MAC Undercover Nude Nail Lacquer
MAC & Carine Roitfeld: Undercover Nude Nail Lacquer
MAC Undercover Nude Nail Lacquer ($17.50 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer clear nude.” It’s a sheer light beige with a cream finish. Why does MAC describe this one as “sheer” and “clear” but that nearly colorless lipstick as “sheer” and “translucent.” The descriptions would be better if switched – as this polish is definitely not clear (sheer, yes!). Chanel Beige Petale is similar. MAC Sandpiper is darker, more opaque. Essie Kisses & Bisses is iridescent.
Unfortunately, this was a pale cream that was definitely streaky to work with. It wouldn’t self-level for me, and I attempted three different applications to get it to be even, but I didn’t have any luck. It levels out just slightly but not enough to be even and smooth. I think this is a color that works for a sheer shade, and it’s very work-friendly. It gave my nails a brighter, cleaner look–but it was streaky. The formula was slightly thick, but two coats didn’t feel too heavy. I typically get a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with MAC’s polish formula.

come now mac! seriously?
I can’t help but love this. Very feminine and dainty looking.
But you could definitely find polishes of a similar colour/sheerness with better quality and lower pricing. 🙁
This is hilarious. For the money you can get two (maybe three) Essie colors in similar shades and get much better color payoff with no streaks.
I never drank the MAC Kool-Aid but there are some things they are just known for, right? Full pigmentation, a billion shades, quality products and all that? This nail polish has none of it. This LE line is totally ruining their reputation.
*This* LE line? This has been happening for a whiiiiile.
(Also, the colour payoff looks okay, since it’s being described as “sheer”. The streaks though… loooord have mercy.)
I don’t even bother with MAC anymore. All they do now is constantly pump out new LE product with sub-par quality. Not where I want to spend my hard earned money.
I don’t blame you at all. I did buy from Heavenly Creatures, but that collection was like a complete anomaly to the way MAC’s been going. There are so many better brands that should have our money anyway.
Sheer nude polish…at a high end price. There are about a billion dupes for this out there with better formulas to boot.
So true!
I do like the idea of this – but I actually own an almost identical polish, Wet n Wild 2% Milk. Only $2, and not streaky at all!
bahahahahahaha!
I didn’t expect it to be that sheer!
This is just sad. I don’t know much about the business end of MAC as I haven’t ever cared enough to find out, but did they recently (over the last year or two) come under new ownership? Or do they have a new director or president or something? Because MAC is going so far downhill anymore and there has GOT to be a reason for it. When you used to be one of the most respected names in the game and now there are drugstore brands far surpassing nearly everything you’ve put out recently? Something is wrong with this picture
It would be so much better if it wasn’t streaky. Other than that, it’s okay. Nothing amazing. I would opt for a dupe instead.
Leighton Denny does a really good brightening nudey pink natural shade which looks so much nicer than this. It is called Starkers and it makes nails look really healthy and clean and improves the look of stains. Non streaky and super glossy. This one just looks rubbish.
I like the nude look a lot, but too bad it streaks so badly 🙁
I may fnd an occasion to wear polish as sheer as this. For instance, this pin I just came across!:

I like this colour, it like a quick manicure.
So I don’t get these comment’s at all! And I didn’t get any streaks. Just use more on the brush.
Love it!
