($17.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “midnight blue with lots of electric blue micro-glitter.” It’s a dark, navy blue with lots of blue micro-glitter (more shimmer-like than glitter-like). It has a subtle sheen in its finish.
This is one of the less impressive shades I’ve tried by Urban Decay–it lacks all the hallmarks of why Urban Decay’s eyeshadows are famous. It’s not buttery, soft, or smooth–it’s gritty and stiff to work with. It’s not richly pigmented; instead, it’s patchy, dry, and applies unevenly. The micro-glitter is the least concerning characteristic, even though there is some fall out, it’s not too troublesome–it’s really the poor texture and color payoff that make this shade worth passing on. Try Make Up For Ever #81 is a much better alternative!

So funny – I have this and am wearing it today, and thought all the things you said about it being patchy, stiff, and hard to work with. This is why I rarely wear it!

Actually I have this eye shadow and adore it! I like to put down a creamy navy base under it and then pat it over top and do a shimmery inner eye! I recommend trying that! It may not be the easiest eye shadow to work with but once you find the right ways to use it, it’s gorgeous! I did some friends’ make up using this and they all loved it! Just how I feel about it!

If you really take the time to really pack the shit out of it on top of a dark blue or black sticky base, it’s to die for!
This is weird and was an unexpected review. I have this eyeshadow and it isn’t patchy or hard to work with for me. As a matter of fact, its smooth just like the other Urban Decay products I have. I did buy my Goddess several months ago, sometimes in 2010. Do you think the newer batches are bad possibly?
I bought mine last year and have the same problems as Christine. Maybe we just got bad batches?
That’s what I was thinking. Mine is really buttery, but it’s also a few years old. Maybe the new ones are junk?
I have it also, but I agree with everything Christine said. Terrible texture. So I dunno.
I love this shadow. I rarely wear it, because I don’t do blue often.But the texture is smooth and I find it to be highly pigmented.
oh no, I just bought this one! It looks gorgeous in the pan, of course. oh well- I used it once so far and liked it. It’s true it’s not as smooth as some of the others, but I like the color. I think I’m going to stick with it and make it work! 😀
This is the first Urban Decay e/s I ever bought. I don’t find it hard to with. It’s shimmery w/o brig chunky glittery. It a rich blue rather than a true navy. I love it.
This was also my first UD shadow, circa 2006. Mine is very easy to work with. I wonder if they changed the formulation…

I have the patchy, hard to work with, totally not buttery at all problem with my Woodstock, and all I see are great reviews on it. Do you think that different batches are made differently and some just turn out to be duds?

Sounds a bit like how I feel about Uzi…. and I know so many people who LOVE that one. To each their own, eh!
This is the only UD shadow that I actually hate. Really I can handle the other glitter ones, as they are pigmented/shimmery enough to leave a good base after the fallout occurs. I have tried Goddess wet and dry and both ways yielded the same results. The only reason I don’t throw it away is because I have every other UD shadow (single tokens) and it would throw off my collection. It’s such a drag because in the container it looks absolutely stunning.
How funny – I have this shadow and I find the glitter fallout the biggest problem with it! I’ve never really had much of a problem with the pigmentation or texture. It’s not UD’s greatest for sure, but I still find it pretty good.
I’m surprised it wasn’t an F! Easily and by far the worst product in my collection.
COMPLETELY agree with you on this one. I swatched it in-store and quickly decided that I could live without.
I’ve seen photos of this in palettes where it looks so GORGEOUS; what a shame it’s so poor!
I bought MUFE #81 eons ago…like 15 years ago. One of my first MUFE shadows from Saks….I dont think Goddess looks like #81…it appears much darker and dont have the glitter. I keep all makeup forever ….stays in my frig.

I own Bobbi Brown Midnight and it seems to look similar – but better quality.
wow, i was kind of surprised by this rating. I always heard great things about this shade
I like to do a smokey eye with a nice navy and blend with lighter shades to make it not so hi here is my blue eye shadow. But this one is a bit dense looking to me. I would really have to swatch it myself to know if I would want it. $17 for these I don’t want to make a goof. But don’t get me wrong – UD is my all time fav eye shadow…and I am sooo sad they have taken down their matte line least for now…though I think they are putting it back up slowly with the best sellers and taking out some of the wild/weird ones and putting in some new shades. I adore UD mattes – next to Laura Mercier, it’s been the best matte shades I ever found…and I need mattes – I ADORE them.

Goddess was my first full sized shadow from UD years ago. It sad it still has the same Horrible formula. XP Good thing I bought the Urban Arsenal palette first. Loved that palette so I still had something to measure the brand by.
I have tons of UD eyeshadows, and I have to agree with Christine’s review. This shade has noticeably less pigment than most of their shades. It doesn’t stay on the brush well. I found a Cover Girl shade similar to this one (named Sapphire Sparkle) that I like much better, and I don’t usually wear drug store brands.
Before I bash UD, let me say I am a huge fan normally- I have well over $1000 worth of it (my husband would probably divorce me if he knew). I got this eyeshadow as a gift last year and I have to agree with Christine- it does go on patchy and is hard to work with. Very disappointing because it’s so pretty in the pan.
Ouch. A D+ isn’t what I expect from Urban Decay!
They have excellent eyeshadows, but like every brand, there are some misses! Eldorado is probably the worst I’ve tried – this one isn’t so great either.
I actually have this eyeshadow and I do agree, it’s a little patchy but other then that I like it. It depends on how you work with it, I think.

Agreed. It’s difficult to work with, you have to really pack it on. My first UD purchase was a set of this and Midnight Cowboy..probably 5 yrs ago or so. Both were gritty and chunky…I didn’t like either of them, but I’m glad I gave UD a chance and tried out different colors because these are the only ones I really didn’t like.
It’s crazy because I “used” to think oh if one product is good by a brand than all products must be. The color looks beautiful in the pan, but the swatch def. shows it’s cons which I would pass on this!!!! Bummer the color is soooo pretty!
I think some batches of eyeshadows just don’t come out right or something… I actually have MAC Knight Divine which I hear about as being a great shadow all the time, but the one I have is SUCH a pain to work with and barely has ANY pigment at all!! Just bad luck I guess! I’ve never tried this shadow but the shade sure LOOKS gorgeous, too bad yours isn’t so gorgeous to use!
