I cannot with the layout of the Kalidoscope palette. I guess it mimics the shapes and colors in a kaleidoscope? But the neutral pallet looks super pretty. I’ll have to wait for swatches though, since Daydream and Subscribe look identical.
I hope that people who think layouts like the Kaleidoscope palettes are ridiculous don’t still buy the palette. We need brands to know that wasteful, bulky packaging isn’t okay!
I adore the Daydream palette, though!
Is it just me or do the shades look the same on all three different skin tones??
No, it’s not just you- they really do all look the same!
She’s cruelty free but then does a collab with a brand that is NOT cruelty free lmao. Urban Decay is owned by Loreal so much for being cruelty free
Urban Decay itself is cruelty free and I very much think that counts.
YES! And they fought hard to stay that way when they were bought out. I still buy from cruelty free brands who are owned by a parent company that is not, I want them to see those brands doing well because money talks and I’m afraid that’s the only way to get real change!
They even cancelled selling in China, where there would be mandated animal testing, in order to stay cruelty free
I’m not a fan of the layout of the bigger eyeshadow palette, so it’s a pass for me, even if the colours are pretty. I have a lot of palettes, and I prefer ones that use space wisely.
A palette to make a palette… useless.
The bigger eyeshadow palette looks like UD resurrected its Basquiat Tenant palette.
I was thinking the same thing 🙂 The colours are pretty but the layout and the fact that the shadows are not that unique puts me off. One of the lipstick (the pink/purple one looks exactly like one of the already existent lipsticks – bittersweet ). The neutral eyeshadow palette is a different thing – I think I am going to buy this one.
One word for this collection: CONFUSING!
The *only* item that is appealing to me in the least is that one eyeshadow single. Because a good mustard yellow-gold matte is hard to find!
Completely agree with all of this! I’m excited to see Christine’s Swatch of the yellow. I recently caved and got Paper Tiger from Colour Pop but I would love an Urban Decay one to pop into an UD custom pallette I’ve got going.
This looks like pretty much the same iteration of every other UD palette release in recent history.
Those swatches… do not look at all realistic and the amount of retouching they’ve done on the models arms makes me a bit mad, to be honest. What’s wrong with having an elbow crease, FFS? And they’ve done some weird elongation /slimming thing that makes my eyes hurt – that middle arm, gosh. I don’t even care about the darn makeup… 🙁
Lol, I love your reply, I’m glad someone picks up on the oddities that I see! And I so agree about the makeup.
Oh my goodness! I was wondering if anyone would mention that middle arm! LOL It’s so gross!
I notice the shapes of the arms more then the shadows!
I immediately scrolled down because I knew I could NOT be the only one seriously disturbed by these overly photoshopped arms!
I had a UD kickback so I bought the Kaleidoscope palette and the lippie in Cloud9 early this morning. the layout of the palette doesn’t bother me. the shades look similar to the ones from Basquait (which were great). The palette has some mattes but I’ll still need to add another palette in for a good transition shade for me but that also doesn’t bother me. and frankly, for the $30 I spent for both I’m ok with the purchase.
No no no :/
How did this palette get approved
Did not one person say “hey this layout isn’t the best, let’s rethink it”
I like the colors and the split pan but I won’t be buying it because the layout really is unpleasant to my eyes
Not my colors – but I know some people will love it and that is what matters. We don’t all like the same things – cars, clothes, makeup, food etc – that is why there are so many choices! Life is good!
Interesting shades in the eyeshadow palette – but the container seems rather bulky to me.
I love the layout of the eyeshadow palette . It’s different and very appealing to my eye. Will be anxious to see the reviews of this . Not too much else in this Release would work for me.
Yeah… Just the single eyeshadow interests me. But $19 for a single eyeshadow is not something I do. I kinda like the daydream palette but I have so many peaches/corals. I can just buy singles of transition and cream eyeshadows. I’m at a point of just depotting everything and just working with empty palettes and eyeshadows that I know work. I’ve been daydreaming of cute go to palettes like from Anna Sui. ✨
For some reason I find that layout anxiety-inducing. The color story overall in this collection just kind of looks like standard UD fare of jewel tones and neutrals, pass.
*facepalm*
Oh my GOD check out the terrible photoshop job on that middle arm, it’s like they’ve randomly clipped off part of her upper arm 🙁
Also – i wish companies would actually, physically swatch the shades. there’s really no point in using photoshop to generate what they ‘might’ look like on – I want to know what the texture is.
Love the pink lipstick tops!
Easy pass on everything for me. There really aren’t any unique shades in either palette. The only one I really like is the Lime Time green, and I’m curious to see what the split pan duochrome looks like, but I wouldn’t get it for two shadows. When the palette photos first popped up online, I thought it looked like UD had a bunch of spare pans from other old palettes lying around and wanted a way to sell them…
I don’t think it’s the most cohesive collection, but I actually really like the retro-80s style of the Kaleidoscope palette. I ordered it, plus the purple Cloud9 lipstick, and the S.G.H. e/s single.
I agree with those saying that for most people, the Kaleidoscope palette looks close enough to Basquiat Tenant that they probably don’t need both. Though it’s hard to tell from their swatches: I’m pretty sure they’ve been doctored.
