ColourPop Parakeet Pressed Powder Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Parakeet
ColourPop Parakeet Pressed Powder Blush ($8.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage–not what I would consider buildable!–with a smooth, silky consistency that had some powderiness in the pan but did not appear dry applied to the cheeks. Even with a light hand a mere tap of my brush into the pan yielded a lot of coverage quickly, so the blush would be more suitable for someone who wants higher coverage out of their blushes. The texture seemed creamier and was easier to diffuse along the edges, and I did not struggle with unevenness in the initial application as I have with other shades in the formula. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
$12.00/0.28 oz. - $42.86 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly" and have a "natural and healthy flush" that has "long wear" and "can be layered to your desired intensity." It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one's skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average.

Wow, this is so much more intense than expected. Just got tulips to quit, wore with Mama, from CP order. Both are more brown than described on me, and the mama is definitely matte rust, rather than deep peach, as they described it, iirc. They are a good combo for warm just off neutrals.
It is funny how SO many of the blushes are really sheer and buildable (as they were marketed) and then a few are like whoa!
I always wonder how you rate products and based on what frame of reference… Don’t get me wrong, I like your reviews, but for example this blush looks to me like it gave you clown cheeks, you say it is so pigmented that even with a light hand it gives you enough but gave it a score of 7 on pigmentation…. I don’t know… it’s a little bit confusing and contradictory to me. Either way I will keep reading your posts! Just wanted to respectfully share my opinion.
Hi Jennifer,
Please read “Formula Overview” – it gives a high-level summary of what the brand claims the formula supposed to do and how most of the shades fit. ColourPop described the formula as buildable, and because this was so pigmented, it was not buildable – it was highly pigmented – and therefore the pigmentation was not as claimed. (The exact description on Parakeet says, “Brighten your complexion with the perfect natural flush of colour in a soft and buildable powder blush.”)
I rate based on the brand’s claims, not what I personally want or don’t want out of a product. It would be unfair to rate a product negatively solely because it was sheer if a brand actually intended that (sheerness shouldn’t be equated with bad necessarily!). Hope that clarifies!
Thank you for replying. It makes much more sense to me now. Perfect explanation and clarification. Again, Thanks you! 🙂
Yay! Glad I could help! 🙂
Because I have Cruel Intentions, and it has begun to dry up on me, this one looks like a pretty good dupe! But, WHOA; the pigmentation is off the chain! I still really love it, but gonna tap, tap, tap my brush and hope for the best.
if i dared to wear the parakeet i would look like my cockatiel. It looks like a beautiful bright color but perhaps a bit too much for me. I love Milani’s Tea Rosexwhat a beautiful shade.
Love this color!
