NARS Mayflower Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Mayflower Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “sheer raspberry [that] delivers subtle color with a shimmery finish.” It looks more like a sheer, dark rose with hints of red than it does so much raspberry when swatched, but when I applied it, it read more raspberry–the pinkness seemed to come out when layered over my natural lip color. It’s semi-sheer, so while it doesn’t deliver opaque color (nor is it supposed to), it does still add color to the lip, giving lips a subtle, rosy raspberry color with a lightly shimmered, glossy finish.

my thoughts on the formula: NARS Lipsticks typically wear four to six hours, with a shade like this lasting just under four. It has a creamier texture that’s moisturizing. I didn’t notice any waxy scent, as NARS lipsticks are typically unscented but the scent of the waxy base sometimes come through, but it really seems like lately, NARS has done something to mask the natural scent of the lipstick base.

Well, I have this lipstick and I love the colour. The only problem to me is it leaves way too many little particles of glitter, which irritates my lips!
Any advice?

I love this lipstick. My lips are pretty pigmented, but this gives me color and it’s perfect for Summer. It has this teal iridescence to it that really shows and I appreciated that it isn’t scented. It’s awesome with Mac’s Flurry of Fun lipglass for those who own it.

What a lovely shade. It looks like a dark red in the tube, yet it’s actually very wearable. NARS has been coming out with some great lipstick shades lately.

Do u kno how this would compare to NARS Manhunt? Seems like it could b similar and Manhunt is one of my favs next to Dolce Vita.

I really like this! My lips are quite pigmented so it’d probably be a bit darker on me, but it looks like it would be a nice, easy everyday shade. I’ll have to pick it up on my next trip to Sephora.

I agree with Amanda that on Christine, this looks lie Ultra Darling. But in person, Mayflower looks nothing like Ultra Darling.

I tried Mayflower on at my local Sephora. In person, it is not as raspberry toned as in the promotional photographs. It applies on my lips and NC 25 skin as a raspberry/coral with a tinge of brown in it.

Very pretty, but nothing standout.

Holy moly! What a great shade! I love how beautifully sheer with a decent pigment punch it has!

Clearly I’m having a Yoda phonics moment…:p

How did you get it to look so *RED* in the pictures?

I own this lipstick (wearing it today, actually) and it looks absolutely nothing like that in person. Its actually more like a pinkish/brownish nude color.

It’s a nice shade..a little bit neutral w/ a hint of the color of raspberry pink. Still thinking what lipstick to buy. I want the rosy pink shade but not too opaque, is there anything u would recommend christine? thank’s!
