ColourPop Holiday 2017 Super Shock Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Bouncy
ColourPop Bouncy Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark brown with warm, red undertones and pink and olive pearl. It had a smooth, moderately emollient consistency so it felt wet to the touch and was a little too slippery on the lid, so it did not have fully opaque coverage in one layer and took a little more work to diffuse and blend out. It wore well for 10 hours on me without fading or creasing.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Fluffy
ColourPop Fluffy Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a bright, medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was soft, smooth, and fairly blendable, but it was a product that applied most evenly when patted onto the skin with a fingertip over a flat, synthetic brush. I was able to get precision around the edges by going back in with a brush but initial application needed a fingertip for the best results. Once on the lid, it lasted well for 10 hours and seemed to have no fallout over time.

Revolution
ColourPop Revolution Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium plum with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The consistency was fairly emollient and had more slip, which gave it a more semi-opaque level of coverage than is typical for the brand’s cream eyeshadows. It was more blendable, though, along the edges for longer. It wore well for over 10 hours with slight fallout over time.

I have fluffy and I like it but on my eyelids the duo chrome disappears. It’s straight up gold. None of the pink shows up. DAE have ideas on how to make the duochrome more prominent?
I’m really liking all 3 shades a lot. Bouncy looks like a better version of So Quiche, at least for my coloring. And Revolution is just plain gorgeous! I would use that one with the purple mattes in Viseart Amethyst or the purple and plum shades I have in MAC singles, like Haux and Fig 1, or Deep Damson even.
I just want to reach through my screen and GRAB Bouncy….so my sort of shade! I have to check out all the dupes because I can’t imagine I don’t have dupes for that beauty.
Bouncy is really pretty!
These are just stunning shades, so beautiful and I think I love Bouncy the best.
I was so excited to see this review because I finally ordered one of these from Sephora Canada (I think/hope it was Revolution or Bouncy)! I love the eyelooks you created. Thanks so much for the review. ?
Wish Revolution was a few shades darker with the shimmer finish. I am still trying to find a reasonable dupe for the Estee Lauder/Victoria Beckham shade Bordeaux. Most of the listed dupes for it are LE and long gone or cost a fortune on Ebay. This might work if I add a touch of a darker purple or black. Bordeaux didn’t score very well when reviewed, if memory serves me. I can still get the palette on EL site but the shades really weren’t good quality and Bordeaux was the only one I didn’t have a close dupe for.
These shades are all beautiful but I just placed a huge ColourPop order which hasn’t arrived yet so will wait until that order comes in before making any other purchases.
I like bouncy and fluffy….they bounce and fluff. We are so fortunate to have nice makeup for a decent price. I just went overseas to Asia. Selling Dior, EL, Tom Ford and likes….but not these indie brands we have. Of course I bought some Japanese brand makeup (not in Japan). The stores did have Max Factor. Still. We are very very lucky to have so many choices and very easy to obtain.
It is amazing how much accessibility has improved over the years – I feel like most people should be able to find the right brand for them with respect to any ethical issues, price point, offerings, etc.!
I like all three.
Revolution isn’t bad!
