Sneak Peek: Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeshadows Photos & Swatches
Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeshadows
Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeshadow ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) are a new, permanent liquid eyeshadow available in eight shades. I bought them at Sephora, and they appear to be in-stores but actually part of the brand’s holiday assortment (holiday in August, sigh!). They’re supposed to have “microfine” sparkle that is buildable.
I expected to be more impressed by these. Spacetime is the only one that really looks good. I think I’ll stick with the dry formula, though I might grab Spacetime to test.
Ditto, thats the only color for me also
agree!
Me too.
I was tempted to buy Zodiac but I’m glad I waited for your swatches. They look very disappointing to me!
My favorite is Spacetime and it looks the best out of the bunch. I wish Zodiac and Solstice had the same formula as Spacetime, although if they both build up very nice it won’t be a problem.
OMG, what happened??? When I swatched 5 of these in store, 4 of them were opaque and pigmented, a solid wall of color, but many of these swatches look terrible. Wow, I’m really shocked! I did do several swipes back and forth, maybe that makes a difference?? Or are there QC issues? Yikes!.
Same for me Katherine! I swatched them at Sephora .They were pigmented alone but primer really made them pop.
Thanks for letting me know! I thought I was going crazy. There must be some QC issue—these look nothing like the swatches I had. 4 of my swatches looked better than Space Time, which is the best one here . I remember Zodiac was a solid wall of green, and I was trying to figure out how to wear as shadow, without looking like Cleopatra
It kind of looks like she rubbed the swatches out? But that’s not really how the product is supposed to be used. The swatches on the left are more accurate, cuz they haven’t been rubbed out. The product is painted on, not rubbed on the eyelid! I have solstice and it’s uh-mazing :DD
I’m not sure, but it looks like the swatches here don’t have much pigment to begin with, and then when you try to blend it out on your lids, it just sheers out or disappears? A number of readers are reporting their swatches/products were pigmented, so I’m thinking there’s a QC issue here.
She only rubbed ONE of them out, the other one shows how it looks when you line with it. It’s pretty clear that she did both in the picture?
These look disappointing.
Agreed. The maybelline color tattoo eyechromes seem more pigmented than these despite being 6 fl oz less, and of less interesting pigments/colors. Maybe it’s a matter of layering these? I would have liked a more pigmented Zodiac than the eyeshadow, but I don’t think I want to spend the money to see if it’s an improvement.
Uh oh…I think UD ought to have used a doefoot applicator instead. That pointy brush looks much better suited for an eyeliner, not shadows. Therefore, I’m thinking this is why the swatches look so uneven and the shadows are so poorly pigmented. Probably not enough product on that small applicator to get decent coverage. I will use a spongetip should I buy one or two.
I agree!! I was all about these until I saw that brush and how hard it must be to get even and adequate coverage. What a bummer!
I agree. I believe they can be used as liners as well, but the applicator is not adequate for a shadow.
I was thinking the exact same thing. What were they thinking using the brush applicator? The doefoot is always the answer for a liquid shadow solution….
That we all noticed how ridiculous that applicator is, but UD didn’t, shows up their lack of forethought with the design!
Never been a fan of liquid eyeshadows… But some of these colors do look nice.
The colours are pretty but I wouldn’t think they’d look as good as an eyeshadwo particularly based on how they swatch. They’d make quite a pretty glitter eyeliner!
From the formulation to the color choices, these look like bad turn-of-the-century Wet ‘n’ Wild liquid eyeshadows.
Hmmmm I’m really interested in how the base performs with these mica glitters.
I wanted Solstice but… these look pretty hit or miss.
Definitely will order Spacetime but I am not at all thrilled with the applicator either.
Wow – there are over 6,500 loves on Sephora – 5 star ratings
Never mind on the ratings LOL Spacetime on Sephora sayts ‘coppery’ So no go for me.
I bet that almost all of the 6500 reviews are from people who received them as promotional samples for “review”
You are probably right!
Ok they Are not better than the powder eyeshadows.
Very underwhelming
They look awful!
Pretty, but if I used these as all, they’d be as toppers. I’ve also heard they’ll work as eyeliners. Are you going to try them that way, Christine?
I wondered if Simone Biles was wearing these during her performances. After seeing them swatched, I think she was using something with much more glitter. Im so proud of that little girl!
Thank you SO much for watching these, you just saved me a TON of money. I had higher hopes for these pigmentation wise.
i was looking forward to these , but they look a hot mess .
yikes !
Wow! Yikes, these are a tad disappointing to me. I expected more glitter and more pigmentation. I can stick to my Armani liquid eyeshadows and Chanel pot diggys for these UD moondusts. Money saved LOL
I brought Recharged and really love it! Got lots of compliments. This is the only Moondust eye shadow that I own. The Sephora SA demonstrated how improved they look with primer vs a dry swatch. I’m assuming all Moondust shadows look better with eye shadow primer. I used Nars smudge proof primer and sprayed MAC fix it to set. No fallout just beautiful pink with peach shift sparkle.
I expected SO much from these. Only Spacetime looks real good, the rest is quite a disappointment.
I think I like the dry formula better…
Uh, no. Rachel is right about the applicator. I had conceptualized these as liner, prob due to how I’d use them, even though they HAVE a new liner lineup. Maybe this should have had a barrel with product, a doe foot on one end and a pointy brush at the other. These sheer out abysmally. Some even lose the color. Uh, big no.
A few of these interest me as liners, especially Solstice, but I await the reviews and also certainly swatching in-store.
So sheer! Not understanding these…
Also, as others have said, the brush makes no sense to me.
Spacetime is the only one that looks opaque enough to stand alone.
The others look like they’d be cool for layering…I guess I’m confused as to what they’re supposed to be used for but I know you’ll probably cover that in your review.
I bought three of these…zodiac…chem trail and magnetic and use them the exact same way I use the dry moondust! Pat on my UD primer…apply the eyeshadow color I want as a base and these as toppers…Gorgeous! They also work well as a liner! Love them and definitely less fall out 🙂
The swatches look a little sad to me – very patchy and I have the feeling that the glittery elements might also be annoying re fall out and to the eye.
Whoa, these look terrible! WTF UD!? Why would they even release these looking so bad? Same goes for most of their Razor Sharp liners. “Oh we’re so powerful right now we can release garbage and people will still buy it!!!” Um, nope.
Recharged reminds me of Fireball eyeshadow from UD. These will look great when layered on top of other eye-shadows I guess.
These look sheer and disappointing. The swatches posted by Urban Decay must have been globs of product patted on, or layered many many times! And what is up with a brush? Wouldn’t a doe foot applicator or squeeze tube better?
Those bottom two look almost exactly like two Hard Candy liquid eyeshadows I just picked up, which were a nightmare to try to remove (had them over primer, double cleansed, and still had glitter on my face three days later).
From that you have taught me, all this time I follow you, Spacetime is the only worthy for me.
