Aquarius

Bite Beauty Aquarius Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark purple with strong, warm pink undertones and a satin finish. It was, in fact, quite aptly described by Bite as a “berry plum,” as I found myself looking through berry, plum, and purple for dupes and not finding as many as I wanted to find that were that similar.

The texture was dense and firm until it started to warm up against my lips, as the first stroke tugged gently, but as I glided it across my lips, it “melted” and felt creamier and delivered opaque color coverage in a single layer that applied evenly. The consistency of the lipstick was lightly creamy on but had slight tackiness, which helped it adhere for better and longer wear. It seemed to smooth out my lip lines a bit, too, which was nice to see. On me, it wore well for seven hours and was hydrating over time.

Bite has restocked this shade at least once to my knowledge, though I haven’t yet to see it stay in stock, but here’s hoping that we’ll see more restocks.

Formula Overview

$26.00/0.15 oz. - $173.33 Per Ounce

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche LipstickΒ ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have β€œbold, creamy color” with β€œextreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable.

The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamy with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They have a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

I was able to grab this on one of the very brief restocks and I got it in the mail today. I was a little desperate for it as a February Aquarius who collects purple lipsticks. So happy to see it reviewed well!

It seems from the Bite Instagram that they aren’t planning on making more, but hopefully they will reconsider since so many people are requesting it. I really dislike when LEs to this quickly.

I’m a huge fan of berry and purple lipsticks, so it shocks me that I don’t have a perfect dupe for this one. I agree 100% with what you’ve said: it feels a little stiff at first, but then it glides on and it looks perfect.

I’m glad that I managed to grab it when it was restocked, but I still think that Bite did a crappy job of forecasting for this one. It was in stock in Canada for maybe four hours on the first day and, when they restocked, it was there for just a few hours more. That’s really not fair. I just hope that they do the same thing that they did for the Lip Lab releases, and bring them all back for a while at the end of the year.

I’m tired of purples but I’m glad that they did a nice job with this shade regardless. So excited for the rest of the line! I think it’s a bit gimmicky to have these LE’s, but it creates hype which I guess is the point πŸ˜‰

This is Bite’s Eggplant, renamed as Aquarius. I’m incredibly disappointed that I spent $26 on it when I already had Eggplant. I applied one to my top lip and one to the bottom lip and you’d never know they were different shades.

Hi Lis,

What’s your coloring? I just swatched both after reading your comment, but mine are definitely not the same shade. Eggplant is more muted, warmer, with less pink/purple to it and appears lighter overall, and then Aquarius is deeper, cooler, and more berry/purple.

Lis Risch Avatar

I wear Ceylon in NARS Sheer Glow, 117/Y225 in MUFE Ultra HD, 27 Alabaster (N) in Clinique Superbalanced, N3/NW20 in MAC.

That is so intriguing how the same shade can look so vastly different on different people! I’ll be honest, I wish Eggplant looked on me the way it looks on you!

On me they are definitely not the same. I’m sorry they look so similar on you! What’s your coloring/usual colors you gravitate towards? I have both and just pulled them to double check and for me Eggplant is much pinker/lighter whereas Aquarius is far more purple and berry and a bit deeper. For reference I’m about NW-05/Fenty 100/KVD L42 or 1 with neutral tones and now red hair (it’s normally blonde but red far a role). I gravitate more towards shades like Aquarius (fuller-bodied kind of color, more purple, more berry) vs Eggplant colors (more pinky/magenta). For me they look quite different on.

Wish you had a better experience! But it’s for sure not a repackaged Eggplant.

I got this one as soon as it hit the website as these are always my favorite colors. The purple-berries are my MLBB and I still mourn the loss of the Natalie Portman-inspired Stila Natalie lipstick all the time. This is like a much more pigmented version of that. It’s absolutely glorious and show-stopping IRL. Bite often does very well on these limited/monthly releases (and when they haven’t they replaced it with a better version which is awesome) so I’m looking forward to the rest of the release. Though this was an incredibly high starting point. I may even sneak a backup.

I was wondering if you (or anyone else reading this!) Has the Too Faced Peach whatever lipstick in Drunk Dial? I have that, and it LOOKS very similar, but between viewing on the computer screen and my coloring, it’s really hard to judge online! Trying to see if I need to try to chase this down! Thank you!!

Claire Renee Avatar

What a gorgeous shade. Unfortunately I don’t think I could pull it off. I am very pale (nc15) with bad dark circles. Somehow purple shades make me look like Lily Munster

Lis Risch Avatar

Hey, Christine, did you notice on the top of the package that this color was 1/20? If they are coming out with 20 shades (even though there are only 12 zodiac signs!), this is going to be a very expensive endeavor for anyone anticipating collecting the entire set! ?

Hi Christine, I may be in the minority here, but does this have the same scent as the regular Bite lipsticks? Because I can’t stand lemon scented lip products πŸ™
