Where do you get the most inspiration for your makeup looks?

For me, it’s from the very products that I’m testing! I’m often restricted to a specific palette or certain singles that were released together!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Most of the time it is the products that inspire me the most. I use to look at YT videos and surf Instagram looking for inspiration but my eye shape and heavily hooded eyes made that type of inspiration very frustrating. There isn’t any way that I can make my eyes look like the smooth skinned, large mobile lid that is the main source on YT and IG. I still look at videos and IG but it is more to see what type of color combinations, how products perform, etc.

Back in the day it was Cosmopolitan/Glamour/Vogue covers. Then and now I am also inspired by what I plan on wearing clothing wise. These days I find a lot of inspiration on Pinterest and various blogs including Temptalia. I also find that as I get older I am looking more at what is most flattering to my coloring and features rather than having specific “looks”.

In general it is the season and the shades that work best for my eye colour, complexion and hair shade.
For example, in winter I wear more browns, khaki/olive, muted smokey blues etc, so I wear eyeshadows and lipsticks to complement that look.
In summer, I tend to wear brighter shades and peachy/ginger lipsticks and that governs what eyeshadows I wear as well.
