A Sparkling, Galaxy-Inspired Cobalt Blue Lip Look
About this Look
Kat Von D’s Bruno liquid lipstick was so pretty I was curious how well it would layer with some of the brand’s Glimmer Veils, and the only one that wasn’t buried in a box of makeup to be put away was Reverb… but then I had to see how ColourPop’s New Magic would look patted on top. Lo and behold, it created a lip that looked like cosmic awesomeness!
You can find out more about the eye/face makeup (as I just figured it might be nice to get a “full face” look with the color but didn’t match the eyes to the lips at all, it was just what I had on already) in this look breakdown! 🙂
Step-by-Step Guide
- Apply Bruno and allow to fully dry.
- Lightly layer Reverb starting from center of mouth and lightly fading toward edges.
- Using a fingertip, pat New Magic on top, focusing on the center and blending outward.
Super! And easy, too!
The latter is probably the best part… totally foolproof. Bonus: lasts through lunch.
The full effect of this is absolutely stunning but, to be totally honest, I’ve got nowhere in my life for a look like that which is kind of a shame. Anywhere I’d wear it (work, family, dinner with friends) it would simply look too much like I’d come from some dance recital or something.
I can’t say that I see many wearing noticeable lip color–blue or otherwise!–but I almost always get compliments when I do 🙂 You could always try it with something more traditional, like a plum or red, though.
I ordered Bruno. I don’t own any blue lip colors. Bruno looked gorgeous tho so I got it with my Sephora 20% off.
It reminded me a lot of OCC’s Technopagan but in that ultra-matte formula, so less maintenance! Hope you love it.
I’m going to wear it to a holiday party
WOW!! That lip look is so awesome on you!!!
Thank you, Seraphine!
You are SOOOO awesome!
You’re too kind!
That looks amazing! I love how the layers come together and how there are so many different colors coming through, it’s so pretty! Wish I could wear bold colors more often!
Me too! I could really see how each product played a role in the final result!
STUNNING. ?. Christine those LIPS!
Thanks, Shannon!!
This is AWESOME! Casual cyber punk from outer space look 🙂
Yessssss! It immediately made me think space/galaxy/cosmic!
This lip color you created using these 3 products is BEYOND cool! Inspires me to try something along these lines using KVD Televator over either K-Dub, or on top of UD Jawbreaker.
Televator would be cool over either of those!
Striking! Unfortunately you need 3 products to create
I think you can replicate a lot of the effect by using any glittery eyeshadow or product you may already have 🙂
Christine, this is SO BEAUTIFUL! I was scrolling along and stopped and gasped when I saw the amazing glimmering blue, perfectly painted by you. I am lucky in that I have the opportunity to wear blue lipstick to special occasions now and then, and I do my best to make it if not ordinary then at least acceptable. This picture was an inspiration. Thank you so much!
Rock that blue lipstick, Jenny! 😀
Such a cool look!
Thank you, ACP!
Does Bruno patch on the lips? I am afraid my last Kat’s Everlasting was Roxy and it’s extremely patchy!! What do you think? It’s really pretty.

This is absolutely stunning, Christine! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Rachel!
WOW!
Words are inadequate.
Too much of a good thing (maybe? maybe *just enough* awesomeness!) would be this lip look with the Over The Moon eye look from Kendrick (in the recent looks). 🙂
Thank you!
My love for this look is comparable to my love for OCC Technopagan. This is an event worthy lip look Christine <3
Thank you!
