($16.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “rich shimmering green.” I would say it is deep, dark blackened forest green with teal and emerald green micro-shimmer in a soft frost finish. It’s not quite as deep as Urban Decay Loaded, but the colors are similar–Loaded just has a blacker base, while NARS Rajasthan is bluer.
The packaging is simple cardboard, which makes these easy to stack and store, plus a little more eco-friendly than plastic, though it may not stand up to wear and tear as prettily as plastic. Â I think the cardboard is plenty durable, but you may get a couple dents and scratches over the months/years.
my thoughts on the formula: theBalm’s eyeshadows are soft, silky smooth, and packed with pigment. They apply evenly, blend out beautifully, and aren’t powdery at all (sometimes a side effect of really soft eyeshadows). I find they are so easy to use, because they apply without fall out and blend with other shadows effortlessly. Worth noting, too, is individual eyeshadows come with 0.12 oz., which is just over double the average eyeshdaow–and at a rather affordable price tag.

final thoughts: Definitely worth the price, and you’ll find it will take you quite awhile to hit pan on one of theBalm’s eyeshadows–but even better is that you don’t really end up paying for that privilege. The beautiful, deep dark green-teal will work well on all skin tones.

i have that eyeshadow in the Shady Lady Volume I, much better value that way. Love the color!

Deep Blue Green would be the closest, though a pigment 🙂

They work really, really well as liners! Just dampen your liner brush a tad first. I think about half, if not most the theBalm shadows can be used as liner.
I like this one better as liner actually because it picks up the gold flecks. I also love renee and stacey as liners. When they say liner shadows they really do work amazingly as liners. Not sure about the others but I’ve used renee dry as liner as well as wet & dry it gives plenty of pigmentation but a softer effect which I love.

LOVE this color & it’s sooo you, I would love to see you use this in a look. Awesome to see thebalm getting love. Have this in both the volume 1 palette and balmbini palette (great chance to sample the blushes & luminizer). As a balm addict I <3 this entry! I love this most used wet as one of the richest looking eyeliners I own. It brings out all the gorgeous gold flecks that are somehow subdued in shadow form. (I assume so it doesn't look overboard glittery)

This color reminds me of L’Oreal HIP Cream Liner in Teal. I think I’ll look for Vol. 1 and purchase the palette instead of a single shadow.
I’ve seen people hunting hard for vol 1 but I’ve yet to see it even as a swap item. You can get this shade in the balmbini palette though with 2 half size blushes (hot mama is way prettier than orgasm IMO) and a few other products.
This eyeshadow looks gorgeous, but I could never pay money for such ugly packaging! Isn’t that the naked lady that truckers put on their mud-flaps??? That’s so tacky! Sorry, but I’ll pass.
thebalm creates their packaging around the pinup glamour of the 50s kinda thing. these have filmstrip packaging (for those who don’t know what film was like predigital). I suggest checking out some of their packaging like the overshadows or mary-lou manizer for a better idea what they are conveying. its very fun and pretty too.
Ok I do love the whole retro pin-up style because it’s taking something old-fashioned and frankly somewhat reactionary, and giving it this modern rebellious spin – like it’s saying women can aspire to this hyper-stylized glamour look – but still be independent and strong-willed at the same time.(not like it actually was back in the 40’s and 50’s) So today the look is very tongue-in-cheek, and that makes it cool instead of just old-fashioned. I guess I was just missing the irony in this packaging. (Did I just out myself as someone who cares WAY TOO MUCH about make-up?)
No! Loved this answer– it was sooo the beauty of the blog moment for me! I insanely love thebalm both for the fun aspects and also for the insanely yummy eyeshadows (and overshadows and blushes!) I totally love the YES I’M SEXY and don’t you DARE think that makes ME any less independent! It’s like a massive candle to Marilyn that doesn’t flicker in the wind. 🙂

I like most of the Balm’s products, but I absolutely hate their packaging. I hate the cheap, flimsy cardboard. I bought an all in one kit from them a while ago and the eyeshadow in it cracked in my purse and made the biggest mess. I’ve been depotting them and putting them in separate palettes instead. Really pretty shade, though! Reminds me of Mac’s Antique Green pigment!

So happy to see some TheBalm love! I’ve been a fan of their line for years. The eye shadows are top quality, I just wish they’d expand their collection some! I own both of their eye shadow palettes (which are a steal) and several singles. I’d be happy to give them more of my $$ if they just brought out new stuff more often!
