This year’s holiday Meteorites Perles are supposed to have three shades: “pink to refresh, gold to illuminate, and a touch of blue to softly correct the complexion.” It is dominated by a lot of smaller gold pearls with a few larger pink and minty green pearls, and when I swatched and used it, it was mostly a translucent, yellowish powder with gold micro-sparkle. This year’s Meteorites’ shimmer/sparkle is more noticeable on the skin as a result, but the overall effect is one of the subtlest I’ve seen out of all the Meteorites I’ve tried. I think those who enjoy using this product and aren’t as concerned about a noticeable effect will be happy with their purchase, but as a fan of the product, I still found the difference to be incredibly subtle. What I noticed, for the most part, was that it gave my skin a warmer, slightly brighter look overall with fine sparkle all over the skin. It had no impact on the wear of my base products, and the sparkles were still visible eight hours later (when I tested for wear on bare skin).

Sorry I’m confused. You wrote “more noticeable on the skin as a result, and the effect is one of the subtlest I’ve seen out of all the Meteorites I’ve tried.”
If it’s more noticeable then how is it the most subtle out of all of them?
Thanks!

If you read the post, it’s supposed to do three things – refresh, illuminate, and color correct – which is very subtle to my eye, but what you can see is visible sparkle sitting on the skin, whereas past editions used a much finer shimmer, which wasn’t as visible on the skin. Does that help?

Unfortunately, I don’t have any info from Guerlain, and I typically only get U.S. release dates. If I ask for a non-U.S. release date, I almost never get a response, or I’m told that I’m not a Canadian blogger so that information is not available to me.

I mostly agree with you Christine! For me the effect is very similar to the permanent Météorites in Clair, but with more sparkles and less color correction. I do love them though, they’re super pretty, and I find that they really add luminosity and radiance to my skin, without looking over the top glittery!
For readers who wonder how they compare with Hourglass Ambient powders, I’d say that the Météorites in general are much finer in texture, less powdery and more lightweight. I tried the Hourglass powders and didn’t like how heavy and powdery they looked on my skin, the Météorites are much more “refined” if that makes any sense.

The packaging is pretty, but it’s hard to top the snow globe from last year. I can’t wear the Meteorites because my face is sensitive to perfume, but I remember wanting the snow globe just to look at it

I’ve collected LE Météorites for years and years and have already ordered this one. It’s very pretty and I’m looking forward to adding it to my collection. If it’s a color combination that will suit me, then I’ll transfer some of the pearls to another container for use. The actual LE container and remaining pearls; however, get put in my collection cabinet along with its name, the name of the collection, and the year. Given the amount of sparkle in this one, I’ll probably use it more for my shoulders and décolletage than my face, but we shall see 🙂 In any event, it does look lovely on you, Christine.

I have been following your comprehensive reviews for a while but first time commenting! I was excited to receive this today as I have never tried meteorites before. I have dry skin and visible pores, fine lines etc. :/ For reference I used this over Koh Gen Do #143 and a light dusting of YSL Poudre Compact Radiance Perfection Universelle. At first I was like wow! This is what everyone is talking about as It gave me a beautiful golden glow, which matched my skintone. Then upon closer inspection I did notice the tiny gold glitterry particles all over my face. I immediately started researching online to see if this is what meteorites are all about and saw some bad reviews on Nordstrom. I wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts and lo and behold, I found your review! 🙂 I am still trying to decide because in certain lighting it looks breathtaking, but others the glitter is quite obvious, which may not necessarily be a bad thing. Of the current shades is there one most like this minus the micro glitter (med or dore)? I am still trying to figure out whether I love or hate it. (Its a Libra thing :P). Sorry this is so long!!!

Christine Avatar

Hey Marianne,

I guess the thing is… do you notice the glitter if you are 1-2 feet away from a mirror? How many people are closer than that to you? 🙂

My other note would be that possibly one of the permanent Meteorites might offer you a similar luminosity with more refined shimmer! I also liked the pressed one, Mythic, for all-over without visible pieces of shimmer/sparkle 🙂

Thanks for the reply Christine! And you know what? From the time I wrote the original comment, after allowing it to meld with my skin for a bit and checking different lighting. I am absolutely loving it! I can imagine how beautiful it will look on a night out! I guess part of my hesitation is the school of thought that sparkle/shimmer was not age appropriate, but I found if anything it is giving me a vitality to my skin, and EXACTLY as you said no one is 5 inches from my face as I am when holding the mirror and if they are the last thing they will be doing at that point is inspecting my makeup!!! 😉 lol. In any case thank you for your advice. This golden glow is too beautiful to give up. Maybe I will look into Mythic as an alternative to have…A new Meteorites monster has been created!!! ? Thank you for all you do!

Ohhh and the other thing I forgot to mention is that being a newbie to meteorites I applied it incorrectly the first time. For one, only the gold balls were on top and to make matters worse I dabbed all the powder from the packing sponge on my face before I swirled it with a brush. I think I only got the micro glitter lol. Since then I have played with it and made sure to evenly distribute the balls before applying. Even though I have not tried the other meteorites ,I think this is a great shade to have as it is unique, besides other LE. I think this is a great shade especially for those with olive skintone or any other skintone wanting to add a little glow (on the golden side) and radiance.

Marianne Avatar

I am sure you are right Christine, I spent all day yesterday researching meteorites until they were popping out of my ears! ???Somewhere someone called it a packing sponge ?. …. thank you for you kind words ?

I started with Meteorites, the basic edition last year at this time and am completely in love. I use them with almost every makeup application and still have my first tin left. I hope to order this golden one as it sounds so beautiful.

I’m having a hard time choosing between these new LE meteorologist or the permanent Clair 02 ones. I have never tried the Guerlain meteorites before. I have dry/normal skin and I’m a 1.5 in Urban decay naked skin foundation. Just wondering which one you suggest for a nice finishing powder that makes the skin look nice and luminous? I also don’t mind shimmer or glitter as long as it’s not a glitter bomb on my face lol.

Anca Avatar

Is it possible to use this without foundation?

I’m currently eyeing this because the case is just gorgeous, but I don’t use foundation on a daily basis because that breaks me out…
