Oh jeez, I understand that there has been a petition circling for a few years, but the timing is AWFUL considering all the R. Kelly press.

IT IS ABOUT TIME!!!! I remember signing the change.org petition a couple of years ago (has it been that long?) and in retrospect I can’t believe there even needed to be a petition in the first place for MAC to get on board with it. I’m so excited for the fans and family. I really hope the collection does Aaliyah justice.

I’m truly elated and feeling that at least for once, that my voice counted! I am one of earlier petitioners for this collection to become more than a dream. There was a petition launched on change.org by her brother and fans in order to have her legacy carried on in the form of a makeup collection by MAC, as MAC was her favorite beauty brand. It seems that MAC was receptive to the idea.

It seems like MAC has been all but an afterthought this summer (except for their National Lipstick Day fiasco….). Then all the sudden, they’re back dropping one amazing collaboration announcement after another! I am so excited for this collection! I also signed the petition and sincerely hope that it’s better executed than Selena’s. Now the only thing that could possibly top this is a Beyonce x MAC collaboration.

It was also supported by Aaliyah’s brother and the official Twitter (presumably run by someone who officially handles the late artist’s estate/legacy), per the petition link above. Though from what I’m aware of, who owns what from her estate/catalog seems confusing.

I am so excited for this! I loved her and her music. She was an amazing young lady. I hope the collection lives up to her legacy. I hope that MAC does a better job planning (inventory) this release than with the initial Selena one. Just thinking about standing in line for hours makes me tired already. But I always be an Aaliyah fan so I’d probably do it again.
