YSL Lumiere Divine Highlighting Finishing Powder ($47.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a light beige with warm undertones and a satin finish. MAC Climax (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). It’s supposed to have a “lightweight” and “silky” feel that can be applied to the “cheekbones, on the bridge of the nose, under the eyebrows, and on the Cupid’s bow” for a “luminous glow.” As it has more of a satin sheen than overt shimmer, it can be used all-over, dusted across the face as a finishing powder (which is less about setting and more about adding luminosity back to the face, after applying setting powder). I suspect this will be best for very fair to light-medium skin tones for all-over use, as it lightens me skin tone just slightly if I use it all over. (For my skin tone, it worked better on the high planes like a traditional highlighter.) The texture was soft, smooth, finely-milled, and easy to diffuse and dust on the skin. It is a subtle highlighter if used on specific areas, and when I used it with a larger powder brush for all-over, it just made my skin look less dull and matte but not dewy or shiny. It didn’t impact the wear of my base products when used all over, and when I wore it as a highlighter on cheekbones, it lasted for eight hours.

At this price point, glad it scored well. Just wish they had done this in more colors for different skintones. I have dupes already, so will pass, but I like to use these as subtle all-over powders in winter, when my skin is drier and more matte

This looks like a nice finishing powder, especially on the highlight points (center forehead, nose bridge, chin, cheek bones, etc.). I’m half Cuban and have basically the same undertone as you, though I’m a smidge more fair, so I think this would work well for me. Would have been nice if they’d done maybe three colors to cater to a more broad range of skin tones, though. Price point isn’t too terrible for a luxury brand. Adding this to my wish list!

As lovely as the finish is on this one, and it really is, it’s just too light for my deeper end of medium skintone. Which is a shame! Like others before have said, a few other shade options would have been great. Like a true medium, a caramel shade and a rich cocoa shade could’ve covered most of us!
They really should add more shades!
With this rating and price, I am more bummed than usual that this powder doesn’t come in a broader range of shades. It really does add a nice brightness to your face, though!

A long, long time ago YSL was the first high end makeup I bought. It used to have really interesting combinations, and the products performed well. I had a chartreuse and I would say neutral but still very pink eyeshadow duo, I’d say the company was a bit daring, back then. Sorry for the trip down Memeory Lane 🙂
How does this compare to highlighters like MAC lightscapade or Laura Mercier matte radiance 01 or Laura Geller French Vanilla/Portofino? Especially the level of shimmer?
