Here’s a recap of how well (or poorly!) the ten new shades of Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Matte Lipsticks ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) that launched this spring. I’m usually excited for new Maybelline lipsticks, as they are often quite pigmented and comfortable to wear, but a lot of these had a stronger white base and a more chalk-like appearance on (though many felt just fine going on!). The darker shades were definitely the better ones in the launch. Did you pick up any shades from this set?

Christine, although I agree that some colors look more fabulous on you than others (most corals, for instance), I really do think that you wear a startlingly wide range of lip colors very, very well! Whereas in my case there are lip colors that really light up my whole face, and (many) others that make me look like I’m ill! And I do know that part of “pulling off” a color is just wearing it with confidence. It’s just that dark blue lips look like they belong on my face, and peach lips make me look half-dead. A color like Bite Beauty Lavender Jam will get me compliments all day long from random people, a nude pink makes me disappear (which could be an advantage at times, I suppose… )

I’m always extremely excited for Maybelline lipstick releases. But a fraction of the collection always arrives in my country, and it’s so frustrating! 🙁
For the love of makeup L’Oreal! Please release the much needed lippies in the EU!

I got the Brown Blush, and I love this color and formula. It manages to stand apart from my other nudes, so I don’t get that ridiculous feeling that I bought a shade I already own.

For once, the ones I like are the best performing. Maybe that’s what the Ulta coupon is for! That and some of the new Nyx, plus Nyx is on sale. That’d spoil my surprise Jan no buy…the snow tire no buy, if you will. The snow tires have been useful once, but the top two here would get much more use. See how we rationalize?

I was about to buy Touch of Spice, but pulled out my Jordana Modern Matte in Bare and it’s basically an exact dupe! I always have to be careful because I choose the same “safe” shades that flatter me…

I got lucky, my shade that I picked up rated good, Almond Rose. It’s a really pretty shade, it’s a shame the others didn’t fair as well.

Me too Elizabeth, I gravitate to the same narrow shade range over and over. Only you are smart enough to check the dupes against your collection and use higher functioning powers like judgement and reason to not buy copies of what you already own. I do not possess those qualities. My lipstick collection is vast but 98% of it is basically the same color but there are subtle differences I SWEAR lolol! Actually, I just ordered Urban Decay’s Fireball from the nocturnal collection and passed on nonsense so maybe I’m growing?

Update: Brown Blush looks like Mauve It (Loaded Bolds) – and Toasted Truffle looks like a lighter Coffee Addiction. Hopefully I don’t have a dupe of Almond Rose. This is so frustrating, it’s like they rehashed the same previous collection… :/

I got Almond Rose (much brighter than I expected debating on keeping it), and Raw Chocolate (gorgeous, leans dark peachy brown to me). Will probably grab the other two darker shades if I see them. I was really hoping for some nice nudes but the light shades are all very stark or pink.
