These look like ColorPop Lippie Stix.
Also reminds me of the Bite Beauty Multi Sticks… well from the description, anyway.
Ok, I’m interested in this formula, but why LE? :p
They’re probably just testing the market first, before they make all of them permanent. Some of the colors are permanent, though. I think it’s just the more “crazy” colors that are LE.
I want a lot of these more for the name than the color 😀 lol.
I think Dionysus sounds like a perfect name for a deep plum color.
My thoughts exactly!!! I was like YES!!! When I saw that name.
Me three!
Looks interesting, but it could just be the cool color-wheel advertisement that’s getting me. 😛
Hm… It’s an interesting tactic, but my first thought reading this was “what’s the point in employing the services of a tetrachromat if the vast majority of us can’t see the difference in colours that she can?”
Nice post. You rock kale well. As to the tertrachromat thing, I think most people see tiny differentiations in colors they are hard wired to like. But ones that don’t grab you look like a whole lot of the same. The goldest Dior dupes today were like that for me. They all looked like 95% or above to me. But show me cola pop, infrared, desire, ferocious, etc. and the look as different to me as yellow and blue. S.t. I see that I have 5/7 temptalia dupes, bec they don’t look very dupey to me. The brain is an incredible organ.
I agree! For a fave lipstick shade like red brown, I feel like I can see 50-100 variations, but of course, I don’t want to end up with 50-100 shades of red brown, so I have to pick and choose. Same for olive shadows. But for shades I don’t like, ie pinky coral lippies, they all look the same to me– bad!
Thank you! I think you’re right about the brain seeing differences where it really wants to… I’m sure I have many berry coloured lipsticks that no one else could distinguish 😛
If the formula is like Mattene or Pro Longwear Lipcream I will buy several. They were excellent & I’m glad I still have a few-new in the box since I bought extras. Mac keeps things that don’t perform & boring colors, but something that’s good is discontinued or LE. As far as the technology in this-our skin tones change the color. I see the variations, but it’s not going to look the same on me as it looks on someone w/different undertones. Nice try though!
I Love the mattene formula, too.
Dionysus. Perfect name. Need it. Fingers crossed the grey/blue/black do well! 😉
Ok, I can’t see 100 million shades of color, but as long as there are some nice unique colors in here, I’m good. I’m eyeing the purples of course
oh no it’s called Dionysos. I’m going to have to buy at least twelve just for the name alone.
Very interesting concept! But having that innate ability is both a gift…and a curse. Trust me. I have it, and it can cause me to grab a whole slew of lipsticks at Sephora (or elsewhere), trying them on, and getting severely ocd over subtle differences that others don’t see. Great way to have an SA or two give you sideways looks or get a look on their face of utter confusion. Plus, it can make me get so indecisive and pickiuny that I get information overload and buy NOTHING! It’s crazy!
Your ‘Information Overload’ comment interests me, Nance: After more than a decade of buying on-line, I find to my surprise I have become completely inept at shopping in person. Stepping into vast stores are incredibly overwhelming; the sights, sounds, smells, colours… all far too much for me to process. I do not think my issue is in any way related to special sensory abilities as mentioned here, but your comment certainly strikes a chord. Whenever I have gone out to personally shop for beauty items, clothing, I invariably walk away empty handed.
Wendy, exactly; clothes shopping is another veritable sensory overload! Add to this oversensitive color and tactile perception, an overly busy and crowded store, and I just get overwhelmed and anxious. I definitely know what you mean. Dept. stores are the absolute WORST! ?
Me too !!! and i always end up getting what I really want online..
In the end of the day, going shopping is some how being too much information. .. and I need hours to compare the collors, check if I’d not a dupe.. etc…
Can I just say, these do look intriguing but what got my attention where the shade names, bravo!
Hellebore sounds right up my alley but the packaging makes it look like a lipbalm formula? We’ll see.
I am very very very interested. I Hope if they Are really good they make it permanent.
Maybe these will be the opaque colors I’ve been hoping for. Great color names! I think the whole tetrachromat thing is just a gimmick (I think tetrachomats are real, just that this use of one to make this collection is a gimmick).
I agree 100%, and I am a tetrachromat. Gotta say though, my parents used my “gift” to help them put their outfits together. They’d always turn to me for the “match”. But now it is just plain annoying and can get frustrating.
I am with everyone else, I love the names and the advertising. That said, if the formula is too much like a lip gloss then I will pass. If they wear well then I am in for a few of them.

Really interested in those, love the vibrant yet soft colours and texture.
Wow , waiting for deep plum
Looks promising! Pretty sure I’m getting at least one shade. Like the look of Smoked Almond and Driftwood.
The reds and pinks look pretty!
oK, is it me or is anyone else a former steak eater. The medium rare lipstick is clearly medium well. Eros or Postmodern is more accurately medium rare!
It might be, as have already been said, the ad, but I love all of these. Now I have to hope at least half test badly or I will have to skip food for a month.
I want them all!
This is shockingly simple and yet everything seems very well concieved. This seems like a step in the right direction for MAC. They have been incredibly unexciting/awful for a while now. The names are great the shades seem potentially great. I could do without the color pop looking bullet but that’s not a huge deal. Keeping my fingers crossed.
While I’m intrigued by the formula… why on earth did they go for this type of packaging? Wet ‘n’ Wild Megalasts have a similar “lipstick that does not retract fully into tube” thing going on, and no one likes or appreciates it.
All the browns and neutrals look amazing. What is the finish like?
Early reviews say that these are pretty awesome- dang!
I do not need 24 new MAC lippies.
I do not need 24 new MAC lippies…
Gonna repeat that over and over- I’m a true MAC fan!
Hi I have a question. On the mac website it doesn’t have that triangle that indicated LE for the colors that are supposed to be LE. Any idea of they changed their mind? Thanks so much!
As noted above, it says the formula is permanent 🙂 The shades that are limited edition are indicated as limited edition – this is based on the last update I have from MAC!
Thanks! I just thought those colors would have the triangle on the site.
