Bronze Burst

Milani Bronze Burst Harmony Blush Palette ($13.00 for 0.30 oz.) swirled together to create a medium, orange-copper with warm, red undertones and a faint, golden sheen. It had good pigmentation that was fairly blendable on the skin. When I used all the shades together, the wear time was eight hours.

The formula is supposed to be a “high-impact, buildable blush” that “blends easily” but simultaneously has “richly pigmented shades” that can be used alone or together. The top three sections are larger, but only the top section (the one that often has more shimmer) is truly large enough to accommodate the average blush brush. I think it would be more practical to use two or three shades at a time, rather than only one. The way they are described on Milani’s website is contradictory (at least, in the order/way they said it), but on the back of the compact itself, it says “four pigment-rich and ultra blendable blush tones” and so I am holding the blushes to that: “pigment-rich.”

The quality of the powder varied a lot from shade to shade, palette to palette, with some shades being softer and more pliable and others being more firmly pressed and yielded sheerer coverage. The coverage varied from medium to opaque with most shades within the palettes being blendable. A few shades darkened on me a few minutes after initial application (which was the point where I took photos, so you could see the result). The wear ranged from seven to eight and a half hours on me.

Bronze Burst #1

Bronze Burst #1 is a light-medium gold with warm undertones and a soft, pearly shimmer. It had good color payoff that applied evenly, blended out without issue, and was flattering on the skin–luminizing but not emphasizing. The texture was soft, a little dusty in the pan but not on the skin. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Bronze Burst #2

Bronze Burst #2 is a muted, medium coral with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. The texture was firmer in the pan and stiffer to work with, which made getting the product to translate onto a brush difficult. It had sheer coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. It wore well for seven hours on me.

Bronze Burst #3

Bronze Burst #3 is a medium red with warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque, while the consistency was soft enough to be pliable, easy to pick up on the brush, and still blendable on the skin. It appeared brighter on my skin than swatched, as it seemed to darken and brighten due to the natural oils on my face (my arm is very, very dry, and my face is normal these days). The color stayed on well for eight hours before fading slightly.

Bronze Burst #4

Bronze Burst #4 is a muted, medium-dark coral-red with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium to semi-opaque pigmentation paired with a firmer consistency, though it was easier to get product out of it than Bronze Burst #2. Applied, it looked a lot like Bronze Burst #3, just warmer. The blush lasted for eight hours on me.

I think these would be nice for travel– if you can find a small enough brush, you can get 1 highlighter and 3 blush colors out of this one. And if you (or the airline) loses it, it’s a permanent item and not too expensive to replace.
