Weekend Plans – I’m working Saturday and Sunday, but oh man I’m excited for Monday and Tuesday! My first real days off in two weeks. My partner and I plan to go on a day hike and make gumbo, and when we get back I’m going to continue going through my clothes and bags and see what I want to sell/donate. Time to minimize!
One Quality I Need for a Great Friend – Like you, supportive. I have gone through some very rough times since I’ve moved from Kansas to New Mexico and my friends have been so invaluable. They supported me and were there for me during times of fear. Now I see the light at the end of the tunnel and without my friends, I wonder if I ever would have. They’re so special to me. <3

What’s one quality you need in a great friend?: Courage, in a way. I want to be surrounded by people who can lovingly nudge me back in the right direction if I ever fall off the train (whether intentionally or inadvertently). I want my friends and family to view me as approachable & teachable. We are not islands!

Haul: I got my sephora order, finally. Nothing else since. It’s been a very rough week for me. I got to deliver makeup to my friend for her new job, so that was enough for me. I’ll also be giving my sister some things.
Weekend: getting a surprise visit from my sister and her dog. Then her dog is going to stay with me a while. A long while probably. My husband’s birthday is on July 4th, so we will probably do some epic eating this weekend and maybe some low end adventuring.
Great Friend: I’m not sure. I really don’t know anymore cause I don’t have many! I’d say loyalty? Staying in touch? Supportive? Funny?

What’s one quality you need in a great friend?: Good character. If someone doesn’t have good character not only will they not make it as a good friend but they won’t even make it into my casually social circle.

I was going to get something with my sephora $15 off too and totally f*cked up and forgot. Plenty of skincare and perfume, I need/want so I was pretty irked. Too much drama.

What was the deal with that $15 off promo for Sephora?? I only found out about it via Trendmood, never received an email even though I am Rouge this year – what the heck! I was glad to use it but very annoyed about the lack of communication.

Im also going to the city today, to buy a bathing suit. ?. As a plus sized women, who’s always had self esteem issues. This is the last thing I want to do! Ahahah. But my two best friends are coming for support!
Weekend plans: my one best friend from the next province over is here!she got here Wednesday, and is here for a week! Also this Saturday is Canada’s 150 anniversary. So we’re going to go watch fire works and hang out with a bunch of people from my town!
What I need in a great friend: I need trust, mutual respect, and love! Also a “me” thing, but I need someone who has similar views as me!

I miss swimming, it’s the only “sport” I would do daily but it’s hard to get access to water where I can swim and not spend 2+ a day commuting to a pool. I’ve never bought cute swim suits, more practical ones when I was a teen myself because my body it not “beach ideal” but I don’t care…. I just want to swim. lol

Haul: Olay Regenerist Eye Cream- I’ve enjoyed using Ole Henriksen Fresh Start, but it’s not an anti-aging formula (which I think I need at this point) and it doesn’t play very well with my concealer so I can’t wear it during the day.
Weekend plans: Gardening! We recently had new retaining walls put in the front of our house and it totally destroyed the flower beds. So I am having a consultation/ coaching session at the local garden nursery to draw a plan, then I get to buy and diy the plants. I love gardening, so I am really looking forward to it.
What’s one quality you need in a great friend?: Um, patience? Haha- I’m not great at keeping in touch (and most of the people I would consider close friends live out of state), so I love it when my friends and I can go a while without seeing each over but still just pick up where we left off when we finally get together.

*Haul – Have only swatched the products on my arms, haven’t tested anything yet, but here goes…..MAC ($25 off $75 Gilt City coupon, thanks for the tip Michele! ) -Metallic lipsticks in Disobedient and Wild Nectar (both very pretty), Versicolor Lip Stain in Long Distance Relationship (love the color and leaves a gorgeous stain that won’t quit, will definitely be getting more colors), and Extra Dimension Blush in Just a Pinch ( can’t believe how dewy and luminous the finish is, I’m totally hooked). Jeffree Star Lip Velour Liquid Lipstick in You.Better.Work (OMG, a stunningly bold and beautiful shade of matte purple, love! ) and Skin Frost in Summer Snow Cone ( the formula is dense and stiff, but I had no trouble picking up pigment with a dense brush, it’s a very yellowy gold, love).

Haul — Only a Neutrogena spot corrector/moisturizer/SPF per someone’s recommendation in earlier Temptalia post this week.
Weekend plans — Pilates, tasks, errands tomorrow. To a local antiques fair Sunday.
Friends — Last weekend, I visited with a friend of 32 years who I’d not seen much of over the last 5 or so. We connected again like there was no gap at all. I think we’re still friends because as individuals, we’re open minded about people (so we are tolerant and supportive each other developing over the years, going in varying directions), are “friend-minded”, and like to laugh about the same things
Haul: A honkin huge bottle of my Joico Colour Therapy shampoo, a bottle of Seche Vite topcoat and some essential oils from Plant Life and Aroma Force.
Weekend plans: It’s Canada Day up Canada way on the first day of July so I’ll raise my and and wave my flag, the Maple Leaf FOREVER! (tip of the hat to Stompin’ Tom). Though tomorrow is officially Canada Day, a lot of people are taking today as well as Monday to make a nice long weekend. My younger son and I went out for brunch today to a new place in our neighourhood. I’m going to the gym later and then taking it easy for the rest of the day.
One quality I need in a good friend: hmmm…just one? Hard to choose between loyalty, honesty, “uncommon” sense and sense of humour but I guess I’d choose loyalty since everything else sort of flows from that

Weekend plans: Working over the weekend (it’s going to be nuts on Saturday…. 150th Canada). So I hope Monday I can finish my Gen Beauty video/review/haul.
What’s one quality you need in a great friend?: Someone that get’s that I’m a weirdo and can appreciate that. lol I’ve had a lot of friend in the past that dropped me like a sack of bricks or belittle me because I’m stupid (aka dyslexia) in the past, or that I liked Sailor Moon. Supportive is important both ways!
Ooooh what do you think about the LC Mermaid Set? I looked and looked at it but didn’t pull the trigger.
Haul: Somehow I got fixated on Estée Lauder’s Pure Color Envy lipstick in Inescapable so I picked it up, along with the Doublewear lip liner in Rose to compliment it. On me it is a pinky nude color, something I normally wouldn’t give a second thought because I like my lipsticks to have more pizazz. I really, really like it, especially when I’m not wearing any other make up. It’s a perfect summer Sunday shade. And the formula is fantastic, it’s moisturizing, full coverage, and doesn’t feather.
Weekend plans: RPM at gym, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, painting kitchen cabinets, and visiting with grandchildren.

Haul: Ulta came twice. Zs, sunscreens, pureology 4 platinum wtfever. Not really gray, but I like it and 20% is as good as you’re likely to get. Carli 2 palette, UDUB, BH neutrals, BH supernova….all xmas shopping in June. Still waiting on the low watt hairdryer/flat iron combo. That will be so much easier for depotting than the bloody stove. CP estimates tomorrow delivery, but I doubt it. Decided to reorder Labyrinth, rather than deal with cs. It’s $4 less hassle.
Plans: my dr’s office fired me, long story. Think I’m off to the er for another visit after work. Every night I’m working has fireworks that will add on to the home commute. If the cops don’t come, there actually is tailgating in the p’lot, replete with grills and booze! Nothing will best last sun’s commute, though. 30 minutes to pick up someone, then 90 minutes from her house to the store. That’s TWO HOURS for a seven mile ride from my house. And I drive standard. Brutal. Checking out Michele’s haul and swatches, lol! Ocean, if you can get near it and the medical issue does not preclude it. Woods, if 1800petmeds comes.
Friend: many people rely on me. I rely on no one. I have many friends of 50-60 years’ duration, but my true support system is those two DOGS.
Hoo…wee! ColourPop and pet meds came. Might Be is super. Thanks for the dupe. Also got the Kae Pop lip set. Even the nude is great, at least at night. Nudes can look so different, depending on the time of day. Liners: Cry Baby, Get Paid, Prance, Teaspoon. Held off too long; hope they do more colors this summer, but they don’t seem particularly invested in them at present. Powder shadows: Say I Do, 143 (which a lighthouse near me flashes,) and replacement Labyrinth. SSS: partridge (prob in the dupe family for the Chromat duochrome,) I Spy, Head Rush, and As You Wave. Freebie: Chateau. Biggish order, but will be lots of fun, when my infection resolves. Redid the ER, so that’s over. Had a visible lesion, so the swab for culture was more evident. They took one before, but the MD did not order it, so it was not done. Hard to believe that a young woman PA did a more thorough job than the MD. Drew more blood, to rule out shingles and other immune stuff. Shingles of the nose? Who knew? Had it on my neck in the 90s, but the familial form can re-present. She even likes CP lips! Now I have to work on getting a new PCP. And it is work. My doc, who had been independent, joined/sold out to a big group practice, and I just know they won’t send records to another independent without a few hundred in fees, and I refuse. Not staying with the big boys. Don’t like how they play.

KJH, I’ve worked in the medical field for more than 25 years, 10 of which were in medical records. Once you find your new PCP sign a release form for your records. Have the new office send the request to your old doctor. Under HIPAA law you have the rights to your records for continuation of care. With the new office requesting them, you shouldn’t be charged anything. If YOU do the request, you can be charged. Hope that helps.

Weekend plans—Visiting nearby family, laundry, cleaning the bathroom, relaxing.
What’s one quality you need in a great friend?—Supportive. Supportiveness also encompasses trust, understanding, and respect.
Haul: I finally chanced upon a KIKO Milano boutique while in France so I picked up another colour of their Long-lasting Eyeshadow Sticks. These babies are pretty much the best – they can survive 8 hour work days and swatched on my hand, even withstood me doing dishes.
Also picked up Diptyque’s Philosykos EDP while at Paris Duty Free. I saved $60 after currency conversion which is a big win in my book. I love Diptyque’s branding and the scents, though the only other one I have is Eau Rose EDT, which doesn’t quite last on me.
Weekend plans: Resting! I just got knee surgery to fix my torn knee ligament (MPFL – darn you clumsiness and genetically loose joints!) and will be needing quite a bit of bed rest since the area still hurts.
What’s one quality you need in a great friend?: Ditto on supportiveness! Though a similar sense of humour is also important to me.
What restraint in the Kiko boutique! They have so many good products. I haven’t tried their eyeshadow sticks yet so thanks for the recommendation.

Their water shadows are pretty decent wet/dry. If you like bolds, the fairly new palette Active Fluo is darn respectable for the price (on sale now for $7.90!) There was some dustiness to it but applied with a damp brush over eye primer, all the shades lasted all day on me with no creasing or fading.

What’s one quality you need in a great friend?: Reliability or dependability, I guess. Someone who is as good as their word – if you say you’re going to do something, follow through. Be an adult and set your own reminders/alerts and care enough to be present and punctual.

Haul: Went back over to Sephora @ JCP on Monday and bought UD Jean-Michel Basquiat Gold Griot palette for just $19! Had to go back for it after seeing it on DEEP sale last Friday when I bought the Tarte Make Believe In Yourself palette. Last Friday, I also went to Ulta for a blow dryer diffuser, Bed Head On The Rebound Curl Recall Cream and OGX Locking + Coconut Curls Finishing Mist in order to *try* to embrace my naturally curly hair. I just don’t know, though. Still prefer wearing it sleek and straight.
Weekend plans: Have an appointment later today, afterwards I may try to nab a tube of UD Jean-Michel Basquiat Abstract lipstick? Or go to MAC for their BOGO on lip products… because Ionized Iris is calling my name! Then back to my usual weekend plans.
One quality I need in a great friend: Truthfulness and integrity. Of course, I also need an empathetic listening ear now and then, too, and that they have a fun side to them, that we enjoy some of the same things, and that they don’t put my kids down to me, all those obvious “great friend” traits. But; if they’re a dishonest or underhanded person, I will have to pull away from them. I have zero patience for a chronic liar or back stabber!
Haul: I’ve also got a NYX order coming, with two of those metallic lip suedes, a cosmic lip cream, and the glitter primer (which I’ve been trying to get FOREVER but it’s always sold out when I make an order or go to Ulta).
Weekend plans: Our pod full of belongings from AZ is supposed to finally get delivered tomorrow (it was originally scheduled for the 25th), so lots of schlepping and unpacking boxes and putting things away.
What I need in a friend: To share at least one of my obsessions so we can gush endlessly about dance, books, or makeup. Cute pets that want to snuggle me are also a plus.
Question for UK readers: I’m in the US, and I want to send some makeup/skincare to a friend in the UK. What do you think she’d appreciate? Like, what’s something you love you can’t get there or it’s hard to or too expensive?

The UK doesn’t quite have Sephora yet, so Sephora exclusives like Bite Beauty, Milk Makeup or Tarte would be great choices for makeup, I think!

Haul: Sephora – This was my week for rollerball/min-spray perfumes for some reason. I picked up two Derek Lam 10 Crosby perfumes – 2am Kiss and Blackout, Thierry Mugler Angel Muse and Tom Ford Orchid Soleil (new in rollerball format). I also picked up a new Marc Jacobs lipgloss (still holding off on the new e/s palettes), MUFE Aqua XL Color Paint Shadow – but I picked the wrong color and got the same color they have the samples going in. I didn’t have time to return it yesterday, but the color I meant to pick was a big “No” for me – so I may be better off with the wrong color! My last order is the new Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask which is out for delivery now! With all the Sephora deliveries I ended up with a bundle of samples to add to my sample use up kick, but I did get a few of the Laneige Sleeping Mask samples, so I’m looking forward to trying that out.
Weekend Plans – Nothing!
One Quality I look for in a Friend – In a crisis dependability. It’s easy enough to be there for friends when things are going well or everyday normal is one thing, but the ones that are there when you’re going through a divorce, the loss of a parent, I got admitted to the hospital and someone needs to feed my cat and bring me a phone charger, help you find an employment attorney when you get illegally fired kind of friends are the one you know you can count on and you’d do anything for in return.

Certainly with Mugler Angel Muse – I have a full size and wanted to be able to take it with me more easily. I’ve enjoyed samplers of there Derek Lam, both are spicy/sweet gourmand scents. I haven’t tested their lasting ability – especially in the DC Metro area humidity that we have, so we’ll see how that goes. The Orchid Soleil has a bit more floral to it than I usually go for, but I like it. Given the choice, Soleil Blanc is still my preference, but it’s nice to have a few more Tom Ford fragrances without committing to a full bottle.
Lea, thank you for your thoughts! I am also in the DC Metro area so I fight the same heat and humidity as you. (In fact, my official office is in DC.) The weather does have an effect on the perceived intensity and duration of fragrances for sure. I’ll have to add some Derek Lam samples to my list to try.

Weekend Plans: Finally got the estimates to do some repairs around the house related to our horrific cold and icey winter. I had two roof leaks and some damage to the metal roof do to ice dams. Everyone here had damage so getting someone to fix it has been difficult. They are all booked out until November or December by which time we will be back into winter. Finally found a new contractor who moved here from California and seems to know what he is talking about so he will start this weekend.
Quality I need in a great friend: I have so many!! I think a sense of humor. I have a rather dry sense of humor and so I need someone who gets that. I also value honesty above all else.
Oh man, it takes a lot of work to do that type of damage to a metal roof! I’m so glad you’re able to get it fixed sooner rather than later.
Haul: in the past week I received a few orders I had placed the week before: Nars Bord de Plage palette, Ciate Glow-to blush in Date Night, Supergoop Acai lip balm, Make Up For Ever waterproof eye makeup remover, Clarins lip oil in Tangerine and Eau Lactée self-tanner for the face.
Weekend plans: pool and dinner with friends tomorrow, other than that relaxing and probably hiking.

Haul: Priceline had a $60 buy products and get a HUGE bag of skincare products for free. So I bought some La Roche Posay moisturisers, cleansing milk and serum and got the bag. Every single product, bar one, I will use. It had cleansers, hand creams, moisturisers, foot creams etc in it. A very good bargain.
Weekend plans: Tomorrow morning it’s going to be 0 deg C. in our suburb and -3 in the countryside, so my eldest son and I are going out really early to experience the -3 and then have breakfast in a little country town.
Sunday – to celebrate my youngest son’s 30th – we are going to a mountainside hotel for lunch with the whole family. It has a wonderful playroom for the kids, beautiful decor and a great Sunday lunch menu. Should be fun.
Quality needed in a friend: trust, shared views, keep in touch, sense of humour and supportive in difficult times.

Haul: None, I’m on a no-buy although I did get a parcel from my aunt today which included a Vitamin E lip balm from The Body Shop.
Plans for the weekend: My daughter has come down with her second cold in 3 weeks, and I’m starting to get it too ? so not looking forward to feeling rubbish again for another 10 or so days but I don’t think it’ll be as bad as the first one. Nursery has a lot to answer for! If we’re not feeling too bad we’ll go to Glasgow tomorrow for lunch and a bit of a look around Sauchiehall Street, my daughter will enjoy the street musicians.
What’s one quality you need in a great friend? Dependability, I hate it when people flake out on you. Also good conversation, good fun.

Haul: Ulta: Kate Spade Walk On Air Sunshine Rollerball. I had gotten one from Amazon a few months ago and I think it might have been a fake; it didn’t smell anything like the one and only (sample) bottle of perfume that was at Ulta, and I couldn’t find it anywhere else. I guess it’s back now and I love it! I also got It Cosmetics Confidence In A Compact Foundation in the shade light, along with the blending brush and CC+ concealer in light. The coverage is really nice; I’ve only gotten to wear it once so far but I’m really pleased with the finish it gives. I also got the Carli Bybel palette and I love it! The bright pink shadow is my favorite, and I like to use some of these foiled. Got Urban Decay Alkaline and UD Vice Scorched. From Urban Decay I got the Naked Heat Palette, and there’s a bit of a learning curve for me me with this one. Since it’s so pigmented I have to be careful not to overdo it! I like it a lot, though. From Sephora I got Kat Von D’s Saint Rollerball. I wasn’t familiar with the original perfume, but since I was hearing such rave reviews about it I took a chance on it. It’s okay, but not really my style. Weekend Plans: I work this weekend. I’ll probably pick up a shift either Monday or Tuesday night as well. What’s one quality you need in a great friend?
