Do you like having your makeup done by someone else?
If they’re good at applying to makeup to others, I enjoy it. I like seeing what someone else would do with my features. I’d condition it to not having to go to a big event afterward, too 😉

I like it, but no one knows how to apply eyeshadow on my monolids. I always end up looking like I have two black eyes….look like a panda. Never fails.
Before, the sales associate didn’t charge….now I think a lot of brands do.
I’ve been color matched for foundation but I’ve never actually had my makeup done so I really don’t know.
I use to love going to makeup counters in the bigger department stores and they would do your whole makeup without having an appointment, just walk up and voice an interest and they would do your makeup. Of course, you had to live through the sales pitch and pressure to buy products but I could usually find something I liked enough to buy! They used little disposable tools but I began to worry a bit about the sanitation as they didn’t really have small testers of the products and were using the big bottles that were on the counter for anyone to use. That sort of grossed me out and so I stopped. Now I think you have to make an appt. and possibly pay for the privilege. Having said that, I do like having my daughter do my makeup using my products and I love having someone do facial massage which is why I like getting facials. I also love having someone play with my hair. I find both very soothing. Like you Christine, I wouldn’t necessarily want to wear the makeup out on the street. I should clarify, I mean the makeup done at beauty counters. My daughter does a better job than I do, LOL.
I love getting facials for the facial massage, too. I don’t care for body massages but I love facial and scalp massages.
I’d be more open to it if they didn’t cost money or wasn’t a way to pressure you to buy. I really don’t like being in a situation where I don’t like the makeup and the artist is looking at me like “So what are you gonna buy? :D” if it’s just getting makeup done for fun I’d enjoy it to see what the artists come up with.
I like to let someone else teach me techniques. But honestly, I have never had my makeup done and loved the results. There was always something I would dislike– the color choices, the heaviness of application, etc.
Um, well, not so much. I’m a bit funny about strangers, even acquaintences, touching me or my face. I don’t mind cheek products being applied or having a foundation shade applied to check for a match, but beyond that, I’m not crazy about letting a stranger apply a full face worth on me! And definitely not letting them apply mascara! That and tightlining I will do myself.
I love, LOVE getting my makeup done regularly from MAC. That’s one of the many reasons that MAC is my favorite brand, because it is one stop shopping for me. I don’t do very well picking out or coordinating colors, so when collections come out that I like, I’ll go in for a full face and pick up everything that I want. For the quads or the 6 color palettes (like the Fruity Juicy that just came out), I have an idea and can usually figure out what colors go where but any of the eyes x 9 or bigger palettes or collections, I’ll usually set up an appointment (or 3) and go in for a full face.
Yes! If only I had a personal MUA! ?
If I’m spending $$ on cosmetics, I want to see what it looks like on me. It gives me a sense of the talent level at the counter. I book to have my makeup done at a local counter twice a year with a preferred MUA. I also like to take advantage of events where a top-trained MUA from a brand discusses your concerns and shares their observations and suggestions before your makeup is done by one of their associates.
I have done only once, a long time ago. I have been thinking lately I would like to do again, just to see what others take on my coloring and features turns into
I don’t, actually! I hated the trials before my own wedding so much that I ended up doing my own makeup. Then when my SIL got married she offered it to everyone via her MUA, and I hated it again! I must just be very picky. But even my husband said that he didn’t care for how my look turned out at his sister’s wedding, so that one wasn’t just me.
If they know what they’re doing, then yes.
It really depends. Some people are very good at it and some people are not!
I would love it! If it is someone who is very good and listens to what I like. I’ve not had that pleasure though. I never had a professional or a friend do my makeup.
My husband works with someone who works in an office during the week but on the weekend she does professional makeup for weddings and special occasions she went to school for it and has been doing it for many years.
He said that anytime I would want she would be more than happy to do my makeup and also teach me whatever I want to know about applying makeup but I probably would never take her up on it even though it probably would be fun!
Yes I do – it is interesting to see what shade choices the MUA use, how they apply it and what products they use from their brand.
No, not everyone is clean/hygienic
I’ve never had a professional do my makeup, only my mother for special events in high school (I used to be seriously makeup challenged, which is ironic now). I never really liked how she did it because she wears too much foundation and would put too much on me. I might like a professional, but I’m honestly such a control freak and not really into strangers touching my face unless it’s for a facial. I’d rather be the one putting makeup on people instead of having makeup put on 😉
No, I don’t. I don’t like the way I feel when someone is doing anything with my face and skin. I feel kind of childish and immature, like someone is coming too close into my personal space and I do not like that kind of feeling at all. Anyone else feel the same? 🙂 I hope I explained well because my English is not the best 🙂 I am not any kind of expert or even close to it when it comes to make up abilities but I like to play and see what it will come out from it. I do not need to end up looking fabulous, I just want to search my own possibilities and creativity.
i love having my makeup done! i love when they do a smoky eye because i just can never recreate it myself.
NOPE.
I am far too much of a germaphobe to let someone else touch my face. Even if they used my products and brushes, the thought of someone else touching my face or being so close to it freaks me out. I would probably have an anxiety attack.
I used to be a model, and had my makeup done often!
So for me, it’s no big deal now ahaha. I’m so used to other people putting mascara, eye liner, lashes etc on me!
But I can totally understand people who hate it!
