MAC Peacocky: Kissable Lipcolour Dupes & Comparisons, Part 1

Part one of two for the Kissable Lipcolours! 🙂 The biggest concern regarding finding similar shades is the fact that these are a lipstick/lipgloss hybrid. By comparing it to a lipstick or lip gloss, you are really not getting the same thing. I would say using a lipstick dupe is more similar, because these have the dry down that looks more like a particularly creamy lipstick (think perhaps an Amplified finish) with some slip. This is why I looked more for dupes within similar product types.

  • ENCHANTEE is similar but less blue-based as Snob lipstick and Viva Glam Gaga lipglass.
  • EXXXHIBITIONIST is extremely similar to Viva Glam Cyndi lipglass (I would say Exxxhibitionist is probably more pigmented when worn and slightly more orange-based). Vegas Volt is similar but not quite as intense. Illamasqua Temper is much, much brighter and more intense.
  • FLAUNTING IT is plummier than Illamasqua Move, while it is more opaque than Plumful lipstick. I didn’t have it on hand to swatch, but Chanel Stunt is more neutral, less pink/plum (see my original review here)–it is nonetheless one of the closer dupes I have come across for Stunt.
  • LOVE PECK is a darker, glossier version of Dark Side lipstick, while it is nothing like Illamasqua Fume (hey, it was worth a shot!). There have been several vampy-berry glosses released by MAC in the past year, but I felt that most of them lacked the opacity of Love Peck.
  • PEACOCKY is comparable to OCC Rx Lip Tar, which is a brighter, truer blue, while Peacocky appears darker and has shimmer. I’m sure it comes as a total shocker that I don’t have twenty other blues to compare this to… 😉
  • SCANDELICIOUS is closest to Korres #54, which is redder. Illamasqua Frenzy is significantly lighter, so I would not consider comparable at all. Illamasqua Petulant is a brighter pink.

Hey Christine! Thanks for doing this! I can’t even imagine how much work you put into these posts! I was wondering, would the lilac lipstick from the Tartan tale collection be similar to flaunting it?

Great comparison pics!

Too bad so many shades from this collection are easily dupable, the eyeshadows too. Based on swatches Love Peck’s my favorite and the only one I know I’ll definitely buy.

Which one do you prefer: VG Cyndi or Exxxhibitionist? They’re so alike, I think I only need one of them. I wish Exxxhibitionist was brighter, like Toxic Tale bright.

Do you think Flaunting It’s similar to Courting Lilac’s mauvey base color?

do you think love peck is worth having in a collection? its the shade that screams out to me the most? like is it more of a gothic thing or is it a bold red lip a girl can wear in the day time?

Of course there’s no dupe for Love Peck, the one color I’m lemming the most … I may have to break my own rules regarding expensive makeup and buy that one!!

Did you try Scandelicious next to Strawberry fields by NARS? I think its pretty close and if it is im going to buy Scan… ASAP becuase i missed out on SF 🙁

OMG! i knew it! when i saw your swatch on Exxxhibitionist in MAC Peaocky Review, Photos, Swatches Part1, the 1st thing that popped my mind was Viva Glam Cyndi lipglass!
and i love Viva Glam Cyndi lipglass so so much! i guess that’s why i’m attracted to Exxxhibitionist..LOL! =)

Is Love Peck at all similar to NYX Round Pandora or Violet Ray? I got them in today and they look slightly similar (though obviously with a different finish)

I wore Viva Glam Cyndi on top of Vegas Volt, and it was VERY close to Exxxhibitionist. I’d say it wore at least a few hours as well, because of the layering. Is it sad, and insane, that I still REALLY want Exxxhibitionist? I resisted getting it with my online order, but I can’t stop thinking I’m missing out on something… I’m probably going to cave at some point, lol. Ah well, at least it’ll be convenient to have the target colour in one tube, rather than layering to get the same results. 😉

I believe it was lancome’s L’ABSOLU ROUGE in crushed rose (def had rose in the name) that I swatched that looked just like So Vain! So Vain just happens to be more affordable! 🙂

Pour scandalicious, nars strawberry fields is closed. Scandalicious can be a good dupe for nars strawberry fields… Flaunting it seems to be closed to nars lipgloss bougainville, I think.
