What's your go-to date night perfume?

What’s your go-to date night perfume? What makes it your go-to? Does it just seem date night appropriate? Do you feel extra confident in it? Or do you go scent-free?

Tom Ford Oud Wood for sure.  It’s super sexy to me, so it screams date night!  It’s heady, confident, and powerful.

I go scent free for the most part, but lately I’ve been wearing this Victoria Secret body spray…but the name has worn off the bottle so I’ve got no idea what it is…it’s in a red and black bottle and it doesn’t give me a migraine! 🙂

Montale – Jasmine Full
It’s the most enticingly real jasmine scent. I feel like I have a jasmine flower tucked behind my ear when I wear it. It’s so natural smelling, not alcohol-y, or saccharine it makes me feel effortlessly beautiful.

I don’t have a current one. It used to be Giorgio Armani’s Armani Code, though. That was a fragrance that was a head turner and would actually make random people come up and sniff me! It had a sweet, but spicy smell/feel to it that I loved.

Hopefully this comment posts. Haven’t been liking the new system. Maybe it’s too much going on for my brain.

Lou Lou by Cacharel. Nearly impossible to acquire in the US, but so worth the effort. It’s not only my “date night” perfume, but it has been my signature scent for nearly 25 years. I don’t know what it is about this scent, but it just works with me. I actually garner alot of attention whenever I wear it, perhaps because it is so unique. However, when I don’t have access to it, I tend to go with a simple rose scent.

Brittany Avatar

its either beyonce’s heat or britney spear’s midnight fantasy…i normally go for midnight fantasy cause it just has the beautiful berry night time scent.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb for me. It’s ridiculously expensive in Australia but every time I wear it, people tell me I smell great.  I only wear it on special occasions though. Can’t afford to make this one my signature!
Previous date night scents were Armani She, Armani Code or Anna Sui Dreams. Always had comments when I wore any of them.

I don’t go on dates because I’m done with guys (not bitter at all, no), but it would have been Ralph by Ralph Lauren – the unsexiest name ever for a lovely fragrance.

TF Amber Absolute. My favorite!
all the guys i know love it and find it sexy(they wear it too) but girls hate it.. most of them.

Dreamer by Versace – I know it’s a men’s scent but not mixed on my skin. It comes off very sweet and leathery. Like a yummy close to you skin sort of smell. My husband absolutely loves it on me.

It would be a toss-up between Dior Addict and J’adore L’Or. I get lots of compliments from both, but Addict is probably more of a head turner. I think I’d wear Addict on the first date to guarantee a second ;3

Si Lolita by Lolita Lempicka.  Very spicy and sexy.  I tend to  love spicy, woody florals that also have amber notes so this was perfect for me!

Either Stella by Stella McCartney or For Her by Narciso Rodriguez (in the black bottle with pink text). I love both anyways, but what really convinced me they were great for such activities was when I had all the boys in class and the players at work telling me I smelled delicious!

L De Lolita Lempicka, it’s a vanilla base that works well with my body chemistry without smelling overly sweet and I always get complements when I wear it. Sadly it has been discontinued… But at least I have a couple of backup bottles stashed away. 🙂

I’d say my date night scent is coco mademoiselle.  It’s kind of floral, musky, and woodsy to me.  I love the scent, but I didn’t pick it out.  My boyfriend did, and I’d say he did a awesome job, because I love it and never would have picked it for myself.

My husband loves YSL’s Parisienne on me, he calls it “Pears and Flowers” even though pear is not one of scents in it. He gets all pouty when I don’t wear it, hehe! I, however, love Le Labo Rose 31 for myself. It smells like sex to me, therefore its a great date night scent!

Iliana Avatar

May i mention my top 3? 🙂
– Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille (a beautiful smoky vanille, very grown-up and sensual)r
– Serge Lutens Daim Blond (sophisticated suede, powdery violet/iris and refined musk make it irresistable)
-Kilian Back to Black (mouth watering honey, raw pipe tobacco and cherries…. Divine!)

These fragrances get me the most compliments from both men and women but especially men. I adore them!

The one by Dolce and Gabanna or in the past I used to wear Gloria by cacharel but is out of stock and I only it use it in special nights 😉

Vera Wang Princess. Even guys that hate perfume like it, and it’s not too strong. I used to also like that Victoria Beckham pink one (Intimately Beckham?) sold at drugstores, but no clue if they even make it anymore.

I used to love <i>Black Cashmere</i> by Donna Karan, but I’m not sure they still make it – which is too bad, because it was quite amazing in a lot of ways. I bought it in the duty-free shop the first (and, sadly, only thus far) time I visited Reykjavik and subsequently wore it there, so an added bonus for me is that it evokes a whole host of memories of those Icelandic summer evenings: pale skies even at dusk and just the right amount of chill in the air.

Now that I’ve run out of <i>Black Cashmere</i>, I tend to wear Illamasqua’s <i>Freak</i>, which smells somewhat similar but is also a really, really nice scent in its own right. I don’t always wear it in the daytime as it does pack a powerful punch, but its boldness and headiness, and well as its enigmatic undertones, make it a perfect, if slightly quirky, choice for date nights.

@Vex I’ve been savoring the last of my Black Cashmere lotion for a while now. It’s only for the most special occasions. I’ll have to try out Freak for a replacement option.

I’ve never been on a date… so Idk! Haha! Maybe if I did, I’d wear my signature YSL L’Homme. There’s also the new Guess scent for men that I’m really liking.

GREAT question! I love perfume discussions. Hell, I love perfume, period. Possibly as much as — if not more — than I love lipstick!  Date night perfume if I want to feel or be seductive:  YSL’s Opium. I don’t know why but it makes me feel extra seductive and irresistible, more than would be the norm with musky, spicy scents.  If I want to feel sophisticated though, it’s “24 Faubourg” by Hermès. I’m a sucker for Hermès perfumes.  It used to be Cartier’s Baiser du Dragon, but then my mother appropriated the scent for herself (which still irritates me).

Kafka Avatar

I don’t blame you, the bottle is lovely! All that scroll work delicately etched in and the curved shape that’s simple, yet chic.  (Reminds me a bit of the lovely Montana perfume with the curved, frosted glass like resembles a woman’s body.) What led you to stop wearing 24 Faubourg for the scents you listed above?

Kafka Avatar

Heh. I wish I were kidding. In this family, all the girls get very monopolistic and territorial about their perfume. God FORBID, you ever wear someone else’s; you’ll get your head take off! LOL. As the person who asked the question, what do you wear, Jessica? Great question, btw.  🙂

rbonson Avatar

For years Chanel Coco Mademoiselle was my go-to scent not just for a date, but just for everyday wear too. It is still to this day the only perfume that random people haves stopped me to ask what I’m wearing. Unfortunately, my fiancé HATES it (he says it smells like alcohol–I know, WTF?). So I now rotate several scents in and out of use. My current favorite is Dior Addict 2.

AmyAngel Avatar

If I want something pretty, I go with Tiki Princess from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab – it’s my go-to for summer anyway and I adore it. For sexy, also BPAL – Snake Charmer! (Or possibly well-aged Snake Oil, but I prefer Snake Charmer.)

(1) Laura Mercier Ambre Passion, is my absolutem favorite but it’s no longer released by LM, at least as far as I know. I’m almost out of my original bottle, so I only wear it once in awhile.

(2)Prada Amber, I think it’s comfortably sensual. Not overpowering but definitely more than pleasant!

mizfluffy Avatar

Usually I mix a lotion and perfume. I pick  from Dior Addict, Tom Ford Black Orchid, Michael Kors, Angel, Chanel Gardenia, Dior Hypnotic Poison or I try a new release. I try to mix something spicy with something sweet or floral.

It was Philosophy’s Amazing Grace perfume until they changed the formula (the new one SUUUUCKS).  I’ve turned to Lush’s Lust perfume for comfort….

beachgal Avatar

I have to check that out next shopping trip…heard a lot of their things were no longer the same. I always did like AG and mixing it with the others in the line up. I hope they did not change Falling In Love – that and Pure (in the o de parfum  – not the spray fragrance are favs of mine – esp to mix).

beachgal Avatar

I used to wear what I wanted to long as it was not that strong – after living for years with a man who could not deal with even most hairsprays – scents were really touchy for him and set off horrible sneezing …I am really careful what I wear until I get to know a person. Thus I tend to stick with something light such as Donna Karen Cashmere Mist, an old ‘last’ bottle of the now discontinued original Tova, last on the list would be the o de parfum of ‘Falling In Love’ from Philosophy…something about it having blackberry in it drives most men nuts. But those while I like them all are not my first go to choices for my own liking. I am a huge Chanel #5 fan & the original Stella by S. McCartney. I went through almost an entire bottle of Lovely by SJP and then had 2 folks tell me they had to move their seat at a concert because of my perfume. I did not want to wear it after that.

Harajuku Lover’s “Love” – go ahead and laugh lol, but yeah, it’s cute and when I’m going to spend a day with my husband going out and such, I’ll usually grab that one – or Fragrances of Ireland “Caru,” which my husband seems to especially love – I’m kind of addicted to perfumes though – so sometimes it’s hard for me to pick in general – like I love Chloe’, Too Too, and Poppy and like 50483404 others as well, but those 2 specific scents are my usual go-to when I think of “date night.”

Shaina Avatar

DEFINITELY Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs! It smells soooo good! It’s clean, floral, and a little bit sweet! I ALWAYS get compliments on it. When I hug people, they always tell me I smell good! It’s wearable for day and night. When I wear it I feel so pretty! MUST HAVE.

Megan Avatar

Depends on which date. I usually go for Armani Code-absolutely amazing and great for date night. And then there’s Hypnotic Poison which is like a third date kinda perfume. 😉
