MyTemptalia | Vanity & Wish List Updates - March 2017
Gallery View
We’re excited to announce recent updates to both the Vanity and Wishlist features on MyTemptalia! (To take advantage of both of these features, you must be a registered member.) We hope that these updates continue to help you organize, track, and utilize your makeup collection! The two major updates across both features is the Gallery View, which is like a personalized “Swatch Gallery” and checking your collection for dupes. We have also added additional filters and sorting criteria.
See products that you have that are dupes of each other
Vanity
- Gallery View Displays products in a grid format; now the default view (detailed list and printable views still exist)
- Product Photos or Swatches View products with product photos or swatches (when photos exist!)
- Additional Details Add quantity, indicate percentage used
- Archive Products Archive products you no longer own or have used up but want to keep track of or retain personal details/notes for
- Additional Filters Filter by Brand, Availability, Details (Has Notes), Price, Repurchase (Yes/Maybe/No)
- View Dupes View known dupes (from our Dupe List) you have in your Vanity
- View Possible Dupes View possible dupes (similar shades that are not officially on the Dupe List) you have in your Vanity
Archive products to save your notes but take the item out of your inventory
Wishlist
- Gallery View Displays products in a grid format; now the default view (detailed list and printable views still exist)
- Product Photos or Swatches View products with product photos or swatches (when photos exist!)
- Filters Filter by Color, Type, Finish, Brand, Availability, Price
- Sorting Sort by Newest/Oldest, Product Name A-Z/Z-A
- View Dupes View known dupes (from our Dupe List) of items on your Wishlist that you have in your Vanity
- View Possible Dupes View possible dupes (similar shades that are not officially on the Dupe List) of items on your Wishlist that you have in your Vanity
More sorting, Gallery View | Swatches
These are excellent changes! I’m excited to play around with the new features!
I hope you enjoy them, Claudia!
Wow – even more ways to use the site! This is great!
I hope you find it useful!
This is pretty fabulous. I know you have your plate full.. but I do wish you either did more drugstore brands, or could partner with someone else who could. While I shop high end, a large part of my collection is drugstore which makes a service like this only half as useful.
Our database includes many products, including drugstore products, as the Vanity is designed as a way for you to track what you own – I am never, ever going to be able to have photos and swatches of all products across all brands, but we are trying our best to get as many products into the database so you can keep track of what you own, when you purchased it, and so forth. There are over 70,000 products in the database to date and over 50,000 swatches to date. We are regularly adding more brands and more products to the database every week and accept requests from readers, if you find we are missing a product you would like to add to your Vanity. Similarly, readers are welcome to (and do!) submit their own dupes, so there are certainly dupes that exist for all price points and brands, not just ones I have found.
I would love to provide swatches of everything, but unfortunately, I will always fall short. I’m so sorry to disappoint you and not be able to bring you the content you personally prefer. We have prioritized mid-end and high-end brands based on what our readership most wants to see as well as that it can be harder to see/swatch/test mid-end and higher brands or find honest reviews (and it can be at a higher cost for these products, as not all countries have return policies and not all people feel comfortable returning products) – I try to include drugstore/indie products as I can but there are so many mid-end and high-end products releasing that I am incapable of covering everything.
There are so many great beauty bloggers out there – I’m sure you have many resources that can provide you with coverage on products I’m not able to!
This is so cool! I’ve been playing around with it and have fallen down a rabbit hole, lol. I love the gallery view and love seeing the dupes!
Thanks, Pearl! Glad you had some fun with the updates 🙂
I really love your page and use it as reference all the time. What I would really love to see to roundup the swatches, is a feature where we could add swatches to your gallery. You could indicate those as “Reader Swatches” with a skintone reference and substitute them if you ever do a review yourself. That way we can get an idea of the color even if it isn’t as comparable as your own ones. It could even lead to swatches on deep skin being available and we can fill in the gaps 🙂
Hi Laura!
This is already on our list of possible features to work on, though our roadmap for the next few months has higher priority items on it already! I’m so sorry!
Wow!!!! What was already such a useful and helpful feature just got even better! And it was truly great before! Thank you and Team Temptalia!
Thanks, Nancy!
Oh wow, that’s so cool , i was keeping a spreadsheet on Exel but it’s so much better here because I have my wishlist. Thank you Christine !
No problem, Diane! 🙂
This is so cool!! Thank you to doing this, I’m super excited to play around now – I love the vanity/wishlist thing as it is but to have these extra features is such a treat. Thanks Christine 🙂
That is great news to hear, Emily! 🙂
Awesome! Thank you!
Our pleasure!
This amazing feature has made me finally sign up for your blog. I found you about two years ago during black friday sales. Although I don’t wear makeup everyday, I want quality products when I do. Your blog has been a treasure trove of information and I have learned so much from you and your readers! Thank you for this feature!
Yay! Happy to have you signed up, Carol 🙂
Thank you!
Wow, Christine….you never stop making this site better and better and more helpful as a resource.
Thank you, Mariella!
This is great, I have to go update my wishlist now! Thank you!
Yayy! 🙂
These are amazing features for the T community! I hope I can find time to do it justice and slip down that rabbit hole Pearl refers too. ? Outstanding work folks at Temptalia~ ?
Thank you, Wendy! Hope you can try it sometime 🙂
This is so amazing! I would love a behind the scenes of how you do it all! Especially how you match your foundations and how you got into this business. I think it’s really fascinating. Great job!
It was just a hobby – passion for makeup – when I started it wasn’t really a “business” that existed like it does today!
This seems so fun! I can’t wait until I have time to play with this new feature!
Fingers crossed you like them!
Fantastic upgrades! I love that the system will check for dupes and possible dupes.
Thank you!
I really love and appreciate the way you continually update and improve the website to benefit us, the readers and followers of your fantastic blog. Thank you so much Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve! 🙂
Hi, Christine, do you have one on a favorite eye brightener, sorry it’s off topic?
I don’t really use them myself very often, but the ones I like are Charlotte Tilbury, It Bye Bye (more emollient), or YSL Touch Eclat.
Mind blown!
Hopefully, in a good way! 🙂
You never cease to amaze me!
Aw! 🙂
I’d love to try the Vanity but when I type in the product that I’m looking to put in my vanity, nothing happens. Can you get me started? Thanks! I love the idea of this.
I’m not sure what product you’re typing in – could you let me know so I can try to replicate it? Thanks!
I was typing in MAC Yogurt Eyeshadow. Thank you for your help.
Hey!
So I tried this, and I typed in “MAC Yogurt” and got the a suggestion that dropped down that was MAC Yogurt Eyeshadow. Did you click “+Add Products” first? I’m thinking possibly you tried to type in MAC Yogurt in the search field that searches what’s in your vanity. If not, could you let me know what browser/device you were using?
Thank you, Christine, but when I click “+Add Products” nothing happens. I’m sure that I’m doing something wrong, just can’t figure out what. I’m using Google Chrome on a laptop. Thanks for your help!
I think I have figured it out. I needed to find any product in your archive and press on the vanity button and after I had one thing in my vanity, I could then type other items in the search and this time they came up. Not sure if that makes sense but it’s working for me now and I think I’m really going to love this. Thank you, Christine!
I’m glad you were able to figure it out, and I’m going to still note what you experienced and what made it work to see if there is still an error on our end! Thank you!
You’ve always had the best beauty blog on the entire web, Christine! I was checking it for years even before I signed up! 😉
One thing I can never figure out is how to remove things from my wishlist once I own them (or change my mind). When I double tap the wishlist or heart buttons they never un-do. Is it bc I’m alway on mobile?
Yay! Loving these changes, thank you Christine!
You’re welcome, Emilie!
