MAC Cherry Topped Eyeshadow

MAC Cherry Topped Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkly, frosted finish. It had good pigmentation that applied fairly well, but the glittery bits felt grainy and loosened from the base color both in the pan as well as when I blended out the color on the lid. It wore well for eight hours with some fallout. Too Faced New Money (LE, $16.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana #13 (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). MAC Nice Energy Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, light chartreuse with strong, yellow undertones and a pearly sheen–it is more yellow than green, though it isn’t truly yellow either! The texture was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too firm or too soft in the pan. The eyeshadow blended out well on the skin and didn’t sheer out instantly, but the edges were easy to diffuse. On me, the color lasted for eight hours before fading noticeably. ColourPop Fruit Punch (LE, $6.00) is less shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever I-30 (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). I like the color Cherry Topped –after some experimenting, I found that pink shadow can be very flattering and not look like pink eye. Who would’ve known?

I’m wearing all pink today on my face, and loving it! It’s very brightening and flattering. I look really healthy, like I’ve been living on kale and soul cycle (not!). For pink, I like to do a gradient effect on my face, so a soft wash of pink shadow w/ gold shimmers on lids (Natasha Denona Golden Rose), a soft pink blush (City Color Flower Blush in Daisy), and hot pink lips ( UD Firebird)

I really like both of them. I have the MUFE I-30 pencil, but that wouldn’t prevent me from getting the chartreuse because I like having both cream and powder shadows in the same color. What would prevent me, is that I’ve somehow become morally opposed to MAC without really noticing or knowing how it happened. It used to be that I wouldn’t consider their LEs, now I just don’t want anything from them. That’s a little sad, isn’t it?

The warm tone in that pink is tough to dupe. But I like it. Might have to search the indies for something similar.
