Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick: Edition
Hourglass Edition Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a sheer muted pink–more like a natural pink–with very pale peach and champagne shimmer. It’s an ultra wearable shade, suitable for any skin tone really, because it doesn’t lean overly warm or cool nor does it pack much color. One noteworthy aspect of Hourglass’ lipstick range is that refills will eventually be available for $24 each–both Hourglass’ website and Sephora list them but they’re essentially coming soon still at this time.
my thoughts on the formula: Femme Rouge tends to be a creamy, moisturizing, and opaque lipstick formula that wears four to six hours, with deeper shades hitting the upper range of wear. Shades like Edition wear about three hours on me–it is really, really quite a sheer shade, the sheerest I’ve tried from the line, and it seems to wear off much more easily than other shades. Darker shades wear so well that one can drink a cup of coffee and not need to immediately reapply. Femme Rouge has a light vanilla scent and feels lightweight despite its creaminess.

final thoughts: The sheerness makes it universally wearable and will complement a variety of looks. It is a more basic shade, so you may want to check your stash for something similar.

It’s very pretty but, too sheer for me to drop 30 bucks on it!
I agree 🙂
The Hourglass lipsticks are one of my favorite formulas. Fever and Ballet are my favorites!
I don’t like the embossed hourglass on the lip stick. But I guess they have to do something special to try and justify the $30 price.
Beautiful color but way too expensive for me.
That price tag is crazy.
But I can see this looking nice with your Smoky Brown Eyes with Lancome Taupe Craze look :3
Such a beautiful colleur. I’m captivated! But i fin the price still too high
I DONT LIKE THE PRICE TAGGGGG D:
This doesn’t really go with this post, although that lipstick looks great, do you know when MAC lightfully bright comes in stores?
As far as I know, it is online only.
Very pretty!
I’ve been looking for this color for a week! Now all I need is $30. BTW are there any MAC dupes, preferably not frosty? Ths SA at the mall today was a real jerk about helping me.
Maybe Politely Pink!
this is so nice on you christine!
Sold.
It looks gorgeous on you Christine! A bit sheer though for the price 🙁
Wow this is gorgeous on the lips. I wish I had $30 to drop on a lipstick right now because I’d scoop this up.
Nice fleshy color…it’ll be great for everyday wear.
ewww i hate the imprint on the lipstick and the shape of the lipstick. it looks so unattractive
You look beautiful in it! Such a pretty color on you~
Do you have any dupe suggestions for this, maybe MAC? I actually like the color and I picked it up at Sephora today, it’s an enhanced version of my lips.
Maybe Politely Pink! 🙂
this brand is new to me…nice color.
Nice but I wouldn’t pay 30$ for it 🙂
How does this compare to MAC Ahoy There (from Naughty Nauticals)? From a while ago, but I got it a few months ago at a CCO (so it’s not about to go bad or anything) so not a completely irrelevant comparison since one can probably still get a hold of it
It seems similar… probably a touch warmer.
This lipstick is so gorgeous! It looks so flattering on you!
I’m surprised about the comments regarding the price. Considering the product is loaded with vitamin E and is paraben free, considering a dupe is not an option for me.
There are actually SO many gorgeous, all natural lipsticks in natural grocery stores (Sprouts, Whole Foods etc) that spending 30 bucks on a lipstick just because its paraben free really doesnt justify the cost. Even Burts Bees at drugstores makes these amazing lip shimmers, and they are extremely pigmented, moisturizing, minty fresh and dont break the bank.
