MAC Cool Thrillseekers Pigments/Glitter Set Review, Photos, Swatches
Pigments: Cheers My Dear, Mauvement, Silver Fog, Softwash Grey; Reflects Pearl Glitter
MAC Cool Thrillseekers Pigments/Glitter Set
Each pigment/glitter set includes four pigments and one glitter, each contains 0.09 oz. of product, according to the tin. The five glass vials are housed inside a tartan-decorated metal tin, and there is a plastic insert that keeps them standing together, but it’s removable, should you desire. I did find it curious that there were no inserts regarding uses (e.g. what’s eye/lip safe) in any of the sets, though.
This set includes: Cheers My Dear (pale violet), Mauvement (cool taupe with gold pearl), Silver Fog (platinum silver), Softwash Grey (grey with purple pearl), and Reflects Pearl (very fine particle white glitter with a pearl sheen).
- Cheers My Dear is a pinked lilac with a frosted silver sheen. This is a new and limited edition shade to the set. It’s a cross between Pink Pearl and Kitschmas pigments–it’s not as cool-toned or as purple as Kitschmas, as it’s pinker, but it’s not nearly as pink or fuchsia as Pink Pearl.
- Mauvement is a bronzy taupe with a mauve undertone and champagne sheen. This is a repromote.
- Silver Fog is a bright silver with a nearly metallic shine. This is a PRO shade.
- Softwash Grey is a cool-toned, blue-purple gray with a slight metallic sheen. This is a repromote.
- Reflects Pearl is a glimmering silver-white glitter with no real color base. This is a permanent shade. I see this working more as a layering shade than alone, because it lacks a cohesive color base so it doesn’t hold together.
I think the pigment sets are a good value, and they’re always worth a peek if you’re into loose color or pigments. You’re getting 0.45 oz. of product for $32.50, while a single, full-sized pigment contains 0.15 oz. of product and retails for $19.50–essentially, this is $60 worth of pigments/glitters.

Aaaah finally! I waited for chapter II! 🙂
Aww. This is the one pigment set that I thought I would get, but I’m not wowed by the swatches. Pretty, but I guess not a must have for me personally.
Guys don’t forget to vote for Christine mielke she’s almost there
I love this!
I don’t like buying the full-sized pigments because I would never use them all, but I think I’m going to get this set.
I called the MAC counter at my Macy’s and they said it would be out the 11th.
I would love to have Cheers My Dear and Softwash Grey, but not in these tiny awkward bottles
i depoted my last year pigment sets into 5 gram jars.
I want these!!!!!
I’ve never used pigments before but I like these shades . I would probably use them only as eyeshadows though .In your pictures it says “wet” , does it mean that pigments have to be used wet? Do you use water or some mixing medium for them ? When you apply them as eyeshadows what brush is the bast to use for that purpose? Thank you in advance!;)
Hey Svetlana,
I just used water to apply them 🙂 I like the 242 for using pigments wet! For loose eyeshadows, the 242 also works as well as the 239.
Thank you for always being so helpfull and awesome .
Can I just say, this set is worth getting if only for softwash grey. it is one of the most beautiful pigments I own. I got it in one of these sets from a few years back and I treasure it.
OMG this is amazing!! Cheers My Dear and Softwash Grey are my favorites ♥
Hmm, they looked SO beautiful in the bottles but the swatches didn’t really do much for me.
This one I can skip. I already have Mauvement and something very similar to Cheers My Dear and Reflects Pearl. Softwash Grey is lovely, though.
I also got these pre-ordered and swatched some of them in the store. They are beautiful!
I like these a lot but I don’t think I’m gonna get them just because I know I won’t use them very often, and pigments get a little annoying.
EEEEPP!!! I WAS SOOOOO WAITING FOR THIS! thanks so so much C! btw i voted for you from every computer/mobile device i could get my hands on. i hope you win!!!
Thanks, Tiffany!
Cheers My Dear is soooo pretty!
I was told by my local store that these will be released Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving).
Definitely not… the 11th!
this is definately the best pigment set out of all 3 and honestly one of the few things from this collection i really like 🙂 maybe i’ll look into getting it!
i already have mauvement from the fabulous felines line. i really like it.
I already own Mauvement full size but these other colors I love. It’s a great deal, getting them in a set like this. I think I might have to cave any buy it and give Mauvement to a friend.
softwash gray is lilac/lavender on me. I thought it would be more gray but maybe it is oils on skin, etc.
Mauvement is soo pretty!! Please tell me there’s a dupe for it lol, I’m not a huge fan of silvers on myself, (and broke :/) so I don’t want to have to get the whole set, but Mauvement is amazing 🙂
Oh I really like the look of this set. I got my tartan tale haul yesterday, so excited. I got later and moonlight night pigment, gone romancing gloss, black swan liner and glamora castle. Seeing your swatches beforehand was a great help. I was hoping you could help me with a couple of things… What brushes do you recommend for pigments, do you use brush protectors/guards and if so which ones and do you find the mini pigment jars ackward to use? Thank you so much
242! I don’t use brush protectors myself, so I don’t know much about them!
I don’t find them too awkward – they are harder to spill!
thank you so so much for all your hard work and time you put into this website…it really is a great help to us make up junkies!
I love Softwash grey!!
Already ordered 2 weeks ago 😀
Hi Christine! I seen all the pigment sets and there all soo pretty but I’m not sure which one to get. Also I have none of the pigments in my collection. What would you reccomend for a mdeium skin tone, brown eyed girl? I’m not sure if I’m cool or warm skin tone how do you find out?
I think the Warm set!
Hi, I’ve got it this afternoon, and it is great.
I take it only for Softwash grey, may favorite MAC pigment ove all, but all these pigments are quite good, and I think I’ll use them so far.
The box is the best, and also the tartan sach in which they put the box.

I bought the set for the Softwash Grey, too! It’s a gorgeous color and I’m surprised that the lilac didn’t pop in this photo, because it’s certainly a gorgeous shade on very pale skin.
I was so disappointed when I got home and compared Mauvement to my Sunnydaze pigment that I got in one of last year’s holiday sets… they look exactly alike.
can you press the glitter in this set?
I haven’t tried to press them. I would imagine you could, but it would be pretty loose since there is no real filler.
Which pigments in this set can be pressed successfully?
I haven’t pressed pigments in a long time, so I have not tried to do so with any of these.
Is Cheers My Dear any similar to Lovely Lily pigment, would you happen to know? Thanks!
It is!
there is any way for me to buy those? how much?
