Sneak Peek: Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda Palette Photos & Swatches
Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda Palette ($58.00 for 1.23 oz.) is a limited edition, mega palette exclusively available at Sephora for the holidays. It contains 24 eyeshadows along with three cheek colors. Too Faced managed to create a holiday set that not only highlights the brand’s typical aesthetic but does so in a truly functional way with the inclusion of a zippered, soft binder and planner. Instead of cute-but-bulky pop-up scenes that end up in the recycling bin, the planner is usable and easily passed along as a gift as well.
First Impressions
As I have found over the last few palette releases from the brand, the formula is not quite their typical one. The press seems firmer while many shades seemed to have denser, better mixed textures where the powders actually bind together and go on a whole lot better on the lid (primer or not). The majority of the shimmery shades were significantly less dusty and dry compared to most of the brand’s body of work over the last few years. The mattes were velvety and finely-milled with some powderiness in the pan but seemed more pigmented, though there were a few misses in the palette judging from swatches alone. We’ll have to see how they wear and apply in practice but so far, the palette seems so much more promising and a lot less dreadful to test compared to past years’ palettes.
Wow, this looks a hundred times better than what I’m used to from their seasonal sets. Santa’s Helper, Deck the Malls and Jolly look a little sad (especially Santa’s Helper) but otherwise these swatches look lovely! The blush is very pretty and the lipstick shade is gorgeous as well. Unfortunately, ever since I bought the Grande Hotel Cafe set and a handful of other duds from them I have a hard time convincing myself that their shadows are worth the price. Looking forward to your review!
Oh jeez, looks like I missed a couple on the way down. Pinecone is depressing 🙁 These dark colors are abysmal.
This doesn’t actually look too bad and I kind of want it. I thought it would be the same sheer eyeshadows so these feelings are unexpected lol
I think they look like the same abysmal quality from the last couple of years of holiday releases from TF. That lippie looks downright painful. Thank you for the sneak peek; you are saving me sooooo much money this year!
The colors aren’t exciting me –same old every year—, but the planner is super cute. I’m on the fence on this one.
I only like plum pudding eye shadow, and the blush bronzer highlights. So pass for me!
When I saw the swatches of this last night, I was taken aback. These do look much improved compared to the past 3 years worth of garbage that TF cranked out, especially their holiday palettes! Not bad, TF, not bad!
I don’t understand the “Boss Lady” title. The shadow names are very winter/holiday themed, so where does the “boss” aspect come into it? Am I missing something or is there a disconnect going on here? :S
There’s a diary\planner attached to it. I guess they connected that to ‘businesswoman’
The swatches actually look not bad for a Too Faced holiday release, though they do seem to be the same recycled colors. Kind of cheeky of them to call the lip color “Sellout.”
Well, that doesn’t look bad at all, although a few shades are obviously misses. I think I’m sold. I mostly wanted this for the planner, but I was concerned the palette would be unusable. That doesn’t seem to be the case at all!
I think I’m in the same boat as you. I just bit the bullet tonight after seeing these swatches and ordered it. Normally TF’s products don’t do it for me, I’m just not much of a “cutesy” person, which seems to be their target market. But there is something about this agenda set that really got me. I really like the phrase on the cover. I wish it also came in black or blue because I’m not much of a pink person (the Ulta one is light blue but it’s smaller, has less interesting shades, and is not much cheaper. It didn’t seem like a good value. Plus the phrase on that cover just didn’t speak to me like this one does.) I just hope it’s a sturdy case and that the pleather isn’t cheap and flimsy (though, so far, none of the reviews on Sephora seem to indicate that it is.) And as for the makeup, I too was worried that the palette would be total garbage, but I can deal with a few fails in a palette this large. It makes me feel a lot better to know that at least it seems usable, because I would feel guilty getting it on just packaging alone. $58 is no joke to spend on trash makeup.
Can you tell me how you like it so far? 🙂
Hi Kay, I actually haven’t used it yet. It’s being saved as a Christmas present :-X I did open it briefly to make sure nothing was damaged, it was all intact. I’m sorry I can’t be of any more help.
I’m loving the palette so far! Reminds me of the Too Faced quality from 3+ years ago.
Yes, that planner looks appealing and inspiring. I wonder of measurements. A palette this thin would be very easy to pack for travel or toss into a large purse if it closes securely. I tend to do my makeup in a moving car as a passenger on a bumpy road, so this gives an option of almost everything available on one page without drawers or sections that could fall out or open unexpectedly. Otherwise, I just skip eyeshadows and blushes altogether for the sake of time. The green eyeshadow (I hope it’s actually a dark green) and a whole selecting of pinks are drawing me in.
I really want this!
I am very happy if Too Faced has improved their formula for their holiday releases but having said that, I don’t see anything very revolutionary in color or pigment here.
They messed up Love Actually. TF can’t seem to land a dark color to save their brand, it is embarrassing. For almost sixty bucks? No thanks.
Thank goodness it is so much better than past iterations and some very pretty shades there too.
Wow they do look nice for the most part! I don’t understand why TF continues to try to do some dark color with ugly glitter in it that applies super patchy and the glitter isn’t actually visible! I.e. santa’s helper. Also pinecone is cringe worthy, lol!!
It makes me kind of sad that these don’t really look all that great, but that they still blow some of Too Faced’s past releases out of the water in terms of quality…
Watching the holiday sets closely for a gift for my teenage niece. I’m pleasantly surprised by the swatches.
I certainly don’t need anymore eyeshadow palettes, but this one is very tempting. It has some very interesting shades that don’t look like anything I already own. And the planner is pretty cool. Yes, very tempting!
Nice colors. Not so very rainbow))) May be its a good choice for me! Looking for one, thank you for detailed post 🙂
Nah. Some of these shades actually look halfway decent, but some look like the usual selection of patchy Too Faced holiday shadows…and while the color selection is a little better than usual, there’s almost nothing that I can’t dupe several times over.
Deck the Malls is nice.
Thanks for taking a picture of the info section where it says the weight of ounces in the products. I always have to know that stuff for every palette I look at. gotta know you’re getting your moneys worth! I see the palette got smaller with the face stuff. And the shadows are again .03oz but before 2015 TF holiday palettes shadows were always .06 each with .14 face powders. They just keep getting smaller but still not as bad as Loracs mega pros .01oz shadows for $60!!! This tf palette looks cute but idk if I’ll be getting this one I usually get one TF holiday palette every year now bc they’re all so similar! I’ve been getting the 3 booklet ones past two years but whatever’s the most appealing is what I’ll get
Your comments, my store swatch & the kicker, a Too Faced Holiday eye look done by one of their reps won me on this palette. It’s my second one from them, Sweet Peach is the other one. I REALLY am pleased with this purchase. I can make so many very pretty and well blended & coordinated looks. They are slightly fallout prone (and of course the rep tells you tap them off), but I found if I press in a little and build more, they work fine with very little to no fallout on the face. The more shimmer or glitter shades work well with the finger, pressed on, but I’m certain other techniques like pressing with a flat brush would work. I recommend this palette if you want a workable, one-palette, all-events palette.
