually only ever really want like two or three shades. My vanity (which is big, it’s an old fashioned vanity table with a mirror) is covered in clutter already!
I was eyeing Pat McGrath’s Subversive and Subliminal palettes really bad last time I went to Sephora tho. All her Mothership palettes are insane, especially the unique way the shimmers catch light. They remind me of the way MAC made me feel back when I was a makeup kiddo in the 00s, which is saying a lot considering how far the whole industry has progressed with formulas since then, and with the crazy saturation we have how hard it is for anything to stand out after initial hype dies down.
Natasha Denona Lila, without any hesitation on my part! I can bring my look using it from a cooler taupe neutral, to a gold and copper look, to a plum and copper look, to an industrial strength purely purple look! I’m fairly certain that there are some looks yet to be explored in this palette, too.
The Urban Decay Vice and Vice 2 palettes. I think the color choices were very interesting and it makes me coming back to them and thinking of new ideas!
That’s tough! I had to think about this one. Naturally, I couldn’t narrow it down to just one.
*ABH Modern Renaissance — everyday neutral eyes, smokey eyes, pink eye looks, goth red smokey eyes, glamour looks… It seems like there’s nothing this palette can’t do (except cool looks, I suppose). Love Letter even turned out to be the best shade for my brows! (I bought it as a single just for that purpose.)
*UD Electric — I love how bright the colors are, and how I can do a whole wild eye look or add just a pop of neon to any look. That inspires me to think how my other palettes will work with it.
*KVD Saint + Sinner — because of the unusual combination of colors, the large variety, and the quality.
*ABH Artist Palette — It’s not their best quality palette, but like Saint + Sinner, the odd color combination is fun and challenging.
*UD Urban Spectrum — because the shadow colors and quality are amazing!
The ABH modern renaissance!! I hit pan on every single shade except Cyprus umber!! It inspires me to go out of my warm brown/bronze comfort zone. And it makes me feel excited to play with makeup!!
This is so tough to answer: it is a combination of palettes that I use that continually inspires me:
bareMinerals The Playlist and Soft and Smokey
Lorac Pr Metals
and lately Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar.
Lots of different colour combinations that work for me.
Chocolate Semi Sweet from Too Faced. I love that palette, I think it complements my skin tone, color of my eyes and hair. I always get creative with this palette and I love every look that I make with it
Oddly, ABH Prism
ABH Subculture. It can be a little tricky to work with but that inspires me to be more creative and focused. I also don’t have those colors in any other palette, so I love to see what I can do with them.
Viseart Bijoux Royal… It always inspires me to get out of my comfort zone. And the jewel tones are muted enough to be office friendly.
I so regret postponing buying the Decadence palette… Especially since I bought her 6 pans palettes !
Right now, I am in love with two palettes, ABH Modern Renaissance and Urban Decay Heat together. They both have great color stories, and together, they just say fall. I always seem to be able to incorporate ABH Modern Renaissance with so many other palettes, but those two are an almost daily used palettes.
All of the Pat McGrath palettes~ I have just one: Platinum Bronze, and I want more! Hands down the best shadow formula ever! In the past I have used multiple colors at one time to achieve my desired look, but with Mother’s palette I have followed her lead and use just 2 colors. The payoff is just that good~
