After trying the high-end mascara route for a while last year, I am back to drugstore and loving it. I don’t really get tempted by any high-end ones anymore (except that YSL blue mascara–loved Stella McCartney’s look with the electric blue, feathery lashes!!)
@Becca @The Beauty Sample Would love to know your BEST drugstore mascaras, I’m trying to get off of high-end ones too.
@LyseDavitt I’m not impressed with HE mascara, either. I keep going back to L’Oreal Voluminous, which I’ve been using for 20+ years. I haven’t really tried too many brands (HE or DS), since I found something that works well for me.
@xamyx @LyseDavitt Thanks
@LyseDavitt @The @The I know techinically you didn’t ask me, but I wanted to weigh in. L’oreal Voluminous Million Lashes is amazing. I use the carbon black color. I get compliments all the time when I wear it. If you are going for a natural look, Almay One Coat Volumizing is quite good too.
@Liz9969 @The Thank you
@LyseDavitt @The @The I also recommend L’Oreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes. I’m quite fond of Maybelline’s Stiletto and Volume Express Lines, as well. (Some people tell me they’ve had smearing with Stiletto, but I’ve never had that problem, personally.)
Is it just me or do those bottom lashes on the second picture look horribly clumpy?
Forget about the mascara, how amazing does that eyeliner look?? 🙂
The concept of this new MAC mascara sounds great, though. I’ll probably try this one.
It seems this came out a few years ago. Did they just change the formula, or did they just discontinue it and rerelease it?
@xamyx New shade I believe 🙂
The pictures make me want to run away as far as I can from this mascara!!
The model has fake lashes on both photos so the actual result of the mascara can only really be seen on the lower lashes: 1st picture, not impressed by the length, curl or separation ; 2nd picture, are you kidding me?? Lashes are awfully clumped together in thick, shoe-shine like black mud that doesn’t even look deep in color! Ew!
@Lulle Yeah, I’m tired of seeing false lashes, lash inserts, etc. etc. in mascara ads. I don’t mind Photoshop or post-processing, but it should be to clean up an image – adjust lighting, highlight a certain area, etc. Fade those fine lines! Erase a little smudge that only macro photography would pick up. Just don’t fake the lashes!
I got this the other day and love it. Super black and unclumpy (which is #1 must for me)
I’d be more interested if I could actually SEE most of the lashes, but the eyeliner is making that hard…and then I found out that they’re fake eyelashes, so no. Just no.
Wow, with how clumpy the bottom lashes look in the second picture, I would never be tempted by this mascara. And I love trying new mascaras! Loving how painfully obvious the fake lashes are though!
@Karen Really? I don’t think the lashes look false, but I do think they chose a model who has naturally very long, full lashes. Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s misleading, though.someone with skimpy lashes would likely never get this result.
@xamyx
False lashes can be seen on both images. First pic – individual lashes, and second – full set. In my opinion the lashes on the second picture are attached badly as you can clearly see the inner edge sticking out. Not really a big fan of the second image altogether – badly attached lashes, clumpy bottom lashes, and a strange brow angle.
My god that’s the worst promo pic I’ve ever seen. Why even bother putting false lashes on the top when you clump up the bottom lashes? All around disaster.
Ewww I hate the way the bottom lashes look in the second picture!
yeah it’s weird not artistic at all , but the worst of this picture is that the width of the fake lash is visible in the inner corner of the eye, that is so…awful in a promo pic 🙁
This is really disappointing as I love this mascara and I’ve seen MAC SA”s wear this, with no fake lashes and it is amazing.
Hi Christine, do you have any idea on what shadows were used for these promo pictures? Love the colors and would like to get them, the lighter pink looks like yogart. Not sure of the rest??? thanks
@ms mad No idea! Maybe Creme de la Femme?
@ms mad Err, I think that’s Creme de Violet. de la Femme is a lipstick!
